OMNI V Blender 3 HP Heavy Duty Professional, Multi-Speed, Timer, 6 Knives Blade

OMNI V Blender 3 HP Heavy Duty Professional, Multi-Speed, Timer, 6 Knives BladeThe best bang for the buck. Blends everything just like the Vitamix and Blendtec... little longer (in the seconds) blending. Done! Super fine smoothies and soups. Really happy!

I first tried a Vitamix, but it was way too expensive and did much more than I needed. I returned it, and THEY REFUNDED ALL of my money, AND sent me a paid shipping label to return it (as it should be)! I found the Omni online, and it cost less, so I thought I would try it. The owner told me my money would be refunded if it didn't work for me. He said NOTHING about me paying for both initial and return shipping! Bottom line I needed a tamper for every smoothie, even when do everything correctly. Not cool got very tired of it. Saw the Blendtec at Costco, and you don't even need a tamper for that one built way better too. I returned the Omni and he charged me for both shippings!!! I suggest you get a Blendtec instead very powerful, simple, sturdy and easy to clean. LOVE MY BLENDTEC!!! Owner of largest health food store in Alaska swears by Blendtec too!

Wilton Angled Spatula with Black Handle

Wilton 13 Inch Angled Spatula With Black HandleMy wife is taking a Wilton class in cake decoration in one of the major craft stores. I am helping her and at the same time are enjoying our sweet and greasy bonding. (I am serious; if you want to cut down on cakes and pastries, just take a class on cake making. We are both shocked on how much poundage of confectioner sugar and blocks and blocks of lard that goes with the icing.)

Anyway, this 13 inch angled spatula is a great product. There are no sharp or rough corners. The rounded handle feels just perfect in your hand. It is not too thin and it is not too thick. The angle feels just right for easy spreading of icing either on the top or around the cake. Easy to wash.

Jennifer,

I found using the 9" Wilton angled spatula with black handle more useful for frosting a typical cake. The larger one, you have to keep bending your elbow and twisting your body to use it, not comfortable. The 9" refers to the entire spatula, including the handle,as all the other spatualas measurements. I love these spatulas, they are the best I have ever used. I would buy them again, or maybe for a friend or family member. On the email I received, it said to click on a certain spot to update my old review, I did this and it said it would only bring me to Amazon.com home page, so I had to write a seperate review. I hope you will find it. To bad I can not flag this updated review some how.

Sincerely,

Super Chef DavidWilton 9 Inch Angled Spatula, With Black HandleI inserted a product link, I have never done this before, so I do not know if this will be helpful or not. I really hope so.

Simple things, like the feel of a well made tool for either your kitchen or your workshop, is worth its weight in, well maybe not gold, but darn close to it. I love to bake, and although my cakes usually taste wonderful, its when I try my hand at frosting that they definitely look homemade. THIS spatula helps me to achieve a much smoother surface.

The handle is wide enough for me to hold comfortably (carpel tunnel issues) and since its not wooden, its dishwasher safe. The weight/balance is very nice, the length is perfect for those larger pastries (strudels) that I love to create and as mentioned before, I can really slather on the buttercream to my heart's content with fluid precision. (Yes, I take my baking that seriously.)

As a gift for a child just starting to show an interest in baking, why not buy this great spatula and a few more things like an apron, mixing bowl with a handle, rubber spatulas and a set of bamboo spoons?

New tools always inspire cooks to greatness-and you get to be their taste tester!

I purchased both the 13" and the 9" spatulas, so I will review both together. Iam learning how do cake decorate. I like the angled handles on these spatulas. I decorated a cake the other day and was amazed how easy it was to work with these tools. Again I say, if anyone has trouble with their wrists or arms, or shoulders, this is the tool for you. Hope you enjoy working with these tools as much as I do.

Sincerely,

David Super Chef

This angled spatula is of good quality, but please pay attention to the measurements -the length includes the handle, and the blade itself is narrow -to me this is only a cupcake-icing spatula. I have to learn to pay more attention to "real" measurements...I thought the blade was 9 inches. So now I need about a 16 inch one! Nice kitchen tool, but small.

3.25 Straight Paring Knife --- 1 Each.

3.25 Straight Paring Knife --- 1 Each.
  • Handle: Rosewood
  • Blade Size: 3-1/4"
  • Type: Small

As soon as I saw the deal, I had to purchase 2. I had one for many years; always fairly sharp and got the job done for relatively small hands pretty quickly so I had to pick up another one. My husband also comments how easy to handle this paring knife is also. It isn't a knife that scares you because of how sharp it looks but doesn't perform, it is sharp and comfortable for many tasks in the kitchen.

Hampton Forge Tomodachi 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife, Yellow

Hampton Forge Tomodachi 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife, YellowI got this for my yearly summer camping trip, I'm the cook of the group & I needed a knife that had a cover so I could put it in my camping bin. I decided to check it out before the trip to see how it works. Very sharp little knife. It will definitely come in handy cutting all the veggies that we usually consume on our 5 day trip!

This is a great little knife to bring along in the picnic basket or any of the others I may need from the set. Can't beat the price especially with a cover included!

John Boos Newton Prep Master Reversible 18" Square Cutting Board with Juice Groove and Pan

John Boos Newton Prep Master Reversible 18' Square Cutting Board with Juice Groove and PanThis hardwood cutting board is built sturdy and with

precision. It is beautiful as well and fuctional. It is very heavy, so it needs a space where it doesn't need to be moved each time it is used.

I love this cutting board! Used it over the holiday's with a nice big juicy turkey on it to carve and the juices ran right into the pan and we were able to add them to the gravy. The drip pan is also convenient for pushing aside scraps when cutting vegetables and other things just pull out and toss. A nice solid board with the flip side being smooth, it has a nice working space for cutting up just about every thing. Be warned, it is heavy and the metal drip pan is not attached, it slides in lose so I have dropped it a few times when I have moved my board.

Bron Original Stainless Steel Mandolin Slicer

Bron Original Stainless Steel Mandolin SlicerI have used many different slicers (V-type, diagonal) and this stainless steel Bron which I also own is my favorite by far. The Borner V slicer I own does not have legs and is thus unstable, it is okay for quick non-uniform shredding and slicing. This model has it's own legs so your two hands can focus on the cutting. If you simply pay attention to where the blades are (put the cell phone down), you shouldn't cut yourself. It has a sliding guard for the food to rest in which attaches to the mandoline (which in the picture of the item is shown attached upside-down) and I believe to be safer than the free floating guards of the others. One plus of the steel construction is absolutely true uniform slices which are produced, which has not been experienced with plastic slicers. If you have the money, it is a great investment that should last you your lifetime.

Realy happy with the perfomance of this mandoline so far. Had it for about 2 weeks now and it is way better than the last mandoline I owned. Of course it was a bit more expensive than the last one but well worth it to me. I saw one in local store at nearly double the price ($280.00) so $150.00 was a great deal.

The safety gaurd is easy to use and solid stainless construction. The last one I owned had a cheap plastic gaurd and it was not guided on rails like this one. The guided safety gaurd prevents slipping when cutting hard root vegetables and damaging the blade (or myself).

The blades for this one are all self contained on the madonline and rotate and lock into position. The straight blade is very sharp so be sure to raise the upper sliding surface above the blade to avoid cutting yourself when haddling/storing the item.

Storage Really happy that all of the blades and the gaurd can store together on the machine. It looks good left out in the open as well. It hangs a little funny off the rack when hung by the support leg since it swivels out, but I may drill a hole near the top to get it to hang straight up and down.

Be sure to read and understand the instruction booklet provided with it.

After much research this was my first choice until actually using the de Buyer dicing mandoline form William and Sonoma. I knew I wanted a quality and versatile mandoline that would last for years to come as well as do the job with consistent results. I've used two other mandolines, the OXO mandoline and de Buyer dicing mandoline, this is the only one that will give consistent slicing thickness at 1mm or less thickness between slices as well as from one end to the other end of the slice (where most failed continually)

It's not made clear on amazon.com but this particular Bron mandoline come with the 10mm and 3mm julienne blades. 2mm blades would be nice sometimes but cutting 3mm x 1mm yields a similar cut that is nice in its own right. You can always purchase the blade set with the 2mm and (8mm / 4.5mm) blades separately. This brings me to a fantastic attribute to this mandoline. If you somehow break something you can purchase every single part separately!

The Good and great: It cuts perfectly at any thickness. The blades are super sharp. The guard a bit odd at first compared to the deBuyer but in the end superior in my opinion as the guard really transmits pushing power and isn't a hindrance at all. Blades are riveted in for strength. Its stainless steel where it counts. It doesn't need a non stick surface for the food to slide down because the polished SS is slicker than anything else. Julienne blades are fixed to the mandoline. All one piece so no cheap plastic blade holders to fall off as in the de Buyer dicing model. Separate blades fro crinkle and straight. Collapsible feet that fold neatly out of sight. It looks beautiful leaned against the wall on your countertop!

The slightly less fortunate: The rubber on the feet slide more on some countertops than other models (either hold at the cross bar on the legs or sit on large wood cutting board) The guard doesn't work for the crinkle blade (buy the Microplane Cut-Resistant Glove for $10-15). Only comes with two julienne blades.

Nothing is perfect generally but I do with the guard worked for the crinkle blade. I would have paid the extra for the additional SS required but the quality of the product out weights the few negative things.

In the end if you are looking to spend more than fifty bucks on a mandoline spend the extra and get this. You will be able to give it to your grand kids some day!

Note about Photo. The Amazon photo of this is slightly wrong. Guard is backward and the legs also fold out with the vertical support from the base of the legs to the top as pictured on many other websites.

First of all, I want to say that my Bron mandoline came razor sharp out of the box. Anyone that says that their's is dull must have gotten a defective unit, or else they have it set up backwards, but I don't think that anyone would do that. Those who say it's unsteady must definitely have it set up wrong, because the Bron mandoline is very steady and heavy duty, so that you can concentrate on cutting instead of having to hold it with one hand like most of the cheaper ones.

Mine is sharp enough to cut sweet potatoes into thin slices. But, this is not the kind of mandoline to use on tomatoes. A V blade mandoline is better for that. I hate mandolines that you have to hold with one hand, and the v blade mandolines I've used in the past were a pain to use compared with this one. I use a chef's knife to cut tomatoes with, and if it is sharp enough you can cut paper thin slices of even the ripest tomatoes. There are dedicated tomato slicers that don't cost much more than this mandoline if you really need something to cut tomatoes with.

I would recommend getting a braided stainless steel or kevlar butcher's glove to protect your fingers and hand. The first time I used my mandoline, I knicked my finger while cutting a cucumber. At first, I saw no blood, but a few minutes later the wound started bleeding profusely, and I started to use the guard when the vegetable gets down to a couple of inches. You can't really use the guard until the vegetable is that small as the handle of the guard pivots on a hinge and a large piece just will not fit. You could cut the vegetable into smaller pieces and then use the guard, but I think that kind of defeats the purpose of saving time and getting uniform slices by using a mandoline like this one.

I watched Jacques Pepin use this same mandoline on "Julia & Jacques Cooking At Home" and learned to use the palm of your hand to hold the vegetable down, and I cut 5 pounds of potatoes into thin slices in less than 5 minutes with no guard, and better yet, no cuts. You just have to slow down on the last couple of cuts on each vegetable. You should take it slow at first and then go faster as you develop your technique, kind of like when using a knife.

You can make juliennes of 3 and 10 mm with the blades that come with the straight cutting blade. You could always use the straight blade to get the proper thickness, and then julienne by hand if you need other thicknesses than those. There's also another size of julienne blades that you can find online. There is a ruffled blade as well, that can make waffle cuts and the like. Now I don't use that blade as much, but it's fun to make homemade waffle fries for people and then they always want to know how it's done. There are videos on you-tube on how to set up and use this fine mandoline. The video from Bron-Coucke even shows basic maintenance for the mandoline, including sharpening the straight blade on a stone. I highly recommend watching that video before using the mandoline, and I wish that I had. You can even buy spare parts for it if you do an internet search.

I have to say again, that anybody whose Bron mandoline is dull, is defective and should return it if they can, because mine and almost all of the other ones purchased are very sharp and very steady. If you want to cut vegetables and fruits (but not tomatoes) quickly and uniformly, then the Bron-Coucke mandoline will do the job very efficiently, and for a very long time.

This mandoline is a sturdy and well-made tool, excellent for making even and precise slices, shoestring potatoes (pommes allumettes), waffle-cut potatoes, ordinary French fries, and so on. I have had mine for about 15 years, and it works like new.

The main problem with it is that it's expensive. There are inexpensive plastic slicer/shredders available, such as Benriner (often sold in Japanese and Korean grocery stores), which work just as well. In fact, they're actually better for very fine slices and shredding. If you only want to make French fries, you're probably better off getting a French-fry cutter, which is faster, but it's hard to get blades fine enough for true shoestrings.

The Benriner plus a French-fry cutter together will cost about half as much as the mandoline, and work as well or better; of course, they are nowhere near as heavy-duty, but that won't matter for most home users.

The Bron mandoline has a couple of minor disadvantages. On older models, the feet would scratch countertops, but I believe this has been fixed now. Although most parts are stainless, the rivets and screws do rust a little; this has not been a problem.

The pusher does not work very well. On the other hand, this is a dangerous tool used without the pusher -it produces especially ugly cuts if you're julienning. My solution is to use a cut-resistant fillet glove (also good for the Benriner). This gives you far better control and thus less waste.

Evriholder Flipper Bytes Sandwich Crust Cutters

Evriholder Flipper Bytes Sandwich Crust CuttersThis is a neat little gadget! I bought it so I could make cute sandwiches for my kids' bento boxes. It works really well. I found that if I sort of smush and flatten the sandwich before you use the cutter it turns out better.

I already have the hearts, trains and dinosaurs, so I was pleased to find the dolphin to supplement our collection.

I love these because they are easy to use and easy to clean. As long as you are using 'typical' sized bread, like Wonder and Nature's Own, there isn't a problem. Just line up the cutter on the bread, make sure you are in a hard, flat surface and push straight down. While pushing, wiggle ever so slightly back and forth to release the crusts from the cutter. Voila! Done.

If the bread is very soft, it will smash the sandwich some. It does take some effort to push it through things like meat and harder cheeses. Sometimes, I would recommend cutting the bread first and separately before you create the sandwich. We like to do this with grilled cheese. Cut the bread, butter the bread, put on the pan and add cheese. Makes it loads easier.

My favorite part is that I can toss these into the dishwasher and not have to think about them again.

The dolphin sandwiches came out really cute. My only criticism is that the cutter was slightly larger then the bread, so some of the dolphins came out a little funny. I had the same issue with the other one I purchased, even though I tried 2 different brands of bread.

Chicago Cutlery Forum 16-Piece Block Knife SetI did lots of research on what to look for in a quality knife set and found this one with almost everything I was looking for at a very reasonalbe price. They are high carbon stainless steel, have forged bolster, full tang, and also has a sharpener in the block set instead of having to buy it seperatley. After receiving them and putting them to use, I am even more pleased that I found them. Would definately recommend them.

I'm happy with my new knife set. They are lighter weight than they look, so they are a breeze to use, but still feel solid, and balance well in my hand. I purposely bought non-wooden handles so I can put them in the dishwasher, and after a half-dozen times there is no damage to their finish. The shape of some of the knives is very different to ones in my old set, and Im having fun learning new ways to use them. I kicked my old knife set to the curb!

Oyster Knife / Shucker - Stainless Steel with Soft Grips HandleI gave this as a gift had it engraved and it was quite a hit with the recipient! I will remember this knife in case I need another. Very good quality!

Not buying this item for myself, I thought that a shorter blade would be good. Apparently I doesn't let you get all the way inside a larger oyster. The protective sheild however is a great idea. It is very sturdy and the grip very helpful to keep from slipping. Unfortunatley the owner may not get much use out of it because the blade is too short. This might be best used on clams....

Ginkgo Bergen 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8

Ginkgo Bergen 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8We got this flatware along with our new dishes and are extremely happy with it.

As some of the other reviewers have mentioned these utensils are solid, you can feel it as soon as you pick them up. They have nice balance and they have strength (Neo would have a tough time bending this spoon).

The included serving utensils are just as nice and just as sturdy.

The brushed steel has a soft satin look and feel to it and the pieces are nicely shaped. I never really liked the intricate, grandma style flower patterns that my mom always had on her silverware, which makes me like these even more.

We use these every day and I have to say I feel a bit spoiled, while they wont be the most expensive pieces of flatware you ever use, I have gotten used to them and tend notice how flimsy most silverware is now.

They are simple, elegant, sturdy and worth the money.

I never thought a person could get so excited about flatware, but i think its such a great design. I've used them everyday for well over a year now and i think its great!

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 6-Inch Utility/Sandwich Knife

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 6-Inch Utility/Sandwich KnifeThere are a lot of new 'High Tech' kitchen knives out that sell for $hundreds$. Even Henckels offers a variation on this theme. But for my wife's money, (the chef in the family), why mess with a good thing. We've had Henkels Twin Four Star knives for probably 20 years and to her they just feel right, hold and edge, and are effortlessly sharpened. So why did I buy her a Twin Star II instead of the older Twin Star? I liked the SS end cap.

Upon inspection, the blade has been reshaped a little to be a bit broader toward the tip but otherwise it's a wonderful SLICING knife. It's the one knife she goes to more than any other; kind of a cross between a paring knife and a chef's knife, (so expect some fexability in the blade). The only thing I'd improve on is the length. 6" can be a bit short for some applications. So guess what I did, I bought her an 8" Twin Four Star II as well. Turns out she loves this one just as much :)

It is one of the best mass-production knife. Sharp, stays sharp, and feels good in the hand. I use this one almost as often as my Santoku knife. These are the two knives that one would need in the kitchen. Between them, they cover 90 percent of your cutting need.

J.A. Henckels International Eversharp 8-Piece Steak Knife Set

J.A. Henckels International Eversharp 8-Piece Steak Knife SetI've owned these set of knives for approx. 2 months . After reading some negative reviews I was somewhat apprehensive about the product , but for the price I decided to give them a try . I am very impressed with this set. They are well built, sturdy , and very sharp. I have run them in the dishwasher several times and have yet to see any problems . The only problem is that they want to discolor if food is not rinsed off prior to going in the dishwasher ,however, the stain can be removed easily . If I had owned this set for 6 months before reviewing it and still didn't have probs. I would definetly give 5 stars .

These knives are a disgrace to the reputation that Henckels worked so carefully to build over the past century. Most of us are buying these thinking of that quality reputation. Be warned these are not quality knives and deserve zero stars. They are extraordinarily flimsy, have cheap plastic handles which aren't even sealed to the wafer thin metal blade, and have large textured rivets that appear so cheap they must be plastic (although they are probably aluminum). Adding to the insult, Amazon shipped me a set labeled as new, yet it had already been opened, the knives were used and unwashed, and had been returned by a previous customer in that state. Sad to see a company like Henckels take their manufacturing to China on these cheap knives and in one quick move destroy a beautiful reputation for quality. I returned the knives immediately and decided that I would not buy another set without seeing them in person first.

I bought the knives to complete the set I got from Costco. Although they are both Henckels International, the quality of the Costco ones are levels better than these steak knives. The Eversharps are a little cheap to live up the Henckels name, but I considered that the cost was quite lower too, so I decided to keep them due to the good value. They are sharper than the steak knives I had before, but you may not want them if you are looking for high-end henckel knives.

I was a little hesitant to purchase these knives because the reviews were either glowing or terrible, but heck, I needed steak knives, and I have purchased Henckels in the past and have been pleased. There was no exception with this purchase. You receive an 8 piece set of micro-serrated knives made of stainless steel. They are secure in the handle, no wiggling at all, they have a nice weight to them and seem to make it through the dishwasher just fine.

This set of knives seem to be a good value at the "just under $30.00" price range, which would also make them a good gift for a shower or wedding if your budget was less than huge. Really, who doesn't need a decent set of steak knives?

Overall, very pleased with the purchase and would definitely recommend this set for value and quality.

Tools of the Trade Cutlery 5 Piece SetI actually bought this set to replace some of the knives in our block set that my husband broke (using them other than for what they were intended to), and am really happy to be able to complete my set again.

LEM Products 1.5 HP Stainless Steel Electric Meat Grinder

LEM Products 1.5 HP Stainless Steel Electric Meat GrinderI recently purchased a LEM #32 Big Bite meat grinder. I must say that if you are really interested in buying a grinder that does what a grinder should do, get this item. This grinder not only glides through beef/fat, chicken and pork, but we could not keep up with the speed of the auger. The Big Bite auger really makes a great difference in how the stock is drawn into the blade. Don't bother wasting your money on a cheaper model. All the dies are very heavy as is the throat. Even the unit is very heavy gauge. Some people say it's noisy. I can not agree with that. I used it for about an hour and a half and was pleased with it as was my wife. Remember Buy once and be satisfied. I can't wait till deer season this year.

Thanks LEM for a product the "honestly works". Make us proud.

I've owned the kitchenaide grinder attachment, I've owned hand crank units. I had a warring grinder. All of them were a hassle to use. I had to cube the meat into tiny pieces. It took hours to grind a few pounds, blah blah blah.

This unit powers through everything no problem. The big bite technology really works.

Clean up is easy on this unit. It's large size allows me to reach all internal areas for a thorough clean.

Plan on getting a separate sausage stuffer. A unit this size is to big to use as the stuffer. It's just to fast.

Besides making sausage other favorites include the following:

I like grinding up chuck and bacon in a 9:1 ratio. This makes the best bacon burger you can get. Family and friends are always requesting me to make them some. another favorite is grinding left over ham for use in ham salad.

The grinder is very well made. The stainless steel parts are hand washable and its pretty easy to clean, but I wish the parts were dishwasher safe. As advertised, the machine grinds chicken necks (for dog food) very easily, but larger bones like chicken legs will jam the grinder so I have to cut the leg bones into small chunks for the machine to handle and use the sausage stuffing plate for a first grind. For grinding boneless meat, it is a great machine and can go as fast as you can feed the pieces.

Victorinox Cutlery 4-Inch Rabbit Utility Knife, Black Fibrox Handle

Victorinox Cutlery 4-Inch Rabbit Utility Knife, Black Fibrox HandleIf you want a sharp, sharp knife at a great price, you've found it! In fact, this knife is SO sharp I learned the hard way (that included a trip to the emergency room) that I need to slice an apple on the cutting board and NOT in my hand! I bought several Victorinox knives and love all of them! Highly recommended!

I bought this from in a set of four Forschner Fibrox knives.

This is a 4-inch "rabbit" utility/paring knife. It's a little big for a paring knife, and the blade is shaped a little funny, but it does that job pretty good. I used it to pare and chop small fruits, peel, cut vegetables, and trim meats. This is a very high-quality knife. Don't let the price fool you one bit. Forschner is made by Victorinox, who know a thing or two about cutlery. I own other Forschner knives and they are very well-made. I own a 4-inch Henckels Professional S parer, and it cost twice as much as this one. The handle on the Henckels has cracked and the blade doesn't stay sharp very long. This knife came from the factory shaving-sharp! One of the sharpest factory knives I've owned so far.

It's not very pretty sitting in my block, but I favor utility and performance over looks in a knife anyways. The Fibrox handle is amazing. It's very grippy even when my hands were wet or slippery, fits the hand well, and looks to be just about indestructable. It also cleans very easily.

The steel is great. I used it (don't recommend this) to cut up about 40 lbs. of card board boxes and it stayed sharp! Card board is a very tough medium to cut and is hard on blades, but this knife held it's edge very well! Plus, it was very easy to sharpen, something you can't say of other knives with good edge-holding ability.

This knife was not at all what I expected but it has turned out to be of great use. I don't know why they call it a "rabbit knife," but it certainly fills a nitch in my knife collection: Large handle and short pointed blade. It is ideal for slicing things when you need lots of pressure and are using more of a stabbing motion. I chose Forschner Fibrox because of the recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. Everything that I have gotten that was recommended by them has been every bit as good as they claimed (and their recipes are incredible). This knife is no exception. My other kitchen knives are Globals, so I think that I am able to speak about quality. Although I have only had it for a few weeks, it remains very sharp, even with a lot of use. How it fairs in the future, and how it resharpens, will really show how great a knife it is.

If the knife gods cursed me to only possess three knives, this would be one of them, along with a chef's knife and a bread knife and all three of them would be Victorinox with Fibrox handles.

This is bigger than a paring knife with a paring knife-like shape. I don't know why it's called a Rabbit knife. Is it because it quick-as-a-rabbit does your cutting tasks, or is it used to skin and dress rabbits?

I'll let those of you who are vegetarians contemplate the "hare-y" horror of that possibility.

This knife can do much of a paring knife's chores and many heavier-duty jobs that a parer just can't do.

It's substantial enough that I use it to break down a whole chicken into 8 pieces and even de-bone the breasts.

It's small enough to cut the stem out of tomato and thinly slice it. The blade is only 4-inches so large tomatoes will be more of a challenge to slice evenly.

The Fibrox handle stays firmly in your hand even when wet or greasy (remember the chicken cutting). I like the handles but they are sort of ugly so you have to be the type who appreciates function over form.

It gets the job done. I only had to sharpen it once ever since I got it. I only hand wash it. The grip maybe too large for smaller hands, however it is very grippy.
