Maxi-Matic ERH-08 Elite Cuisine Can Opener with Removable Cutter Assembly and Knife Sharpener, White

Maxi-Matic ERH-08 Elite Cuisine Can Opener with Removable Cutter Assembly and Knife Sharpener, WhiteThis Can Opener was cheap and I found it perfect for the price paid! It's no big deal but it works fine! I bought it on "PRIME' and I had it in just 20 hours! I wanted a really cheap one that I can use it only maybe once a month. This one has a "Knife Sharpener and Scissor Sharpener" too! I know that this one can't be like more expensive brands like "Black and Decker" or somebody else! Hey I lucked out! I also need a electric one because I have one arm and this opens with ease! Maxi-Matic ERH-08 Elite Cuisine Can Opener with Removable Cutter Assembly and Knife Sharpener, White

This is a great can opener/knife sharpener. It can open tall cans as well as small cans. The one added "bonus" for me (which is what sold me on this particular model) is the knife sharpener/scissors sharpener.

this can opener was very inexpensive and it is what it is. leaves large cuts on the can covers that are dangerous. its very last century and so is the price. it does what it is supposed to do. but its frustrating at times trying to get the can to catch. i do like the sharpeners in back of the opener. if you dont open lots of cans and i dont. this can opener is fine.

It opens cans just fine, but I wonder if any of the other reviewers tried to actually sharpen a knife with it? The knife sharpener doesn't work, it doesn't spin at all. I opened up the can opener to see if I could fix it and the stone is fixed on a plastic hex shaft that is part of the blow molded case. There's no way the stone was made to spin, I guess the Chinese figured we would just spit on our knives and run them over the stone by hand. There's a shaft coming out of the motor but it's too short the even touch the stone, it was never meant to spin. I guess I'm off to Wal-Mart to get an opener with a knife sharpener that really works, too much of a hassle to send this back for what I paid for it.

very disappointed in this product I have thrown the product away not even good enough to give to Goodwill. Doesn't have enough power to even open small cans. Amazon did give me a refund. Do not buy!!!

E3000%2D7S%2D Meridian Elite 7 Piece Initiation Block Set

E3000%2D7S%2D Meridian Elite 7 Piece Initiation Block SetWe've had a "separates" set of these knives for 3 years and they are fantastic. I know there are several quality brands of knives, but I bought these in a specialty knife shop based on balance and how they felt in my hand. Fantastic quality, any this is my go-to gift for friends who don't already have a quality set of knives.

when it comes to engineering the germans have always come out on top

so when when choosing a knife set it came down to henckle, wusthof and

messermeister all worthy contenders steeped in a rich tradition of forged

steel knife making since the early 1800's. what ultimately impressed me

with messermeister was that they did not compromise their reputation by

outsourcing their product to international knife making markets outside

of germany in order to gain popularity.

I got this set for my food production class, and i was so excited to get them! When they finally arrived i was a bit dissapointed =( The knives were not sharp at all...i tried cutting an avocado with one of them and it didnt cut at all, it just pushed the skin down and bruised the avocado! I had to sharpen ALL of the knives with the sharpener we have in our kitchen! So, no i would not recommend this set!!

I was given this set for Advanced Training Culinary with Job Corps, the chef's knife lost it's edge almost immediately. To the point that I cut two pieces of deli ham, about a quarter inch thick, and the just sharpened blade was dull. Balence was great, the edge was horrid.

Core Bamboo Daffodil Collection Cutting Board

Core Bamboo Daffodil Collection Cutting Board, Extra LargeAfter reading the cutting board review in Cooks Illustrated, I realized that it was the Epicurean cutting board causing my knives to be constantly dull. I choose this board because bamboo is supposed to be gentle with your knives and I liked its looks. The board arrived in a box as big as a Hummer with lots of padding. Considering this is somewhat unbreakable, there was a bit of waste involved in shipping, but I'm Prime, so I did not pay for it (the planet did, though).

About the board, it is really well made and beautiful. Unlike my Epicurean boards, it is really flat, meaning that it stays where you put it, not spinning around on the high point. It seems to be good on the blades, but time will tell. I really like the channel routed around the edge to control liquid. All-in-all, a great purchase.

I was looking for a very large board on a small budget. I wasn't planning on it but I ended up adding gripper feet to the bottom due to a high spot on my counter causing it to rock. If you do this I would put a couple in the middle to prevent bowing from occurring when placing something very heavy on the board, like what happened to the other reviewer who placed a turkey on it. Although I think it would take a hefty amount of weight for this to happen as the board is .75" thick exactly. It's thicker than other bamboo boards and this also helps raise my ingredients off my low counter and makes it more comfortable for me to cut (I'm pretty tall).

I was indifferent to the liquid channel all around since I'm a vegetarian but on first use it caught a lot of juice from a tomato. The board is 1/4" smaller in width and length than claimed when measuring the longest parts of it. Not that big of a deal, and yes I checked out of curiosity. It is in fact exactly .75" thick though. It was somewhat dry upon arrival and I used a layer of mineral oil on it. Looked even better afterwards. You can find mineral oil in the laxative section for less than 2 bucks.

I love the freedom of space a large board like this affords you. It's also just big enough to slice home made pizza on, and work with dough on as well. Since you will not be lifting this over the skillet to drop chopped veggies in I suggest a handy Stainless Steel Scraper for transporting ingredients to the skillet, or around the board, and taking remnants to the trash. Take care of it it by wiping down with a soapy sponge/water and avoid soaking it or it will warp. Oil when it starts to look dry to prevent cracking.

The channel routing is a little rough and the sides have that bamboo grit in some parts. Not to bad to the touch but if you are wiping it with a paper towel it will grab some of it. You could take a fine grit sand paper to it but I think it'll smooth out over time.

I wasn't sure about the pucker shape but in person it is a lot more subtle than in the pictures. Did I mention that it is a beautiful board? I find myself admiring it when ever I walk by or while doing dishes. This large chunk of bamboo sitting next to all of the stainless steel, cast iron, and glass enhances the feel of the temple we call the kitchen. Oh how I love cooking.

The cutting board developed a five inch crack in the middle after only a couple of days of use. Apparently they use wood glue or adhesive to attach the bamboo strips together during assembly. This has resulted in one of the seams to partially separate. It is still useable, but food particles may become lodged in the crack over time. If I replace it. it will be with a different brand.

This is a strong and light cutting board, perfect for those not willing to invest in a heavy maple board. The deep grooves around the edge make it great for carving roasts. Looks good as a serving platter.

Love this board! It's very sturdy, doesn't have the funky smell that some bamboo boards have. The little "moat" is perfect for collecting juices from cooked meat and the size is perfect. I typically like thicker boards, but the size and shape of this is perfect for using it and storing it.

Wusthof Classic 6.3-Inch Hollow Edge Euro-Utility Knife (16cm)

Wusthof Classic 6.3-Inch Hollow Edge Euro-Utility KnifeI chose this knife because I liked the profile of the blade. Most utility knives have a drop point and the blade is tapered on both sides. This one has a straight point and is only tapered on the bottom. I wasn't disappointed. It's a sturdy design and very versatile. The hollow edge makes slicing vegetables so much easier. I used it to slice a turkey breast and it made a very neat, quick job of it.

I like this knife so well, I will probably get the 8-inch version too. I wish that Wusthof made this same style knife in a 4-1/2" or 5" version.

I have a good collection of Wusthof knives. this one is light and easy to handle, and useful for a lot of different situations. I think after my chef's knife and paring knife, this is what I use the most.

Wallace Corsica Gold-Accent 65-Piece Flatware Set

Wallace Corsica Gold-Accent 65-Piece Flatware SetWhen I ordered this set I was expecting to receive a Wallace set like the one I currently have, I was very disappointed to see that it was not the same weight as my current set and that it was stamped China which my current set does not have.

For years my 3 little kids fought over who gets the golden spoon in my house at dinner time. You see, for my wedding gifts, someone (el cheapo idiot) just gave me one golden plated spoon and told me to buy the rest. Problem was that I could not find where this person bought it. And my three children fought teeth and nails to be the special person handling it. After a while this got really old. Along came the Wallace Corsica sets. I found them on the internet but could not get them because they were back-ordered for close than a year. Finally they came back.

Pros:

1. Elegant.

2. Still shiny after 5 months of use(I bought 2 sets)

3. Light. If you are looking for the heavy American feel, like Oneida, do not buy this set.

4. Gold plated.

5. They have an oriental appearance, if you are into those things.

6. A lot less expensive than Oneida and Lenox.

Cons:

1. Made from China. Yup, even though the company was in the US.

2. Being light.

Summary:

I am again the hero for buying the right stuffs---at least for now. Like I said I got two sets from Amazon with free shipping.

I actually, ordered these because a reviewer said, they were disappointed because they were not heavy like her other set.. Just want we wanted: great for casual dining, no flipping off the plates, tipping over glasses (because of being heavy). Nice looking, too! OK, I admit I was handing washing them, but gave it up and used top rack in dishwasher. Worked well.

I purchased this set about a year and a half ago to replace an Oneida stainless steel flatware set. The price of the set has actually decreased by $25 since I purchased it. I use 8 of the 12 settings for everyday use and have kept 4 of the settings as replacements. Fortunately, I haven't had to use any of the replacements yet. The pieces are medium weight. They don't bend easily, but will buckle under significant pressure.

This stainless steel flatware set is no comparison to real silverware, but for the stainless steel category, the Corsica is top of the line. The gold accents on the Corsica make the set very distinctive and add a bit of flair to the dining experience. The basket-weave design at the base and neck represent the hand woven nets and baskets that fishermen use to make a living. The Corsica set looks exactly like the Wallace Aegean Weave sterling silverware set that retails for around $12,000 for a 12 place setting. The Corsica set has all of the fine detailing of the Aegean Weave set at a fraction of the price.

While the description on the Amazon product summary for Corsica says to hand wash only, the website of Lifetime Sterling (direct seller of the Wallace brand) states the following about stainless steel flatware:

* When cleaning your stainless steel flatware in the dishwasher; make sure not to crowd the pieces in the baskets to ensure each piece gets thoroughly clean. Also, avoid the hot drying cycle.

* Keep stainless steel flatware in separate baskets in the dishwasher as direct contact can permanently damage the items.

* Keep detergent to a minimum, avoid lemon-scented detergents and avoid detergents containing chloride, which can damage your flatware.

* Rinse your flatware immediately after use to avoid stains; food that is left on flatware to dry may leave stains. Also, don't leave it standing in water for a long period of time to avoid damage.

* If your stainless steel flatware does stain, using a worn toothbrush or fine natural-bristle brush, gently scrub the stains with a paste made from water and baking soda, and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

I would add the following:

* Place knives pointing down in a separate dishwasher basket from the rest of the utensils to minimize the contact of the sharp edges with the other utensils.

I always wash these pieces in the dishwasher and actually use lemon-scented detergent. I have also accidentally left some flatware pieces in standing water for a day. Thankfully, none of the pieces have any stains or damage. The pieces of the previous Oneida set that I had would stain after just two hours when they were left in standing water.

I really like this set and the gold plating makes it looks very regal -even better than the sets used at fancy restaurants. Treat yourself with a very elegant, better than restaurant style experience when you eat at home! Every time you look at this set, you will remember the hard work that you do, just like the fishermen with the fish nets and baskets. You won't be sorry with the purchase of this set!

Reizen Pro Knife with Slicing Guide

Reizen Pro Knife with Slicing GuideMy knife work is not chef quality; with this type of knife I don't have to wait and work years to gain those skills. I've used other better quality serrated knives with guides, they're excellent for repetitive or very fine slicing of meats and vegetables. This one, not so much. The guide is stamped, not forged or cast, and the guide adjustment set screw is threaded into plastic, so I don't have much hope for it lasting long. Because of those to factors, when set to slice very thin, the guide and blade are not parallel, resulting in slightly wedge shaped slices. Of course, the knife I would buy instead is $85: Amazon.com: Victorinox Cutlery Precise Slice Knife, Right Hand: ...

You can't cut anything with the guide attached because it sticks down lower than the blade. We've tried many configurations to make it work. Including having what we're cutting hanging off a chopping block, but we don't have a chopping block tall enough (it sticks way below the blade). Don't waste your money on this knife.

Great knife for anyone who bakes their own bread. Blade is sharp and the guide is adjustable. I love mine.

Design of the guide in relation to the cutting edge prevents you from cutting all the way through. In order to use it one must lift the bread off the cutting board in order to be able to use the knife as intended. This produces a ragged and lousy cut.

Zwilling J. A. Henckels Miyabi 5000S Chutoh Mid-size Utility Knife

Zwilling J. A. Henckels Miyabi 5000S Chutoh Mid-size Utility KnifeThis is a very versatile knife to have in any kitchen.

If you're looking for an all around knife I would more then suggest the Chutoh from Miyabi. The length is perfect for any job. The design not only looks beautiful hanging up on my magnetic knife rack, it is also amazingly comfortable to hold in my hand. The knife has the quality you can trust with a Henckels Two Man, and for this price really, what are you waiting for.

I'm not a professional cook but as the person in my household who enjoys doing the cooking, I've formed some opinions on this knife. I have several other Henckels knives but this is by far the thinest and sharpest blade in my collection. The asymetric handle is contoured to fit the curvature of your palm and fingers, reducing fatigue and making it easier to be accurate with the blade. The 6 inch length is perfect. Craftsmanship and finish is very high, all the way to the kanji character engraved in the end of the grip. Nice touch for a sushi knife.

I haven't found the need to sharpen it yet as it has kept the factory edge, even after several months of fairly moderate use. This knife holds an edge! And the stainless steel makes it easy to care for, unlike high carbon steel blades which can stain or rust unless immediately dried and oiled.

This knife is ideal for fine cuts to thawed meat or poultry without bones, vegetables, and anything else that doesn't require a lot of cutting force. While sharp enough to do most of that, cutting requiring heavier force would best be done by a heavier butcher knife or a cleaver. This has become my favorite kitchen knife but IMO the slender, thin design of the blade might limit how one is likely to use it.

I bought it a few weeks ago. I guess it's a good knife except that the package of it has a few of scrapes.

The design for the knife is great. The blade is made of special formula steel. The knife can split a paper easily which shows the quality of the blade is very good. The part which is close to the handle has a radian and is smooth. This is good for washing tiny scran and help with cleaning germs. The hand feeling is also good! I like the design of it. There is a elegant kanji at the bottom of the handle. The knife is awesome!

Chef's Choice 220 Hybrid Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, White and Brushed Stainless Steel

Chef's Choice 220 Hybrid Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, White and Brushed Stainless SteelThis has been one of the best things I have purchased for my kitchen. I have had my set of sharpening stones and oil for many years. I do enjoy at times spending a Saturday sharpening my knifes and dulling my cares away. However there are those times that I need to sharpen a knife in a hurry and this product fits the bill. It will put a great edge on your kitchen knifes in record time and is easy to store away when finished. Get this especially if you do not know how to sharpen and have just purchased a new knife every time one has gone dull. You will not regret purchasing this sharpener!!!

I've needed a sharpener for quite some time. I knew my knives were in rough shape when I could use a cheap hand held and actually notice a difference.

I really didn't think I could justify an expensive sharpener when all I need to do it correct and them maintain the edges.

I was right, mine were rough!! It took a little more than the instructions said in order to get the edge corrected on mine, but since I did, I've hit them on the manual hone side for a couple of strokes and I'm slicing like a mad man!

For the home casual cook that isn't sharpening blades constantly and only needs to fix then maintain good edges this thing is great and at a price I almost passed on because it was so low!! I thought I'd still need to spend a lot more to get a good sharpener, even for my needs. At first when I realized what they meant by "hybrid", meaning what you use the most is manual, not power, I was disappointed, until I used it. It really does only take a stroke or 2 to touch up the edge and it's easy to do without having to pull it out and plug it in. It's not fancy looking but it's built really solid and easy to use and easy to store.

As the instructions will warn, it may leave faint rub marks on some blades and it did on 1 or 2 of mine. But they're faint and not a problem. It may also be me, using it for the first time.

I'd highly recommend this sharpener.

I was a little timid at first to use an electric sharpener on my expensive Henckels but after I did, I was impressed with the nice edge it put on all of my knives. The price was very reasonable as well and I would highly recommend this product!

Bought one of these because my somewhat expensive knives were getting dull. It works great. I tried the "paper test" on an old Henckel knife I had. If you hold a sheet of paper in one hand a sharp knife should be able to easily slice it from top to bottom and you should be able to cut curves. My old knife badly mangled the paper before sharpening and afterwords it sliced with ease. This sharpener is also easy to use. I bought another one for our vacation house.

Hampton Forge Tomodachi 14pc Knife Set

Hampton Forge Tomodachi 14pc Knife SetMy knives were old and cheap and it was time for an upgrade. Victorinox Forged 17-Piece Knife Set with Block

Victorinox Forged 17-Piece Knife Set with BlockIncredibly solid, sturdy, well-balanced feel. As soon as you draw a knife out of the block it has your attention as a serious piece of workmanship. Without any introduction to the set my brother-in-law cut a slice of sourdough with the bread knife, took a long look at the blade, felt the balance a bit, and proclaimed "I think this is the first bread knife I've ever seen that I would actually use for self defense." Nobody's suggesting these be used as a weapon of course, but the comment does speak to the quality. Even the shears are really remarkable.

The knives are wonderful to use as well. The factory edge on the blades is mind-boggling. They cut almost like straight razors but without the need for constant sharpening. When I first realized the steak knives weren't serrated I was a bit worried but having used them I can say they cut far better than any serrated steak knife I've used and will be easier to keep sharp.

The complement of included knives is very balanced. At first I thought the chef's knife might be a little too big for most tasks but it handles so supremely that it is still easy to use for any size job from chopping garlic up to slicing / dicing large onions. This was a big deal to me to be able to have a single go-to knife for general meal prep. I also recently used the boning knife for a bone-in honey baked ham and effortlessly had perfect slices down to the bone. My wife is crazy about the veggie knife. No matter what job you have there's a choice in this set to make your job easy.

The bamboo block looks surprisingly nice in person. I think bamboo can sometimes be written off as a cheap / eco-trendy option, sometimes rightly so, but this in no way feels like some temporary "oh that's the one that came with the set" block that I'll be replacing in a couple years. The bamboo is very well put together, very nicely finished, and very solid. And without the slightest hint of cheap about it the bamboo is extraordinarily beautiful. If you want oak and nothing can change your mind that's your opinion, but for my money this particular bamboo block leaves nothing to be desired.

I chose this set over similar Wusthof and Henckels sets when I found out they included stamped steak knives. I know there are some fine stamped blades out there but I personally see forged blades being in another category and although the sets with stamped steak knives cost less up front when I looked up the cost of the set of matching forged steak knives I would need someday if I got the other brand I decided it was silly to spend that much money on a knife set with the intention of having to buy part of the set over again.

The Victorinox selection is also a bit more comprehensive than the competition's in my opinion. I don't feel like I have to add a santoku or a nice chef's knife or a boning knife or have a couple more steak knives in a drawer because everything is included.

The only "con" to this set is the price. All I can say about that is that I think it's worth every penny.

Hope this helps!

I noticed that the description does not include exactly which knives are included. Victorinox is a great brand and if you want good knives at a decent price, this might be a good option for you.

Shun Kitchen Shears

Shun Kitchen ShearsI test drove many, many products by every name brand while shopping for kitchen shears, and the moment I lifted these shears out of the box and held them in my hands, I knew the search for meat and poultry shears was over. It was one of those "So this is the dining room" moments.

These are the Rolls Royce of kitchen shears. They are beefy enough to use on chicken bones and include a bone notch for that purpose, but are relatively lightweight and incredibly comfortable to use. The blades are extremely tough and sharp; the blade action is sublimely smooth. My only quibble with these shears is that I would prefer the blade tips be a tad sharper, but that is a minor quibble since these shears are dedicated for meat and poultry; I have other shears with smaller, sharper blade tips if I need them.

If you don't need to trim meat and poultry, these shears may be overkill for you. I also own both Fiskars and Victorinox kitchen shears and can unhesitatingly recommend them both for general kitchen use, although the Victorinox shears do not come apart for cleaning. In my humble opinion, the Shun shears are the ONLY general purpose kitchen shears on the market to use with poultry. If you do much trimming of meats or butchering of poultry, buy these shears!

(A cautionary note: Shun and Kershaw are now the same company. Please don't even consider buying the less expensive Shun or Kerhsaw "Taskmaster" shears before going to a store and comparing the two by holding them in your hands and testing them. The difference in the quality between the "Taskmaster" and these shears is night and day.)

When trying to decide whether or not to purchase these shears I wanted to see some reviews but there weren't any. I decided to buy them anyway and I just got them today so I wanted to leave feedback in case anyone is in the same boat, even though I haven't really used them too much. I'll start off by saying I'm a man with average sized hands.

First, these have a weight to them that my other kitchen shears Chicago Cutlery and Wustoff don't have, most likely because they use metal through the handle as you can see in the picture. The handles are made with a rubber-like material that is very easy to grip, wet or dry. They feel better in my hands than the other 2 sets I have, mainly because they have exactly enough space for all 4 of my fingers. They are extremely smooth out of the box and *very* precise. I say this because when I took them out of the box I pulled them apart to inspect them closer. I then tried to put them back together and wasn't able to. After a few minutes of fooling around with them I realized there was the tiniest little spec of dust on 1 of the blades. After removing it the blades snapped back together perfectly and feel as solid as ever.

I'll add more feedback after I use them for a little while but I've got to say, so far I've very impressed and seem to be worth the extra money they are definitely shun quality.

Buy Shun Kitchen Shears Now

As I get older, (way too fast), I find myself slower and less sure when cutting awkward items in the kitchen; like taking out a chicken or worse, a turkey backbone. A cut I used to make easily as doing a brass zipper hangs and I find myself trying to force pry a sharp chef's knife tip through bone joints. With the strength I'm putting into it, all it takes is one slip and the knife becomes a dangerous wild edge.

I've watched cooking shows with interest where the chef grabs a pair of scissors and snips safely through these same bony sections. Only when I've checked out the poultry snips in various stores, I've thought them uninspiring and sometimes horrid. Some are cheap stamped steel, some were flimsy, and others were polished or chromed but never meant to be real tools. After fifty years of using cutlery and slowly upgrading to high quality knives I've learned to be leery of steel marketed to be showy but not truly designed for efficient work.

Currently I only own one Shun knife, but I do admit to lusting for more of their knives. Unless Shun is terrifically marked down I just don't have an excuse to retire a Wusthof. I will spring for a Shun to fill a void though.

Truth be told, my Shun scissors arrived today and I really haven't used them yet. I was disappointed to find them in a blister pack and I only checked into Amazon to verify they were the right pair. A blister pack definitely cheapens them, handling the scissors convinced me though; easily twice as beefy as other poultry shears I`ve handled.

Like:

Heavy through the handle solid steel, short blades with long handles contributing to great leverage (think tin snips). Easy disassembly and cleaning, cuts everything I've used it on. I'm defrosting chicken right now so I can try them out in the kitchen later on.

Not so great:

The snips are finished a little rough. Edges not meant to be sharp are sharp, grinder marks are left on the cutting edges. I used a diamond hone and rounded the sharp corners and sharpened the cutting edges till the grinder marks were gone.

Dislike:

All right, maybe I was expecting too much, but the steel used in these scissors is not a hard knife steel. Grinder marks that should have taken an hour or more to remove if I was removing them from a wood chisel, were removed in less than ten minutes. This steel is soft relative to good cutlery steel. I suspect there was a tradeoff in utilizing rustproof stainless versus rust resistant high carbon steel. I'd rather Shun designed these for people who care about their tools instead of the fools who'd leave blood or salt on them. Well, I touch up or sharpen even my best knives every use, I guess I can retouch the edge of these scissors frequently too.

I bought these scissors around March of 2012. I've got the Ken Onion 10 inch chef's knife, the 7" santoku, a couple paring knives, sharpening stone and a bamboo slot block to hold them all. I bought these scissors to go into the front of the block and match my set. The only reason I bought this pair of scissors was because of the good reviews by the others and because of the brand.

These are not good reasons to buy this pair of scissors. Out of the box they cannot cut plastic bags which is one of the primary things I do when I open frozen salmon, veggies, etc. The tolerance they put into the connector holding the two sides together is too great.

Additionally the handles are NOT made with as advertised on this page with Ebony-black PakkaWood. It's just cheap plastic.

Finally, the leverage for cutting through food is not that great because they have the focal point so far from the hand. If you don't have strong, big hands like mine you will not be able to effectively use these scissors. My wife cannot use them.

I'm stuck with these because I did not return them within the 30 days, but there's much better out there especially for this price.

These scissors do not match the quality of the Ken Onion Shun line of cutlery.

The Shun Shears cut through the backbone of a chicken as though it was butter. After years of working on a computer, my hands have lost a lot of strength. These shears are very helpful. They are well-designed and easily come apart for cleaning. They are pricey, but worth every penny!

Sani-Safe 2-3/4" Oyster Knife, New Haven Pattern, White Handle

Sani-Safe 2-3/4' Oyster Knife, New Haven Pattern, White HandleI thought that I wasn't strong enough to open oysters because I couldn't open them with a Progressive brand oyster knife. I found I can open them with this knife. It is a much better design. However, I have only had this knife a week and it has lots of pitted areas. The quality of the steel leaves something to be desired. I would have given it 5 stars if it had better quality steel.

I have two of these knives that I've taken out to shell Pacific oysters with. The knives work well on small and medium size oysters, and also work (with considerable effort) on large oysters (10"+).

With a tough enough oyster, we've managed to chip and snap the blade. Sure, one of us had very poor technique, but I didn't really expect the knife to break.

I'd definitely buy this knife again, but be careful with massive oysters. They have enough strength to damage your knife you you torque it too much.

Good Living Deluxe Pizza Cutter

Good Living Deluxe Pizza CutterCuts pizza well, but the handle is made of something that feels slightly sticky no matter how much I wash it. Grip is a little awkward.

I actually ordered it as a cake decoration tool and it did a good job. I am sure it cuts pizzas well too. For the price its good.

Kuchenprofi Parma Cheese Knife in 18/10 Stainless Steel

Kuchenprofi Parma Cheese Knife in 18/10 Stainless SteelI was skeptical about the idea of a special knife just for cheese, but now I'm sold. It really does make a big difference, both in the ease of the cut and the straightness. Only tiny shreds stick to the blade, and only at the top. The handle is comfortable to hold and the knife feels well-balanced.

I haven't yet used the prongs on the end for picking up bits of cheese, but they look cool, so what the heck.

This Kuchenprofi Parma Cheese Knife is absolutely incredible for slicing TOMATOES! Take a tomato, hold it in the palm of your hand and using this knife you can control the thickness -or the thinness of your slice. I'm thinking of ordering a second one for a back-up. Other knives tend to shred/tear the tomatoe -this doesn't.

The knife works well on all cheezes I've tried. The curved point makes a great leverage point for the harder cheezes. Simple, clean lines.

This is great for cheese parties. It cuts all kinds of cheese with ease. Everybody at the party wanted to know where I got it. You can't find at your local stores. Also cuts tomatoes nice an thin

This was my first experience with a cheese knife of this type, so I don't know if the problem I have with slicing is universal to this style of knife or not. When I cut a piece of cheese from a large block, like a 2 lb. size, the knife just will not cut a straight line. The blade is too flimsy to go straight. I'm back to cutting with my butcher knife.

ForkChops Set of Six, Black

ForkChops Set of Six, BlackI've always used chopsticks, and was interested to find this unique twist to the item. They are made of plastic, which try as I might to picture otherwise, always made them feel really cheap and disposable. The top of the chopsticks where the fork and knife are would constantly bump into each other when in use as chopsticks, unless positioned just right with the widths of the knife and fork running parallel to each other. The fork and knife themselves didn't work well for me. The plastic was just too thick for them to really be effective utensils in and of themselves. If anything, I used the knife tip to shovel a few loose pieces of rice and sauce in some direction, but could hardly use it to actually cut anything. Pieces of food I pierced with my fork would not be picked up. They would have holes poked in them, but I could not get the fork to pick it up (the plastic is slippery and the food just slides right off). I could poke holes in food much easier with the chopstick end if that was all I wished to do.

Overall, fun item to look at and a novelty gift (I will probably make a random gift of leftover unused pairs), but not very efficient for purposes of eating. I would rather stick with the traditional chopstick.
