I have used this gadget for a year. It makes evenly crushed garlic in seconds. It works best if the garlic clove is cut into at least two pieces first. Several cloves can be done at once. This item seems over priced, since it is just molded plastic. However, I have crushed a lot of garlic with mine and it works fine. I had previously worn or broken at least four metal ones, (three of those were OXO Brand that came with a lifetime warranty). We have given these crushers as gifts and the feedback has been positive. One caveatit takes a lot of wrist action to use. If you have wrist problems, it would not be a good choice.

Someone else commented that he just bought a poor quality fake Chinese import unit and the teeth has already broken off so buyers need to be very careful. The genuine unit is only made in the US by NexTrend and it has a lifetime warranty. Additionally fake imports often use the cheap plastic called SAN Styrene Acrylonitrile that is often recycled from unknown source could be from a some city dump and should never come in contact with food for human consumption Copycat units are imported from Asia of very poor quality with mincing teeth are prone to break off and can be bitten hard by someone or get swallowed. I'd stay away from this counterfeit "Garlic Twist" like plague.

I use garlic heavily in cooking and have been through many garlic presses over the years. This is an innovative and excellent product. Minces thoroughly and doubles as a crusher for easy peeling of the cloves before you put them in the device. What I like best is how easy it is to clean--just rinse it off. It does require a bit of hand strength though so it might not be the thing for your 80 year old mother. It remains to be seen how durable the teeth are, but six months of regular use and it's holding up perfectly. The plastic is high quality and it is heavy for its size. This was my one-size-fits-all Christmas gift this year.

Update: Here we are in March of 2013 and after three years of regular use the garlic twist crusher is going strong. Plenty durable I'd say. I also use it to mince shallot to put in salad dressing. Nifty and friendly little tool!

Being an avid cook, I use garlic frequently. This press makes mincing fresh garlic easy and fast. It does a better job than I can do with a knife. Don't ever want to be without it.

I bought this little gadget some weeks ago, I do have arthritis but once I got it going, it works very well and does just what is suppose to do. I like it and recommend it, if you need minced garlic or ginger.....
