Wolfgang Puck Dual-Blade Electric Carving Knife with Rotating Handle

Wolfgang Puck Dual-Blade Electric Carving Knife with Rotating HandleNice knife. I had a Cuisinart, but the switch became defective after a few years of use, so I bought a replacement --different model number (CEK-40), but essentially the same. It died (same switch problem) after my initial use --just trying it out. Amazon, of course, took it back without any hassle. So I got the Wolfgang Puck knife --had to wait a bit, as it was announced but not released. The blades seem a bit long to me, but that is minor. It works perfectly, and looks really solid. I've used it about a dozen times by now, mostly carving roasted chicken.

I recently purchased the Wolfgang Puck Dual-Blade Electric Carving Knife with Rotating Handle from Amazon. It was the first electric knife I've ever purchased. I was tempted to buy a cheaper model by a different manufacturer, but after reading all the reviews, I took the advice of one reviewer and chose a more expensive model hoping it would be my first and last electric knife. I have used it twice in 2 weeks and all I have is good things to say about it. It is easy to use, comes with regular blades and blades for frozen food, has plenty of power and the rotating handle allows you to maintain a cutting position that is comfortable for you. I recommend this electric knife to anyone who has high expectations on performance. It's worth the money.

I've had mine for years and altho' I don't use this everyday, when I do need it, it performs as needed. It has two sets of blades, one for more solid surfaces (partially frozen meats) and the main blade for slicing regular meats and cheeses or whatever else you can think of. The rotating body allows you to do horizontal cuts, for example, to butterfly a piece of meat that is narrow in height. Your hand doesn't have to twist in an awkward holding position.

The Wolfgang Puck WPEKF015 Dual-Blade Electric Carving Knife with Rotating Handle is well built. The rotating handle provides easy slicing angles with much better cut control than knives with stationary handles requiring the operator to rotate the wrist to the proper angle. The blades are extremely sharp to facilitate quick cutting to the thickness you want.

I've owned a number of electric knives from several manufacturers. My knives get a workout but I try to buy the best and consequently expect a lot from them. This is by far the worst I have ever owned. Maybe it was defective but I don't think so. It just doesn't cut... anything.

The first use was not an easy task cleaning fish. Not only would it not cut through the bones on relatively small catfish (3 to 5 lbs) but it wouldn't even cut through the boneless part of the fish without shredding the meat. After pretty much destroying the first fish I went back to my old standby Cuisine Art knife. The blades are pretty dull on it after years of use but compared to the WP knife it was great.

I played around with the new knife, tried both sets of blades, tested it on a couple different things, and it just plain won't cut much more than hot butter. So today I packed it up and sent it back. I'm going to order another Cuisine Art.

I ordered the WP based on the reviews. That's the only reason I think maybe there's a chance it was defective. Amazon reviews are usually dead-on.

I'll give Amazon 5 stars for ease of returning something. That part was great!
