My main complaint about this knife is the wierd shape of the blade. The maker calls it a "mini-chef" knife, but I do not see how that name is relevant. The blade is 4 inches long, but is wide like a chef knife. It kind of looks like a Japanese Deba (fish cleaning) knife. I rarely clean fish, and I have yet to figure out what to do with this goofy knife, so it usually stays in the knife roll.The blade metal itself is a different matter, since Oxo has a complete line of kitchen knives with this same metal. Sadly, it is ordinary, cheap, stainless steel. So, the cutting edge does not get that sharp on my Chef's Choice, and the blade gets dull rather fast. On the other hand, it is cheaper than a regular kitchen knife. However, I would spend a few extra dollars and get the higher quality kitchen knives that Oxo makes (I think they call that line "professional").
The real attraction of this knife is the sure-grip, rubber handle. No matter how oily your hands get with olive oil or chicken fat, you always get a good, non-slippery grip on the handle. I am quite impressed with this handle, and certainly do plan to get this company's higher quality kitchen knives: I expect it to become my favorite knife.I have bought several of these knives over the years and they have not failed to impress for the value. For some reason, they keep coming up missing, so I have to repurchase every once in a while. I am sure somebody else is enjoying them just as much as I do.

I own two larger Wusthof Santoku knives that I love for serious slicing and chopping, but this is a great little knife for all kinds of food prep, especially for the money. Lots of people use paring knives for chopping small things, but they're really not shaped for that. This knife is perfect, because it is curved and can rock a little, and the handle fits great in your hand. Great for mincing garlic or any small job. A friend used it at my house and loved it so much I bought her one as a present.I bought this as a kitchen knife for my little boy (4 yrs old) to use when we prep/cook. I couldn't find a chef's knife small enough for him to wield. Small paring knives don't have the offset blade like a chef's knife, so chopping and such isn't easy to do, since there's not room for a full grip (fingers around the handle) when chopping. This little knife fits the bill. I also find myself using it when doing small work chopping, like garlic, etc and I don't need a bigger knife. Durability-wise, I've had it for a few months and put it in the dishwasher every time. Looks to be holding up fine.
