Core Bamboo Aster Collection Bamboo Cutting Board with Non Slip Grip

Core Bamboo Corner Grip Cutting Board MediumI bought this cutting board because the cutting board I currently have for cutting meat slips on our counter. This cutting board has non-slip grips in the four corners, and this part of the board works great. The board is very sturdy and doesn't move when cutting things. What I don't like about the board is the juice groove is not deep enough to be effective for its job. I needed something for cutting meat after grilling. Since we like our meat on the rare side we need the cutting board to have a juice groove deep enough to catch the juices. This board's groove was very shallow. It was more decorative than functional. If you don't need the juice groove feature then I'd recommend the board. Otherwise I'd look for a different board.

I've had my cutting board from Core Bamboo now for a few days. I've oiled it up, front and back. Now I am ready to use. I rated it 4 stars and not 5 only because I feel the price of this board is a little much. But it seemed like it was the only one that had all of the features we wanted, dual surfaces and and the 18x14 size. I will wait to see how it holds up in the next few months as my wife and I use it.

The green rubber feet work well to keep the board stable and off of the counter surface. I am happy to have a board where I have two surfaces to use! One flat and the other with a drip groove to collect the juices. Actually the rubber feet they use are a ingenious design. I wonder if they will give any problems down the road... I'm worried they may dry and crack or something. Again, only time will tell.

Overall I am very pleased, the size is perfect for us next to our sink, and over all it seems very well put together.

I'll report back and update my review if I have any major problems with the board.

4/21/2012: This cutting board is great. It's still going strong and a year and a half later it still looks great. I oil it about every 3 or 4 months and it comes back to live wonderfully. Rubber corner grips look the same as the day we first got it. I have no concerns now about the ability of this board to hold up over time. We use it everyday, several times a day in our busy home.

It has a few cutting marks in it but nothing severe. I would say that we will use this for at least several more years to come.

If it is the size you want or need, Buy It! By the way, they're customer service is, courteous and responsive as well!

Zhen Japanese VG-10 Steel Gyutou Chef Knife 12"

Zhen Japanese VG-10 Steel Gyutou Chef Knife 12'This could be the best chef's knife available for under $200. The grade of steel is excellent--VG-10 is considered one of the "super" steels, and only top-tier knives are made out of it (only the ultra-expensive industrial powdered steels like cowprie and SG-2 are rated higher). It sharpens well, holds an edge, holds up well to corrosives like tomato and onion juices, and generally performs across the range of properties: 60RC hardness, doesn't chip easily, yet doesn't fold easily... a super steel.

It is made in the "san-mai" way, with layers of stainless steel over the VG-10, to help keep it free from rust or corrosion.

It's designed to be used by a real cook--someone using "the pinch" will be comfortable. Nothing sharp or rubbing or getting in the way. For amateurs the handle is nice, micarta, a good shape, non-slip, curved to fit most hands, and looks beautiful.

The knife comes razor sharp, with a western style 50/50 edge, which makes it much easier to care for and re-sharpen when needed. I am guessing the edges are at around 20 degrees. Steel it once or twice to get rid of burs, then rinse it in warm soapy water, then you are ready to go to town.

awesome knife good balance for cutting 30+ lbs fish & good steel .. for $$ ooh yeah.. very competitive price with Japan made knife , I wish they have come with the saya...

Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, Red

Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, RedI bought similar cutting boards several years ago and, while they're not the best in the world, they're serviceable. It was time to replace them, so I ordered six more. Unfortunately, the entire set of cutting boards have warped within 2 months of purchase. Now they spin when I cut something on them, which isn't safe.

I won't purchase these again and would strongly recommend that you don't buy them, either.

This is a great cutting board with a good thickness that I am sure will help to maintain the integrity of my knife blades. I ended up getting this one and the green one here: Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, Green. I will use the red one for meats and the green one for veggies. I do a lot of cooking and have gone through many cutting boards in my time working as a professional cook for over 15 years, so I know a good quality board when I see one. I love the simplicity, with no useless handle cutout, raised sides or bumper edges, all which just get in the way of cutting and sliding food off a board. The medium size of the 12 by 18 works well for just about any task you will encounter in the kitchen and fits nicely on most any size counter top. Also this is the perfect size for picking up and transferring food from board to pot. It has just enough grip on its surface to not slide around, even when wet, yet is slick enough to easily slide food off of. This board is absolutely perfect for any home or professional restaurant; I would not change a thing. In fact, I plan on buying many more of these, just to make sure I can stock up on them in case they ever run out or discontinue these models, because it really is hard to find such an all around performer in a cutting board that will truly fit my high standards of kitchen ware.

I bought 3 different cutting boards, by different manufacturers and this one spins like a top. It spins because they it is not completely flat. To keep it from spinning I put a folded kitchen towel under the center of the board.

It should sit flat and there is no reason for it not to since it is a molded product, this is a sign of inferior production. I won't buying from this company again.

I absolutely love this cutting board! I've only had it for a couple weeks, but so far it has been great. It is heavy, but I like that because it doesn't move on the counter while I'm chopping on it. It just fits into the dishwasher, which is great. I didn't realize when I bought it that the surface is textured, but that is not a problem at all. On the contrary, it makes food slide off of it easily when I want to transfer the food to my pan etc. It feels very durable and I have high hopes that it will last me a long time!

Victorinox 12-Inch Chef's Knife, Rosewood Handle

Victorinox 12-Inch Chef's Knife, Rosewood HandleNice to see the Fibrox 8 version of this terrific knife getting such wide recognition. Astonished no one has even reviewed the Rosewood 12 yet.

The 12 is made from the same "Swiss Army Knife" steel as its smaller siblings. But the longer blade means longer cuts, and a further drop of the bottom third of the blade while rocking it, so you can slice up bigger and more stuff. I do a big onion with an X pattern with this instead of trying to cut horizontal layers, etc.

The blade takes a wicked edge, which is easily maintained between sharpenings with a steel hone.

With the 12, there's so much more blade area. It's long and heavy enough and sharp enough to drop straight through most anything.

Do not be put off by the thought that it is too big for your hands. Some of the best prep cooks I have ever known have tiny hands. Sara Moultin of PBS is an example. She does her whole show with a 12, never hurrying, never straining. Practice with it carefully for a while and you'll be fine.

The rosewood handles mean hand washing only, while my 8 and 10 with their Fibrox handles go straight into the dishwasher. They are, after all, kin to the NSF blades that commercial kitchens run through their dishwashers 500 times. I use the Fibrox ones for the really messy jobs. But for 95 percent of my cutting, this is my go-to knife.

I own an array of chef blades, as i am a chef professionally. Although i own a few expensive blades, i find that for practical daily use, these Victoronix blades suit most tasks admirably. They arent very expensive, and for larger scale production, they hold an edge quite well. Eventually, they do wear down, and especially with the wooden, Forschner style handles, the metal tends to raise out from the handles eventually, which doesnt make for comfortable use, but....for everyday use, and for the price, i consider these to be pretty much top line. I see no reason why you wouldnt want one, i would recommend these over more expensive purchases like Shun or Wusthoff any day. 12 inch blades are typically used for larger scale, less refined work, and you really dont need to spend $200+ to accomplish this task. So, i typically get a year or so of daily use out of these before i find the handle has worn enough to be relegated to home use. Anyways,

Enjoy

I was sketpic about having such a long knife. Using it is changeed my opinion about the size. Great for chopping vegetables like for instance onions. It's now my main kitchen knife. And I greew up in a house where this model (10 inch one) was used, so I know I will have this knife for the rest of my life. Great buy.

Overall solid knife. Great for cutting large slabs/ wheels of hard cheeses such as parm and gouda. As well as large sheet cakes. Mine came with a minor chip in the edge. Great thing about victorinox is they comeke with lifetime warranty on factory defaults. Could have sent it in but chose to worke the chip out on my whetstone instead. Very satisfied with the knife especially for the price. Great value. For a younger cook just starting out and looking to expand their collection or anyone on a budget victorinox is the way to go.

I got this for my wife for Xmas (per her request). After using the 10 inch blade for a few years now, this is now her go to steel in the kitchen. It is very comfortable to use and can gain much more leverage when slicing through squash or other stubborn veggies.

Silver 3 Candlestick

Silver 3 CandlestickI bought this Challah Board from The Judaica Store. Upon receiving the item, the salt receptacle was unattached from the board, while it was supposed to be glued to the board. This is not very good craftsmanship. The knife, too, broke after a mere few weeks of normal use. The blade partially unattached from the handle. I contacted The Judaica Store and they told me to return the item for a replacement. That incurs added expense on my part, because it would mean I would have to pay for shipping the item to the retailer, AND the shipping of the item back to me. I'm not a satisfied customer. Two stars for the quality of the board, as well as the quality of the retailer.

Le Creuset Stoneware Petite Au Gratin Dish

Le Creuset Heritage Stoneware Petite Oval Au Gratin Dish, VolcanicWe purchased 2 of these, yes they are tiny as petite indicates and we still bought them knowing they would be small and we are happy with them. What I am not happy about is the information under Product Details section: product dimensions says: 6.8 x 4.2 x 1.2 and the product weight says an amazing 7 pounds! Obviously this info is not correct but I am here to give the real info:

They are 6.25" (6 1/4") long including the littles handles, they are a scant 4" at the middle of dish only and they are a whopping (just joking) 0.75 (yes 3/4") deep or should I say shallow.

They do not weigh 7 lbs but they do weigh approx 8 ounces. The tail end of the description does accurately state these as being 6 oz capacity. So 4 stars instead of 5 is because of faulty/inaccurate dimensions and weight info in the product description; misleading really.

These are perfect to hold herb infused olive oil for dipping bread, making single serve creme brule, and it is possible to make very small portions of individual potatoes au gratin if you dice the potatoes really tiny and do not add too much cream because it will boil over the shallow sides.

They are what they are so do not expect big things out of a really petite au gratin dish but there is no arguing that these in Cherry Red are gorgeous little baubles for your kitchen and the 4 for 3 promo is outstanding for quality stoneware like Le Creuset which are thick and durable and can go in the oven and microwave. These are really small so you may have to first place them on a baking sheet before placing in oven as they may sit crooked if your oven rack has widely spaced lines like mine.

I do recommend them for beauty and limited function, if you do not mind that and have a few extra dollars but they are not necessary by any means but they are extremely cute.

... purchased two dishes after reading the recommendation in "America's Test Kitchen, Cooking for Two 2010". My first use was for "Berry Gratin", a recipe for berries with a Zabaglione custard needing to be browned under a broiler. These petite gratins are perfect for small portions needing a wide surface for browning under a broiler.

These are really small! I bought one due to the 4-for-3 promotion so it was free as far as I am concerned. I have used it once so far to make my girlfriend a small appetizer of macaroni and cheese. It came out really nice and was amazingly easy to clean easy despite the encrusted cheese off of one of the sides. It is beautiful looking and my g/f finds it amazingly cute. So I highly recommend buying this if you like really small sides for one person. I am not sure exactly how many ounces this actually fits but I believe it is about 6 oz. I think the best use may be for small experimental baked goods done in a toaster oven (I couldn't imagine heating up an oven for less than at least 6 of these).

Very durable high quality silverware. I had a set I received as a wedding gift and wanted more to match. These were perfect except that the twist part has a satin finish instead of shiny like my other set but it still looks nice and the difference isnt really that noticable. These have lasted through the dish washer a million times and still look new. I will definitely by these again if we need more as they are very comfortable to hold and their weight feels very high quality. Rada Cutlery S39 2-piece Party Gift Set

Rada Cutlery S39 2-piece Party Gift SetI love this set! I gave this set to my husband as a gift. I was impressed with the quality . The knife is balanced and sharp. It performed as advertised. The spreader works well also. Overall I am quite pleased with this set. I would recommend it to everyone!

I gave my old set of cutlery away and bought a complete (almost) 28 piece set of these Prada things. Based on the reviews I saw, I was impressed. These really are the sharpest I've ever used, and the size of the handles are comfortable in my fairly large hands. I even bought several of the bagel knives to use as steak knives (when I can afford meat). You don't have to force these to slice with much pressure because of the serrated design. They cut across sinew like the proverbial hot knife. I know the shape of the handles will be a contentious feature. Some will say they're uncomfortable or ugly. You having the queen in for tea? I bought all aluminum handles and I plan to continue putting them in the dishwasher not giving a rip about the change in the handle's color. And they DO change. Some may not care for the lightness and flexibility of a number of the blades. A lot depends on how you use them. But they serve me very well. Note that if you use a knife holding block like me, it will take some getting used to to find the right knife as all the handles are the same shape. And here's another thing I like about them: THEY ARE MADE IN THE USA!!! That is US folks!

Shun Ken Onion 3-Inch Paring Knife

Shun Ken Onion 3-Inch Paring KnifeI have been hooked on Ken Onion knives since I first bought a Ken Onion Blur tactical folding knife. The lines are both attractive and functional on his knife designs. I then splurged on an 8-inch chef's knife about a year ago. That knife quickly replaced almost all my other knives for most tasks. The handle is perfectly designed to promote a pinch grip that gives you tons of control.

When I saw this knife come across on a lightning deal, I had no choice. For the first time I caught a glimpse of what the characters of Sex in the City felt like when seeing a killer pair of shoes on sale (never seen the show, but I assume that must have happened). Even though I had three paring knives, I had to have this one.

Glad I bought it. This angle is unique, for sure, but it's nice in that you can still get a nice full grip of the substantial handle while avoiding banging your knuckles into the cutting board. Years ago there was a line of Shun knives called Alton's Angles; this seems to be the rebirth of that concept, although Ken Onion gets the royalties this time rather than Alton Brown. This knife is great for handheld paring tasks, as well as work on a board. It quickly became my favorite paring knife.

Let me address the sharpness issue in a couple of negative reviews. If you're comparing this to a victorinox forchner (great knife, no disrespect) or a Wusthof or a Henckels, you probably already have an appreciation for great knife design. However, those are german-designed steels with Rockwell Hardness scores in the high 50s (58 or so). This means they will hold an edge reasonably well, but will also be reasonably easy to sharpen. They are ground to about a 22 degree bevel.

These Shun knives (and Globals, as well as certain Henckels lines, MAC, etc) are made from a harder steel. They have a hardness rating over 60 (as high as 63). This allows them to be ground to a sharper edge (around 15-17 degrees). That means they'll be less adept at crushing bones and processing whole chickens, but you'll get paper-thin slices of tomato or sashimi. You'll also mince ginger or garlic or shallots or chives with ease. However, with a harder steel comes more difficult sharpening. Once sharp, though, it will hold its edge longer.

I highly recommend this knife, and any in the Ken Onion line. I also recommend getting a magnetic strip MIU France Stainless Steel Magnetic Knife Holder, 20-Inches or knife dock The Container Store Knife Dock to hold them securely and avoid banging around in the drawer. I also recommend a wood, end-grain cutting board Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch Hand Grip and Juice Canal, End Grain or polypropylene one OXO Good Grips 10-1/2-by-15-Inch Utility Cutting Board, Black Edge (the OXO fits in the dishwasher). Hand-wash your knife and dry it before storage and you won't have any issues with rust. Unlike carbon-steel knives, this is a very low-maintenance blade.

Lastly, to maintain your blade, I recommend using a honing rod after every use or at least every few uses Shun DM0750 Sharpening Steel the Shun has an angle guide for both german and japanese angles. Note this is a honing rod, and not a sharpener, although most honing steels are still marketed as sharpening steels, unless they are diamond or ceramic, they won't sharpen. I also recommend a dedicated sharpener for use once every 6-12 months. I don't like the rod idea for taking off metal to restore a blade too much room for error. I like one that gives you good control and low risk of damaging blades (i.e. a manual one) my favorite is this one: Spyderco 204MF Triangle Sharpmaker.

This is an extremely well shaped knife, nothing like your average paring knife. It is more like a mini santoku knife in the way it operates. It chops, dices and pares with ease and is extremely easy to handle. I had thought the weight of the knife would make it less capable, but it does not. It cuts through everything with aplomb.

As far as the rust report by another individual. We have not seen that at all. We, of course, do not wash it in a dishwasher. Not sure if they did. But ours shines like new.

Note that at times, some rust can poke through on a knife made of carbon steel. Usually a good scrubbing gets rid of it. But we have not seen that at all on these knives.

Buy Shun Ken Onion 3-Inch Paring Knife Now

This 3 inch paring knife is easily 5 stars. It seems a bit pricy when you realize that for only a few dollars more you can get the much bigger Shun Ken Onion knives, but this is a very handy size and much easier to manipulate and cut stuff than some of the larger knives. Especially if you have not been trained as a professional chef. The blade is very nice looking with the Damascus looking ripples in the blade. It has a 3/4 shank. The bolsters are very well made and fit both the blade and handles very well. The handle looks to made out of some sort of dark wood, possibly Ebony. The feel of the contoured handle is very comfortable and the angle of the blade to the handle seems well thought out. Over all this is a very good knife and I think if you do a lot of cooking this one is well worth the money.

I bought three Shun knives from the lower end of the collection just to see if all the hoopla about Shun was just that or if these knives are for real. They're for real. Great little knife that is very sharp and fits my hand nicely. I shaved a soft peach of its skin and did so removing a minimal amount of fruit while the skin came away effortlessly. Much better than my Wusthoff.

I already had two paring knives (one German, one Japanese) but when I saw this one I had to try it. I have two (different) Shun knives already and so knew the quality would be great and it is. I love the design of this knife because I can use it for all those little jobs that one is "supposed" to use a chef's or utility knife for but in reality a 3" blade is quite enough: slicing or chopping pitted olives, slicing a few strawberries, halving cherry tomatoes, chopping herbs, etc etc. It's especially handy when prepping a small quantity of something for 1 or 2 people. The handle is instantly comfortable -great little knife! I have a feeling my other two parers are going to sulk in the knife block for quite some time, LOL.

Proteak End Grain Rectangular Cutting Board

Proteak End Grain Rectangular Cutting Boardit cracked after one month. Big crack. Very disappointed. I have now had two only one forom amzaon but this is insane. Bad product. Wish i could get my money back

I've been using plastic cutting boards for years, so I could just throw them into the dishwasher. What a difference, though, to cut on an endgrain wooden cutting board. I'm not sure if it would be the same with a non-endgrain wooden one, which would be considerably less expensive, but this feels so much more secure than my plastic cutting boards ever did. Who knew? The wood seems to hold my onion half, cut-side down, more securely than plastic, and it is gentle on my expensive knives. Really makes for more secure and accurate cutting. I went back and forth, trying to decide on mineral oil or coconut oil, then would up going with a mineral oil based butcher block oil I already had.

I will probably keep the plastic channeled cutting board I have for chicken and meats for now, anyway. But the veggies will definitely come here.

I do not regret buying this at all. Just wish it weren't so expensive.

I've had this cutting board for several months and it still looks new. Cuts on the board heal up nicely and don't trap any food. Of course, it has to be oiled about once per month for maintenance, but that's true for any wood board. It's a bit heavy, which is to be expected from a 2-inch thick board, but it's probably not necessary for this size board. It could be maybe an inch thick and still not warp, which would reduce the weight and make it less problematic to handle. All in all, it's an endgrain cutting board that matches its specs as listed on Amazon. Good quality and a decent price. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably get one a little larger and maybe not quite as thick.

Very cool looking design and high quality!! Each tool is heavy and made to last, and has a good feel when using them. The jigger is very convenient to use since it is attached to a rod. I haven't seen it designed this way before, but it sure works well (just pour and twist!) The spring on the strainer seems extra fine, and thus allows less small chips of ice through than the average. The ice bucket is on the small side, and will need to be refilled frequently if you're making a lot of drinks, but it sure looks good! All-in-all great quality, functional, and artisticly designed to be a great conversation piece. Everything you need to set up a home bar except a shaker set.

LEM Products #10 Stainless Steel Clamp-on Hand Grinder

LEM Products #10 Stainless Steel Clamp-on Hand GrinderBuyer beware this item does not have stainless steel blades or plates. The cutting knife had rust on it right out of the box and the plates are shipped in small baggies with plenty of oil covering them (stainless steel does not require packaging in oil). The appearance of the grinder itself is quite nice, much nicer than the typical cast-iron models that you normally see, but that's about where my positive experience stopped.

Second major issue with this item: I have a 1.5" thick counter top, and the clamp would not open wide enough to mount. If you remove the rubber feet (which, in my case were white slip-on feet unlike the black shown in the picture) and the cylindrical plastic piece that covers the bottom of the clamp, you might be able to mount it. I would say that this item would mount nicely to a counter with a thickness of 1.25". If you don't care about your counter finish, you can mount it on 1.5" but you will need to remove all of the rubber / plastic from the grinder that keeps your counter protected.

Third, and probably the biggest issue, is that the cutting knife, which needs to come into contact with the plates, does not ride on the plate smoothly. I don't know if this was due to the threads being off or the blade mount being machined incorrectly, but the bottom line is that the knife was not in constant contact with the plate (which is needed to get a good grind).

Put my husband right to work making sausage! He had a great time experimenting. No complaints with product; but, he discovered that if you are going to grind chicken, use the larger holed plate. Chicken was mush with the smaller holes!

I read the reviews of other grinders and decided that his one was the most sturdy-no plastic parts or electric gizmos to fail.

It was easy to use and turned the roast into ground beef in record time and at a nice saving. Next time, I will make the coarser grind, but there will be lots of next times.

I got so tired of paying steak prices for decent ground beef, and those tubes of ground something scare me. Who knows where they came from.

I figured my price for lean ground beef at about $3.69 per pound. Knowing when and where it was ground, gives me the confidence to serve it medium rare if I wish.

This grinder is never going to break.

Yaxell Ran Chef's Knife

Yaxell Ran 6-1/2-Inch Santoku Knife, 1-CountCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program First off, I REALLY like this knife. It is very comfortable to use, and cuts better than any other knife in my collection. As I used it for cutting apples, I kept switching back and forth between this knife and another, and this knife clearly cuts better than the other. It has served me well now for cutting fruits, vegetables, and for trimming excess fat from steaks. However, there are some things you should know:

1) When you buy a knife, remember that it eventually will need to be sharpened. When it is time to sharpen THIS knife, I won't be able to use my standard knife sharpener because the angle of the blade on this knife (and Santoku knives in general) is narrower than on German/Western style knives. Yaxell sells their own sharpener, but there are other inexpensive, well rated sharpeners available on Amazon that are designed for this knife. If you don't have ANY sharpener yet, you might consider one that can handle both Westernand Santoku-style blades.

2) The small size of this blade means it is definitely NOT a chef's knife. This has a 5-inch blade, whereas a chef's knife will generally be in the 8to 10-inch range. I was trying to use this knife for chopping Romaine lettuce for a salad, and had to switch to my longer chef's knife instead. I use this smaller knife a lot when I am doing smaller more precise cutting, but this is not a substitute for a chef's knife.

3) The manufacturer recommends that you NOT use this knife for cutting through/around bones. So, use something else if you are doing something along the lines of carving a chicken.

4) This is a great knife, but there are some great alternatives that are much less expensive (some below $30). Do your research, read reviews (I'm a fan of Cook's Illustrated's equipment reviews), and decide for yourself whether the extra cost is worth it.

I am a chef and in my job I normally get through a lot of items... knives, but

this one is one of the best I ever tried... nothing to do with average but better

known brand like Global... This really makes your work easier!

I got the Zen knife it's 37 layers; also a Yaxell knife (you can't find this model in the US only in Europe). I am writing a review as a higher model it can only be better (as I have an 8 inch Gou Yaxell chef's knife and it's amazing). It's the same size as this knife. I got it as a present. I was looking to buy the Shun knife and this one in every aspect, beat the hell out of it. It's more balanced and sharper I got it as a shushi knife, I cut raw fish as if it is butter. I'm writing a review as no one else wrote any reviews on these knives. This is the best knife for the money. It might be a bit expensive, but spend a bit more and it is worth every penny. In my line of work, as a chef, I used to work with a lot of knives from Victorinox, Global and even the Shun, this is the BEST knife that you could buy for yourself and it will last forever (with a bit of sharpening). If you buy this knife, please write a review so that others can learn about it and buy it as well. Enjoy your cutting!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If you are not good with sharp objects, then stay away from this knife.

However, if you are a foodie/chef who really appreciates great tools, this is a wonderful knife. It has a great feel and balance and the knife Tang (the metal) extends all the way through the handle for extra strength. It makes top-of-the-line Henckels look like bargain basement dime-store knives.

The edge cuts smoothly through anything that you throw at it (though I have to admit that I didn't test it with the cliche "cutting through metal" stress tests. It is my favorite knife for cutting vegetables, de-boning a chicken or cutting beef into strips for stir-fry.

The price of the knife is incredible so it is not for the faint of heart or the budget minded cook. I don't know that I would spend the money for it myself... however, it is a pleasure to own and use so from that respect, if you are looking for a thoughtful and significant gift for the chef in your family, this knife makes a great addition to the collection.

this knife is just as advertised its amazing its razor sharp and cuts like nothing is even under it. I only had it for a day so far and i mean thats a restaurant day and it was still sharp as could be...the only thing that scares me about this knife is how light it is, like super super light, if your not careful i feel like breaking the blade could easily happen, just have to know your going to have to baby it and if your only using it at home you really have no worries then...(Ps avoid anything with bones or relatively hard just IMO)

Victorinox Forged 7-1/2-Inch Carving Fork

Victorinox Forged 7-1/2-Inch Carving ForkThis fork is rigid and sturdy. The tines have a square cross section and sharp tips. The lack of a guard means that it may slip farther into a knife block than you want it to, so I keep this fork in a drawer. Oddly, there are no Victorinox brand markings on the handle, just "Made in Germany" etched into the metal shank.

International 53-Piece American Bead Flatware Set

International 53-Piece American Bead Flatware SetWe received this set as a Christmas gift and we love it.

This flatware is beautiful, has a good weight and suits us perfectly.

We love the long tines on the dinner forks, the large soup spoons and the lovely serving set.

The steak knives were a welcome surprise.

We've used this set as our daily flatware, washed it in the dishwasher every day, and have had no problems so far.

We are very happy with this set.

These were purchased as a black Friday sale item at a considerable discount. They were worth that very discounted price; however, not worth much more. I bought them because they claim to come with 8 steak knives and I thought that would be great to have a set of steak knives that matched my flatware. The "steak knives" are very cheaply made with black plastic handles. I may use them in the kitchen to cut tomatoes, or in the garage to cut drop ceiling tiles, but they will never go on my dinner table too ugly. The soup spoons are also VERY large almost the size of a serving spoon. An OK set for $30.

For the money, this is a decent set of flatware. A little lighter than I expected, but overall durable and has a nice finish.

Although it looked good in the picture, the actual pieces are flimsy. The large serving pieces are lightwieght with hollowed out handles, but the knives are some of the cheapest I've seen ... think clearance item bin. The blades are so thin you can easily bend them. The steak knives also have an extremely cheap look and handles. Amazon is taking them back (I get to pay shipping of course), but if they wouldn't then I'd have simply thrown them away.

Within 2 months of purchase, the knives have rust spots. They have not been abused and have been washed in the dishwasher. Lasting only 2 months is not acceptable. I can only give this silverware one star. Big waste of money.

John Boos 20-by-15-Inch Reversible Maple Cutting Board

John Boos 20-by-15-Inch Reversible Maple Cutting BoardYou will be TOTALLY pleased with this Boos 20 x 15 cutting board. There is a reason why Boos is the leader in cutting boards. I researched them all. This product is exceptional and will last forever.

I bought this cutting board for my husband. Our old board that was four years old was looking a little worse for the wear, so I thought we would upgrade. Was I mistaken. The board looked okay when it arrived although there were a couple of rough edges. But my husband loved it and he oiled it and treated it as instructions recommended. After just four months, the board is warped and splitting in two spots. I don't want to say Boos boards are junk, but this one certainly falls below their purported standards.

I contacted ABestKitchen through their site and have received no response. The Boos company site suggests contacting them if one of their authorized distributors doesn't respond. I guess that is the next step.

KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment Blade

KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment BladeThis blade (knife) is designed for the KitchenAid FGA plastic grinder and will not work with the all metal FG unit.

My wife bought me one of these when my original got too dull. The original would get the membranes wrapped around the blade instead of cutting them off, then nothing would grind until I cleaned it. Same thing happened with this brand new one, but not the one we ended up buying from Kitchenaid. Spend the extra money for a good one.

It certainly does not meet the quality of the original Kitchenaid product. I really have my doubts if it will hold up very long. I believe I am generous in awarding it two stars.

This blade is a perfect fit for the grinder I ordered separately. I haven't used it yet, but I got it as a spare. The price was great!

It is different from the original one I lost but it works just as well. At least it saves my Food grinder attachment.
