Kuhn Rikon Julienne Peeler with Blade Protector, Stainless Steel Handle

Kuhn Rikon Julienne Peeler with Blade Protector, Stainless Steel HandleI can't say enough good things about this julienne peeler. I first bought an Oxo julienne peeler, and it was really a piece of junk. I used it twice and saw that it was steadily going downhill from the first use (the little tines started bending right at the first usage when only julienning a carrot!), so I returned it right away. I had remembered seeing this much more expensive Kuhn Rikon julienne peeler with much better reviews and decided to give it a chance. Oh my goodness, the difference is amazing. It performs so much better, and I've now used it several times and the tines have not moved a bit out of position. I love the nice all-over stainless steel design. Very functional, beautiful, and looks like it will be very durable also. WELL WORTH the extra money! Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I also used it on zucchini and didn't have any trouble. I took a little bit lighter approach to the zucchini than I would with a carrot since it is a softer vegetable. The way I avoid hurting my fingers is to lay the vegetable on the cutting board and spear one end with a fork. Hold the vegetable by the fork and then julienne away!

Now, to be perfectly frank, I like this peeler. However, it does merit a little extra finger watching when using. I won't call myself an expert cook by any means, but I know my way around a kitchen.

Using this peeler I've managed to cut myself quite a few times. It's not for lack care it just slips sometimes and the sharp, knife-like tines that make the julienne cuts very easily can slide and julienne your fingers or the area between thumb and forefinger.

Again, it's a good piece to have in the kitchen. It just merits a little care in its use.

I julienne lots of carrots so this works great! Seems like there's a bit of a trick to using it w/o having a clump on bottom where all the julienne pieces stick. It depends on how you use it. I was able to mess around with it and get julienne strips no problem. Recommended purchase, am buying several more for family members.

Nice sturdy peeler. Very sharp. It looks like it would last for years to come. The only down size is the Julienne size is a little too thin for Thai papaya salad. I had to return this and got the Kiwi Pro Slice Peeler (perfect size for papaya salad). I found the Kiwi peeler at a local Asian supermarket for 3 bucks.

Want Kuhn Rikon Julienne Peeler with Blade Protector, Stainless Steel Handle Discount?

I love julienned veges, but when dealing with just one carrot (eg for garnish) it seems a tad excessive to assemble a mandoline then do the cleanup (let alone pull out the food processor). This little gadget solves that problem perfectly. I've found the best way with carrots is to peel and trim both ends, then julienne one half of the carrot (working middle to end, rotating a quarter every cut), until you end up with a thin scrawny core attached to the rest of the carrot, which then becomes the handle to julienne the other half of the carrot. I end up discarding the core no real tragedy there since the core is usually a little bitter (and if not, hey, I'll just eat it).

Jean Dubost Laguiole 3-piece Cheese Knives Corkscrew Set--Copper-Ivory-Olive

Jean Dubost Laguiole 3-piece Cheese Knives Corkscrew Set--Copper-Ivory-OliveFrankly I presented this as a gift to myself because I fell in love with the quality and functionality of this set.

Unlike some legitimate Laguiole products that are now being made in China, this is French made, so you know the quality is going to reflect that which you'd expect from Laguiole.

What I love is the bold use of color in this set. At first I was a little put off because each piece looks like it comes from a different set, but I've grown to love the contrasts. Another thing I love is the corkscrew is the traditional T-handle design instead of the more common double hinge design. I prefer the T-handle, so for me this is a major plus. I also recognize that some folks are unfamiliar with using this style, so factor that in when you are making a purchase decision.

The presentation knife the one with the reddish handle is my most used tool from this set. The blade is very sharp, and the feel and balance have that Laguiole quality. Although a cheese cleaver is included presumably for the harder cheeses like Romano Percorino and Parmigiano-Reggiano the presentation knife can handle those.

Another thing that I love about this set is the handles are acrylic instead of wood. This allows you to toss them into the utensil basket in your dishwasher with the confidence that you will not ruin the pieces in this set. Frankly, I still hand wash mine.

A final, very nice touch is the presentation box. This is an open box with routed cutouts for each of the tools that make it perfect as a drawer organizer. It also protects the blades (and you from the blades) while they are stored.

Overall this is a perfect wine and cheese set that is handy in your kitchen or as a gift to a special friend.

Messermeister 12" Slicer Edge-Guard

Messermeister 12' Slicer Edge-GuardI bought this guard to go with my "Victorinox 12-Inch Granton Edge Slicing Knife with Fibrox Handle". I wasn't sure how it worked or if it would fit before I bought it, but it is essentially a sleeve with the long edge and two adjacent small edges open so that it slips over the blade starting from the sharp end of the knife. It doesn't slide over the entire blade, it more "clips" to the sharp edge of the blade, and the back side of the blade (dull end) sticks out slightly. This is even better than I had imagined because it can fit virtually every knife the ONLY dimension you need to check is the blade length and it can be used on any blade thickness / depth. Anyway, it is very useful on my 12-inch slicing knife because it protects the blade and my fingers going into the drawer. I used to put my knife back into its original packaging each time I was done with its use, and this is a much faster and more effective way to use it. Fast, easy, protective very handy!!

The Messermeister slicer edge-guard is great to protect the knife itself and your fingers. The stainless steel granton-Edge is very sharp.

I thought this would stay on my long knife better but for the price it's alright. I don't think I would buy this again for other knives though.

This is a great edge guard for the price. Fits the 12-inch Victorinox Granton-Edge Slicer perfectly. Its adjustable style makes it universal to just about any 10-12-inch knife. Go with the Messermeister if you want a great edge-guard.

Want Messermeister 12" Slicer Edge-Guard Discount?

Adequate product, serves the general purpose for safety. Be careful when setting or removing the knife...easy to cut yourself. I would recommend it, but a better product would be a 12" Victorinox (if you can find one).

Zyliss Gourmet Shears

Zyliss Gourmet ShearsThese LOOK great, but WORK poorly. The hinge point is not strong enough to keep the blades together even to cut cardboard. Then, after two weeks of light use (simply because they don't work for any real duty), the handle broke off. Ugh. Waste.

This is the second pair for my mother. She loved her first pair, so when the spring metal broke, she wanted another pair. The first pair lasted about two years.

Buy Zyliss Gourmet Shears Now

These are some heavy duty kitchen shears! There is a spring that helps as you cut so your hand doesn't get fatigued. I used this to cut chicken breasts into pieces and was amazed at how much more quickly I could do it with these shears instead of with a knife and cutting board, and it was a lot less mess too! The shears also have a locking mechanism, so you can safely store them. Plus, they were really easy to clean up! I'm going to be finding tons of ways to be able to use these shears everyday!

I bought these shears a few months ago to replace my old Zyliss shears that broke. Today my husband broke them when he attempted to trim the stems of the roses he bought me. I wasn't sure of these shears when they arrived. They came apart easily and they are very different from the first generation of Zyliss shears. The plastic piece that holds the shears together broke which is what happened with my old pair. At least with the old pair, I got a few years of use out of the shears. I am not going to buy another pair.

Want Zyliss Gourmet Shears Discount?

The Zyliss Gourmet Shears work perfectly for me because the spring loaded handle gives me a lot of cutting power with little effort. Cutting a chicken use to be a nightmare but now I do it with minimal effort. I like these shears because they are stainless and come apart for ease of cleaning. Plus, the lock on the handle keeps the shears securing closed for safe and easy storage. Easy to use...easy to clean...easy to store.

Mac Knife Dimpled Santoku

Mac Knife Dimpled SantokuI bought this knife and the 8 inch Chef's knife two years ago. My wife thought it was way too much to spend for two knifes (and a ceramic sharpener). Now I'm not allowed to use this one she likes it so much. We have a large organic garden and multi-vegetable stir frys are a staple in our house. Kept sharp these knifes are a joy to cut with. They are light weight, very precise and cut without any pressure. The dimples help keep food from sticking to them. If you like to cook at home you will thank yourself for buying this knife everytime you use it. Make sure to keep it sharp!

Gourmet Settings Diva 20-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 4

Gourmet Settings Diva 20-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 4Excellent steel, heavy duty, beautiful design, and a pristine finish.

This flatware is simply amazing. The steel is of the highest quality, is very heavy duty and well made.

We just ordered our second set to make a full setting of 8.

Gourmet Settings products are excellent and reasonably priced. The weight of the product is great and doesn't feel too light (I don't like cheap feeling flatware).

Diva is the perfect design for either a modern, traditional, casual or formal place setting. It sits in your hand nicely and is easy to use.

I purchased a four-piece setting a year and a half ago and recently ordered another four-piece setting because it is a great product. I have never had any problems with rusting and would highly recommend Gourmet Settings products to anyone.

I really love the finish, quality and weight, but the sizes are enormous! It's hard to tell a difference between the fork sizes. It's been a while since I bought flatware, so I don't know if this is 'the new size' everyone is putting out. I don't like a fork that feels like the size of a pitch fork.

Ginkgo Sea Drift Hollow Handle 20-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 4

Ginkgo Sea Drift Hollow Handle 20-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 4I'm very pleased with my set I get lots of compliments from dinner guests. Pieces feel substantial (not lightweight or cheap like some simiarly priced sets), don't spot in the dishwasher and look great on the table. The style is simple, classic, elegant and flexible enough to go with a variety of dinnerware. I strongly recommend this set!

i'm a single guy, that just moved into my own place. i know this isn't the most expensive place-ware but it is definitely the nicest i've ever used. it's nice and heavy, none of the pieces have that "weak" spot where they are likely to bend. i've even scooped out some ice cream with no worries. in addition they look very cool. there is something to be said for buying something nice and then forgetting about any further investment. also, they look great with my corelle urban arc dishes, the square dishes and curved pattern compliment the curved handles on sea drift very well. i can host a small dinner in style!

Living in rural New Mexico I've learned to wait patiently for deliveries -this flatware arrived on June 6th well before the June 22nd deadline estimate THANK YOU.

The other reviews encouraged me to make the purchase, then decide to get two sets. I am completely delighted with the quality and style of the flatware. The clever design element of the handles curving toward the plate give the place setting a simple, elegant look, with a modern twist. The pieces are well weighted and smooth perfect in your hand and your mouth.

Just bought this set and got it in the mail. It is really nice. I have never felt such high end kitchenware. I am not even kidding. I eat out a lot, even the fancy restaurants don't always have good kitchenware. You can see scratches when they get low quality utensils.

Anyways, I bought this brand because of all the positive reviews and also because I like the design. It is really minimalistic. It can pair well with various types of dishes and plating. In my opinion, this is the kitchen equivalent of the little black dress. It goes with everything. Every kitchen should have something like this!

It comes shipped to you in a heavy, compact bundle. The bundle has a small thank you note from the sellers. Each utensil is a bit heavier than the standard kitchenware. Oh, also, it shines! Literally.

I really like this flatware!! It's a great quality, for a good price. And very attractive.

I have been waiting many years to buy a "real" set as i took a half of a set when i got divorced many years ago and it's just not done the trick!

But i'm having a problem with the knives they come out of the dishwasher "dusty" looking all the way up and down. Nothing else in my dishwasher does, and it is only 2 years old (the dishwasher). Any ideas why this would happen?

I wipe them on my shirt and i have to press very hard and i can see dust come off. I use a Cascade packet what i've always used with everything. I just dont understand why it's just the knives! They are so bright and shiny when they go in! Thanx for any help or ideas you can give...

(It would be Five Stars otherwise!)

Kyocera Revolution Series 5-1/2-Inch Santoku Knife and Y Peeler Set

Kyocera Revolution Series 5-1/2-Inch Santoku Knife and Y Peeler Set, PinkI already owned the 5.5 pink knife and loved it. It's the knife I grab about 98% of the time for everyday use, and I cook a lot. Sometimes I get in the 'zone' and don't use my brain. You canNOT use any ceramic knife for hard or frozen foods. The knife comes with a leaflet that fully explains the do's and don'ts. I knew better but didn't do that and the blade snapped in a big chunk. This was totally my careless stupidity. I loved this knife so much I bought this set right away, with the peeler, at a better price I originally bought just the knife. I see this is available in white, black, or pink handle. I like the pink handle b/c it shows up easily in the drawerful of knives and utensils. No hunting for it, I want it at the ready. It feels comfortable in the hand. The knife never needed sharpening in all the 5 yrs I owned it. So if you just don't try to cut a frozen piece of ginger with it like I did, it will last you a long time.

These ceramic blades are VERY sharp, to the point of not even knowing when you have been sliced. I got a small cut on my thumb just from lightly running it across the blade, and that was very lightly.

We all know that tomato skins aren't thick but hard to cut thru with a dull knife. This knife sliced them up effortlessly!

Based on one week's worth of cutting I can confidently state that this will be my sharpest knife for years. And, who cares if they are pink?? Buying them this way, as a set, is very economical.

Again, watch your fingers because these ceramic blades are extremely sharp.

This was my first ceramic knife, and it is with great sadness that I report after several months that unless I'm cutting something frozen or with bones, my myriad of Henckel knives are now gathering dust. I still love them, but when I need a sharp knife, I reach right past them to the ceramic wonder.

I like this knife so much. The pink color is so cute and the quality is excellent, but the white color is too pale. Somehow, the peeler's angle is a little bit strange and not so easy to use.

Kuhn Rikon 11-1/2-Inch Serving Knife, Silver

Kuhn Rikon 11-1/2-Inch Serving Knife, SilverI was at my sister-inlaws and used this knife for the first time. It cuts through anything like butter! She received it as a gift and loves it. I went home and purchased a bunch of knives by this line including 3 of these serversKuhn Rikon 11-1/2-Inch Serving Knife, Silver. This is one handy-dandy gadget. It cuts and serves the lasagne or casserole so only one tool is needed at the table. The cutting edge is very sharp so the included sleeve is wonderful to have when storing your server in a kitchen drawer.

Ginsu Essential Series 10-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Triple Riveted Polymer Handles and N

Ginsu Essential Series 10-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Triple Riveted Polymer Handles and Natural Block 4898I bought these knives for like 20$ when I first got my new apartment and had no complaints about them. Lately, after dishwashing I have noticed a few spots and stuff but thats my fault because your not supposed to dishwash them. An example of how sharp these knives are, the other day I was taking my dishes to the sink and the knife fell off the plate, bounced on the carpet, and then fell tip-upward toward mytoes. It slid between my large toe and the one next to it, and it didnt hurt much but a moment later I felt wetness between my toes and had a surprisingly deep gouge. I put a bandaid on it for a few days and it was fine, but I was surprised at how the blade managed to cut me with such little momentum. They are pretty sharp! Had them for about 4 months and think this was a great alternatives to a knife set running 100$ and upward, which I had almost bought, but then reconsidered and tried these instead and I'm glad I did.

Edit: It's been at least six months, and the knives are great, except for one of the big ones that I rarely use. I usually just use the smaller ones, and it looks like this larger one had developed some rust spots. I can probably scrum them out, but I think I had probably used it and hand-washed it and put it back in the knife block without wiping off the water, and that's how it got rust stains. I usually dishwash them and none of the other knives have any spots or stains like that. Other than that one thing, they are still a great value, just wipe any extra cindensation off of them before placing in the block.

I was looking for a reasonably priced set of kitchen knives, and the Ginsu Essentials 10 piece set stood out as being just what I had in mind. I particularly like the handles. They are sturdy and easy to grip. The blades are strong and serviceable, although I would prefer finer serrations on the cutting edges for certain tasks such as cutting through watermelon rind. Be warned, the points on the steak knives are extremely sharp. Finally, I would mention that the hardwood Block is attractive and functional if your counter space is adequate.

Buy Ginsu Essential Series 10-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Triple Riveted Polymer Handles and N Now

Nice middling set, not too many pieces, not too few. Shears are great for every day use (I have a nicer one for food prep). Knife handles are a bit small, but my wife and I are small, so there you go. They work.

No problems with rust, but, then again, I wash and dry with each use so I don't see it as a problem.

Blades are great, cut cleanly, effortlessly.

All in all a nice set for the price.

Update Have to take back what I said about the shears. The hinge is WAY too flexible (plastic on plastic). They make a decent, general purpose, light duty, household shear, but not a whole lot better than a plain set of scissors. Scissors might be better, actually. Knives are doing great. As I said, I wash and dry them as I use them. Or shortly there after, so no rust.

Farberware Traditions 21-Piece Knife Block Set

Farberware Traditions 21-Piece Knife Block SetI have owned this set for about a month now and I can safely say these are a good mid-level set. The knives were sharp out of the box and made well. the steel is a good guage and do not flex like my previous starter set. The steak knives have not rusted in the dishwasher but I do hand wash all the other chopping, dicing, and slicing blades. I am an average size man and can safely say that the handles on the smaller knives are a little smaller than I would have liked, or I am too used to the big injection molded plastic from my previous ones. That is the only complaint I have. I frequently cut meat, Dice vegetables, and just flat out use them. The price can not be beat and I am very happy with this purchase. I will continue to use these for quite some time.

Knives are a real challenge for a cook. I vividly remember my early cooking days trying to prepare meals with low cost department store/discount store knives. Bad knives mean slow preparation, poor quality cuts and frustration.

Great knives on the other hand require an investment that most starting or part-time cooks simply can't justify. Higher quality "never need sharpening" knives can be useful but are generally limited. What is needed are knives with real blades, that can be sharpened, that have the right weight and are at a low cost. These knives come very close...

Pro's

--Cost is very low(lower than most "low quality" sets and 100s lower than high end knife sets).

--Blades are good.

--Includes a large variety of knives and scissors. In particular two cleavers.

--Good set of steak knives

Con's

--Handles are small...the balance is affected and cutting quality and speed will be impacted.

--Blades do need to be dried after hand washing...rust can occur otherwise but this is steel that NEEDS sharpening.

--Blade weight could be better.

I bought these as a set of knives for a second kitchen(my other is in fact a higher end set also by Farberware). I like having slicer, cleaver etc. nearby so I can use the right tool for the job at hand. If you are looking for a set of knives that has a good selection of blades and have a tight budget I can't imagine a better set. In particular if you are not a full time cook this is a low cost way to get real knives into your kitchen.

If you're an avid fan of rust then by all means, buy these knives. I've had mine for a little less than a month and my wife and I always hand washed them. They RUSTED in the drying rack. We're not talking about days or months submerged, nope just overnight in the rack will do. I swear they had little rust speckles right out of the box. I should have known better though because I read a review like this one, but ignored it so I guess I got mine. Farberware must have specially engineered the stainless steel to rust faster. I am severely dissapointed, and unless you like rust you will be too. oh, and they hold a terrible edge, but I'm not a chef so that really didn't bother me.

ZHEN Japanese VG-10 3-Layer Forged Steel Fruit Paring Utility Knife, 4.5-Inch

ZHEN Japanese VG-10 3-Layer Forged Steel Fruit Paring Utility Knife, 4.5-InchThis is not only an amazingly beautiful knife, but it is sharp and a perfect size for lots of things. I can tell it will be my HG (Holy Grail) of knives! I just had a beautiful custom woodblock delivered (wanted to add a pic) and needed to buy knives. I have selected at least 5 different knives in different brand in order to form a decision about the brand I will continue to build upon. Zhen will definitely be my choice when it comes to presentation. The wood handle is a beautiful aged Brazilian Cherry color, not dark like walnut, but multi-dimensional as you might imagine a floor to be.

Perfect-

High quality construction and sharp from the factory. I'm impressed with the quality of the knife and materials for the price.

You won't find a knife that comes significantly sharper than this one from the factory at any price. Only time will tell whether it holds the edge well. VG-10 is an excellent steel so it should be good.

After trying out this knife I will be purchasing other Zhen knives in the future. I may just have to move up to their damascus set.

My one complaint is that I don't like the handle color, I would prefer something darker like the handles in their damascus line.

I own several Shun knives (4" paring, 2x Chinese Chef Knife, 8" chef knife, utility knife, vegetable knife). This Zhen 4.5" knife matches my Shun knife in balance, sharpness, and solid feel and weight. The only thing I would complain about (minor) is the light wooden handle, which doesn't look as good as the Shun dark wood color. The other minor difference is the lack of damascus pattern on this Zhen. But for almost less than half the price of how much my Shun paring knife is selling now these days (i.e. $89.99), I am not complaining at all. The Zhen $35.99 is a deal!!! Definitely will buy more Zhen knifes in the future.

Snow River 16-by-18-Inch Hardwood Cutting Block

Snow River 16-by-18-Inch Hardwood Cutting BlockAlthough this is a great piece of wood, it was not what I thought I was buying. It was advertised as cherry wood, but when I got it the wrapper said "Select Northern Hardwoods". Neither the picture or the narrative let me know it had feet, which meant I could effectively only use one side of it. Even with Amazon's generous offer to discount, the unexpected disappointments, along with the still-hefty price, were too much for me to keep it. It was returned. The only thing I ever have returned to Amazon.

Just got this board new from Amazon yesterday. I like the size and quality, but I'm not at all happy with the wood pattern on the board. It looks like they took a bunch of scrap chunks of wood and glued them together. Nothing like the nice pattern shown in the picture. I've never seen an end grain cutting board as sloppy as this one. You can tell that absolutely no thought was put into the positioning of the wood. Definitely not a board I would be proud to showcase in my kitchen.

Wusthof Classic Ikon Bird's Beak Peeling Knife

Wusthof Classic Ikon 2-3/4-Inch Bird's Beak Peeling Knife, BlackLove the styling and feels good in my hand. You know the reputation and its true. Cannot have too many paring knives.

I am a culinary student at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and part of our training involves the tourné cut. The standard straight-bladed paring knife is quite awkward for doing these types of cuts, and my Chef recommended a bird's beak knife for them. I had decided to try wusthof because of reputation alone and I am happy to report that this knife lives up to all the hype!

The blade is so sharp you can shave with it (I tested it on my forearm and there's a baby-smooth patch there now!), and it is so thin that it just glides thru whatever you are cutting regardless of the angle or curve you are making.

The handle is extremely comfy and easy to grip, and the bolsters (weighted parts of the grip) perfectly balance the entire knife. The entire knife is very durable and easy to clean and sanitize.

If you are debating weather to buy this knife, I can say that you should pick it up! I have owned a lot of knives and I liked this one so much that I a, buying the rest of the 9 piece set now!

Oh and as a student or traveling cook/chef, the standard wusthof paring knife blade guard fits this knife perfectly, so no worries there

Animal House Shark Paring Knife

Animal House Shark Paring KnifeWe use the shark knife for everything, except cutting food. He makes a great all-around slicing stuff open tool, and he is hard to misplace because, well, he looks like a shark. Also, it makes me happy whenever I cut things open with a shark. I'm not going to say that I always hum the Jaws theme, but I'm also not going to say I never do.

Someone gave this to me as a gift and I keep in on my kitchen counter to use for EVERYTHING -slicing open plastic wrapped pizzas, opening mail, cutting things, stabbing holes in things before I put 'em in the microwave. This is the most used thing in my kitchen.

I received this as a gift from my wife a few years back and was immediately disappointed. As a knife, it's kinda sucks. It's dull. The grip is molded plastic. It's uncharacteristically friendly shark smile seems to be saying, "haha ... I'm not really sharp like shark teeth ... sucker!"

However, it quickly became my most used knife. I use it almost exclusively to open packages and packaging. The pointed tip is great for puncturing plastic. The dullness is great for package and mail opening--it's not too sharp (you won't cut yourself), but it's just sharp enough to cut through tape and plastic. The size is perfect. Its distinct look makes it easy to spot.

I order a ton of stuff through Amazon and online in general. I use my shark knife every day to open boxes and envelopes. I didn't realize how much I loved this knife until it went missing a few weeks back. Someone must have run off with it or misplaced it and I started complaining about not having a good way to open packages and mail. I tried other knives. Nothing seemed right. I tried a letter opener. It was too dull. Where was my little shark buddy?

Yesterday a new shark knife arrived in the mail (a replacement gift from my wife) and I couldn't be happier. Buy this knife, but not as a paring knife. Use it as a letter/package/packaging opener.

I purchased this as a surprise gift for my girlfriend who likes to cut herself with old dull knives. She has an awesome unique personality so I knew she would love the "shark" design. Boy was I right. She loves this knife and it immediately became her favorite.

Good quality build. Great animal set which can be purchased separately.

Fun

This knife is cute but is not a real tool. It came dull for one, and the blade has only been sharpened 3/4 the way down.

I'm going to hang it to look at, but as a real tool it's useless.

Wusthof Gourmet 5-Inch Spreader

Wusthof Gourmet 5-Inch SpreaderIf you look around, most sandwich spreaders are small, frumpy blades that are made for little more than buttering a muffin. Not this Wusthof, which includes its classic handle design along with a strong sharply serrated blade that flexes slightly. As usual, Amazon has the dimensions wrong. This knife measures 9.25 inches long and its blade is 2" wide. You're not cheated on handle length either; it's the same as other classic Wusthof knives. That means it can reach to the bottom of most jars with ease. If you've never had a spreader around the house, you're in for a treat. It's a tool you will use for the rest of your life, and one of these Wusthof spreaders will last that long. Don't leave them soaking in water nor submit them to the dishwasher; they clean quickly and easily, then wipe dry.

This is a well made product and I like it and will keep it. That being said I thought that it was dishwasher safe, and it is not. I have a rust stain that I can't remove. I just won't put his in the dishwasher again.

This knife was absolutely worth the money. I bought a four pack of a cheaper knife, and, while they work, they are definitely not as nice as this one. I can't wait until they can be thrown out so I can buy a second one of these.

The only negative thing? Well... it's a bit longer than what I'm used to. I'm more used to a handle that is less "formed" to my grip, and I'm not sure that was really necessary for me to like this knife. It's not a big deal, though.

We use these primarily as everyday butter spreaders, making PB&Js, making nutella sandwiches, etc. But it cuts up ham & cheese sandwiches, too. Just a good purchase, and good products are worth good money.

The world of sandwich knives/spreaders seems to be populated by extremely cheap products and by ones that are much more than the task demands. It's hard to find something in the middle. This spreader is a bit into the "more than the task demands" category, but it's nice enough to be worth owning one or two. It feels good to use (weight, balance, handle), and is robust enough to handle yesterday's bagel and the spread that got too hard in the fridge. It looks nice, as well. It's longer than most inexpensive spreaders, which helps get the bottom-of-the-jar jam or mayonnaise.

The handle shape makes it feel more like a knife when used for cutting (when compared to spreaders with non-contoured handles); that's a minor nicety, but might be an important one if using this spreader commercially (e.g.) at a deli counter.

Kershaw 7700 Series 8-Inch Bread Knife

Kershaw 7700 Series 8-Inch Bread KnifeSimply put, the 7700 series knives are amazing.

Perfect Japanese balance and amazing sharpness. The handles are beautiful and very comfortable. Exactly what you'd expect from KAI/Kershaw. Be sure to check out the photos I uploaded to customer images.

Imagine slicing through a bagel with zero effort; no sawing, no smushing. That was me this morning using the 8" bread knife. My girlfriend watched as I "showed off". She said, "it looked like a magic trick, it was so effortless."

Besides this knife, I'd also recommend the Kershaw 7700 Series 9-Inch Slicing Knife. The 9" blade is awesome for roast beef and turkey. In fact, slicing up the holiday bird has never been easier. The increased length really makes a difference for smooth, long slicing.

If you have an opportunity to buy open stock 7700 series knives or a set, jump all over it. You'll never go back to a German blade again. :)
