Telebrands 4615 -12 in 1 Kitchen Tool- Chef Basket

Telebrands 4615 -12 in 1 Kitchen Tool- Chef BasketThe thin wire is not very sturdy, it isn't well made (wire ends to poke you) & will bend easily, perhaps burning you if you try to lift something heavy out of the pot & it breaks. Once it gets a little bent, it will not fold flat. If you know anything about cooking, you know you can't jam pack the thing with fries or chicken like they do on TV and expect it to cook evenly or within your lifetimeeven a professional quality deep fryer won't do that. When it's stuffed like they do on TV, you can't stir the food either, so the bottom can burn & food won't cook evenly. Given that & the size (it looks bigger on TV), it won't really cook that much of anything.

Perhaps the worst thing is that the mesh is so large you can't cook anything but big food in it. It will not cook macaroni, spaghetti, or noodles nor will it cook fries except for the big fat wedge ones. It will only cook large whole vegetables & you will lose a lot as pieces of stuff like broccoli tend to break off. It would be useless for potato chunks to make potato salad or mashed potatoes as pieces will break off w/ the wire & then you will need to strain the water w/ your colander....so why would you need this???

I just laugh at those infomercials that try to make you think something you already have that works just fine (i.e. your colander) are so dangerous & hard to use. If you can't use a colander, you probably shouldn't go near the stove & you also probably bought a Snuggie because you couldn't figure out how to work a blanket.

It's a shame that this isn't a better made and designed product. The spaces are so large that the pasta falls through the basket so you still need to strain the pot. And it is a little flimsy it's a shame that it isn't sturdier.

I did not buy Chef Basket from this vendor, so am commenting on the product only. The Chef Basket I received arrived lopsided, bent, shallower than shown on box, with sharp wire ends sticking out to catch your hand. Fortunately Carol Wright Gifts credited my charge card in full, and did not require me to send it back.

This is a great concept and I really wish I could love it more, but I can't. I agree with what another reviewer said that the holes are too large. They are great for large pasta, but not for regular spaghetti, macaroni, etc. Also, after just one wash, we are already starting to see signs of rust around the top rim.

I'm 52 years old and this item has been in my mother's kitchen all my life. In fact, it still is, in her cabinet under the colanders. We used it as a lettuce dryer when I was a kid. Wash the lettuce, load up the strainer, take it outside and swing it around until the water flew off! I loved that.

It was never sturdy enough for even half the uses claimed in the infomercial. I wonder if the original patent expired and someone else picked it up an repackaged it as the "newest tool for your kitchen." Hilarious.

CAT CORA by Starfrit 8-Inch Chef Knife

CAT CORA by Starfrit 8-Inch Chef KnifeVery sharp and easy to handle. The extreme roundness of the point does a good job to roll into the cut. For the money it's good. Too bad it is made in China instead of the US. A couple of swipes through a handheld sharpener and than 10 swipes on a HONING steel, keeps this knife sharp. Keep from denting the edge, blade is thin but great for cutting through. China does use German made steel/stainlass steel for this knife.

Got one of these cause there are no review and

wanted to try something new. Well first off the blade is very sharp

which is a plus for me since non stop cutting/ bulk cutting is required with every knife i use.

Grip is perfect for my big hands, and i love the way it feels with the perfect balance.

Then i was turned off when i first started cutting cause the blade is very flimsy. Mostly at the tip of the knife. All in all enjoyed having and may just use at home but

I will be going back to buy victorinox.

Core Bamboo SDC430 Bamboo Chef's Slicer Knife

Core Bamboo SDC430 Bamboo Chef's Slicer KnifeI couldn't resist trying this out as I love fine cutlery as well as all things bamboo. The construction and ergonomics are surprisingly good. The handle is thick enough to hold nicely. Using my regular steel knife sharpener--the old fashioned kind--I can get a fine edge on it almost as good as steel (and with no saw dust!), but then I do treat it pretty gently. Don't expect this to replace a steel knife, but there are good uses for it. It is as much a conversation piece for me as it is a kitchen tool. I never had problems with cut lettuce turning brown but it was a good excuse to buy this fun but functional toy. Now I can cut cake without scratching the pan.

Knife was not sharp at all... Fine for cutting soft cheese, tomatoes, etc. DON'T try to cut an apple with it! Very disappointed. Glad we only bought one.

Victorinox Cutlery 9-Inch Round Sharpening Steel, Black Plastic Handle

Victorinox Cutlery 9-Inch Round Sharpening Steel, Black Plastic HandleSince I often see these tools reviewed with references made to "sharpening" a knife, it is worth noting that (name not withstanding) they do not sharpen. (Forgive me if you know all of this). If you took a knife which was actually dull, and spent the day using this tool on it, you would never get it sharp. What this tool does do, and well, is repair the damage that ordinary use does to your already sharpened edge. If you look at a freshly sharpened edge under adequate magnification, (try a BelOMO 10x Triplet Loupe Folding Magnifier ) you will see a (more on less) regular edge. Prepare a meal with that knife, and look at it again, and you will see all sorts of small insults to the edge. These flaws can dramatically reduce the performance of a knife which is still actually quite sharp. This tool performs the task of smoothing out those little insults, and allowing you to get the full benefit of the sharp edge which is already present. The steel performs the same task as the leather strop Fromm Razor Strop 2 1/2" X 23" W/HDL Russia which used to hang on the arm of your barber's chair, and in fact I have a leather barber's strop I have used for the task.

While this is a very affordable and useful steel, I would point out that it is only suitable for short knives. Your steel should always be a bit longer than the knife you are polishing with it, and so, while this steel is fine for a boning or paring knife, it is unsuitable for a slicing knife or a large chef's knife. That said, I find the small size convenient for use with small knives, and keep a larger steel for use with my big knives. If you can only afford one steel, you may wish to consider something bigger that would work for both large and small knives. Unless you have a large slicer or other really big knife, a 12" steel is probably big enough for almost all home use.

This is a tool you should be using at least every other time you use your knife. An actual sharpening should only be needed once or twice a year. Keep in mind that using the wrong cutting surface will ruin any edge never cut on glass, marble, Formica, or any hard surface. A hardwood J.K. Adams TCB-2014 20-Inch by 14-Inch Traditional Carver or bamboo Wüsthof Bamboo Cutting Board cutting board is best.

I bought this along with some Forschner knives. So far, those knives have not needed sharpening. However, I pulled some old knives out of the drawer and this quickly and effortlessly improved the edge. The only drawback is that it does not include written instructions. I had to search around online to figure out exactly how to use it. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

The description of the product and the title is confusing due to conflicting descriptions. It is not a Black Fibrox handle as indicated. Even though the title says plastic, product description says Fibrox and since most of Victorinox's knives comes with a Fibrox handle one would assume the sharpening steel's handle as well. Unfortunately it's cheap light weight plastic, hence the 4 star. I can spend less and get a cheap plastic handle with the same quality steel from other companies.

Spatulas - Rosewood Straight Blade 8

Spatulas - Rosewood Straight Blade 8I am very pleased with the quality and appearance of this spatula. I have used it several times and it is exactly what I was looking for.

I was looking for an heir to my 80 year old butter knife. This is a good choice. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a full-tang blade, but what's to be expected for 3.00?

My main use for this will be as a butter/peanut butter/jelly knife. The eight inch length will get to the bottom of most jars.

Personally, I would prefer a longer blade for cake-decorating. I don't like any part of my hand or spatula handle going over the cake.

Delivery was stated to be by the end of August. I didn't get it until mid-September. I didn't get any email from the seller telling me there would be a delay.

P.S....I just clicked on the item to verify some information and I see the price went up to 5.00

Joyce Chen 51-0220, Unlimited Scissor, Red

Joyce Chen 51-0220, Unlimited Scissor, RedI hide these in a kitchen drawer so they don't disappear to other rooms because they're just *perfect* for the kitchen. They're lightweight but sturdy, fit my hand comfortably, don't get slippery, have small tips to fit into odd places, and nicely sharp edges. Moreover, the red color makes them easy to find on a counter. Moved all my other kitchen scissors on. You'll like these.

Want Joyce Chen 51-0220, Unlimited Scissor, Red Discount?

I got these scissors as a stocking stuffer. When I told Santa they turned out to be no good for me, she was taken aback these were supposed to be great scissors, and good for lefties.

The scissors were good for a few uses, but in a short time the hinge loosened to the point that I can't cut anything with them left handed. Most "ambidextrous" scissors are regular right-handed scissors with no special design feature other than a tight hinge. When gripped right-handed, the hand naturally pushes the blades of the scissors together. When gripped left-handed, the blades get pushed apart. Obviously a loose hinge on supposedly ambidextrous scissors makes them no good for left handed people.

Even if I were right-handed and the loose hinge did not make the scissors useless (they do still work right-handed), I would still say that any pair of scissors with a loose hinge after only a couple weeks of normal kitchen use is simply junk. These scissors are expensive junk.

This is a top quality professional spatula.

This product makes life easier in the kitchen. Traditionally it is a fish turner, but I use it for getting anything dense out of a pan. The end of it is angled to facilitate removal, while it is very thin and sharp enough to cut a crust from the pan. The piece is also very flexible which helps with that first piece. All of these features are essential to the wide variety of use possible. I consider this a multi-tasker that will always have a place in my kitchen. With this one you can forget the thick, firm spatulas, except for the BBQ.

I found out after the fact that this was recommend by Burt Wolf in the New Cooks Catalogue. They gave it a very favorable review, but I would say that they underrated it. That is how much I like it.

I recommend this piece.

Stanton Trading 15 by 20 by 1-Inch Cutting Board, White

Stanton Trading 15 by 20 by 1-Inch Cutting Board, WhiteI like it but make sure that you have a large enough space on your counter for it as it is quite large. Both surfaces are lightly textured rather than totally smooth. Also it is not perfectly flat and IMO needs to have non-slip rubber feet installed as it can easily slide around on a formica or or other smooth material counter top. I have ordered some appropriate adhesive feet to install on it to tie it down.

Very close to truly 1" thick. I measured mine as .96" in thickness which I consider close to nominal listed thickness. This is better than the reviewed thickness of some thinner versions which have been reported as considerably thinner than nominal thickness.

Oster 70562.22 Baldwyn 22-Piece Cutlery Block Set, Brushed Satin

Oster 70562.22 Baldwyn 22-Piece Cutlery Block Set, Brushed SatinPros:

sharp

plenty of knives

knife block rotates

dishwasher safe

Cons:

rust

water gets inside the handle

took a while to ship

These knives are not all molded from 1 continuous piece of metal. The blades are separate from the handle, and water gets into the crack where they meet. You have to tilt the knife down to get the water to trickle out. Water trickle isn't a deal breaker for me but it does make me worry about mold.

They survived the dishwasher just fine but after a few days, one of the knives has rust on the blade.

There is a limited lifetime warranty, going to check out how to utilize that...

The knives came individually wrapped in both cardboard and plastic eliminating them from hitting up against each other in the box and dulling. That was nice. I have somewhat limited countertop space so the fact that the block swivels is very convenient. When not using the knives, I can swivel the block so it takes up less forward space. The knives and scissors are quite sharp. I've washed them many times from using them and have seen no rust as others reported. However, as with all my sharp knives, I do handwash them to avoid the rigors inside a dishwasher. I'd definitely recommend these knives if you're looking for quality knives and care to take the time to hand wash. I don't know that the dishwasher would harm them, but it's just good practice to handwash your sharps.

Norpro 300 Garnish Kitchen Tool Set, 5-Piece

Norpro 300 Garnish Kitchen Tool Set, 5-PieceThe only tool in this kit that works well is the crinkle cutter.

The spiral cutter has a fat nylon screw to drive it. It is so thick that it splits carrots. The ring to put your finger in is half as thick as my wedding band so you predrill a carrot with a skewer and then you do two carrots for a sore finger.

The double spiral cutter has but a twist of flat metal before the 8. It won't go anywherre with out lots of hand pressure. The little removable handle that is put on the end isn't shown.

The V saw/knife is light weight steel that one can flex in your hands. If you are patient it will eventually penetrate a pumpkin wall. A good paring knife is far faster.

The knife is tiny with a fraile handle. I threw it out.

The tools either don't work very well, fall apart or cut the user do to cheap manufacturing!

I've tried using all the tools except the knife. The V-cutter works, but the cut is ragged. Using a knife will make a much cleaner cut. Niether the twin curler or the spiral slicer worked well at all. They are cheap and flimsy and do not work even close to as easy as the DVD makes it look. The screw on the spiral slicer does not pull itself through as it's supposed to do and the hole that you put your finger in to turn it is small and hurts. It just spun in place unless I put pressure on the screw while turning. Then it sliced until the screw was flush with whatever you were slicing and spun in place. The twin curler was extremely difficult to put through potatoes and I got a lot of mushed up twirls. I only gave it one star for the knife.

Chef's Choice M450 Diamond Hone Manual Straight Edge Sharpener

Chef's Choice M450 Diamond Hone Manual Straight Edge SharpenerI've had one of these for a year or two, and it works great. It puts a sharp edge on every (non-serrated) knife I've tried, including my Swiss Army knife. The edge seems to last a reasonable length of time, I don't find that I have to use the sharpener all that often. But when you want to slice tomatoes, you need a good edge on your knife, and this sharpener fills the bill for me.

Now, I'm no chef, I'm a rank amateur when it comes to sharpening knives, so if you're very picky, or a pro, or just very well educated in sharpening knives, then this may or may not be for you.

I've read comments about similar models to this one, and I'm surprised at some people's complaints. First of all, take a minute to read the directions, and you'll be glad you did. Secondly, there are two wheels which you're suppposed to hold the knife against while you draw it through the sharpener. Ideally, they both turn as you draw the knife through, but DON'T WORRY if they don't both turn all the time! They're there as a guide to how to orient the knife, that's all. If you're close, it still works just fine.

This is a quick and easy way to sharpen most knives but does not work too well with my vegetable knives those I still sharpen with a whetstone. Incidentally sharping with a whetstone gives me a better edge but this is good enough for everyday use.

I've had this item for about 4 years and just bought one for my brother after visiting him and trying to use his very dull knives.

Overall it works very well. If you are good with a stone, you can get a better edge, but for 95% of your cutting the edge on this knife sharpener works very well. I also like it better than some of the electric sharpeners. The electric devices can really chew up your knife if you aren't careful.

The trick to getting a good edge with this device is to follow the instructions. I know this sounds obvious but I had this thing for several years and didn't quite use it correctly. I found a couple of videos on YouTube that showed the correct way to use this sharpener.

Here is one that looks reasonable ->

Pure Komachi 2 Series Fish Knife

Pure Komachi 2 Series Fish KnifeYears ago I bought a package deal from On The Table containing a first generation Pure Komachi Fish knife and Kitchen Shears (matching colors) for $20. We're still using both, but the Fish knife has had some of the coating near the edge chip away; however, it's also the most used knife in our kitchen. Though I've sharpened this knife many times over the years, it holds its edge much better than most of my knives, some of which are fairly expensive. They're also easy to sharpen. Pure Komachi knives seem to be fairly high carbon and I honestly prefer them to my Gerber, Mac (non-pro), etc. knives. In my opinion, Pure Komachi knives are better than anything else you will find at most (non-specialized) department stores.

I keep all of my kitchen cutlery, regardless of quality, very sharp. I use Spyderco Fine and Ultra Fine bench stones. I sharpen my knives before they get dull, such that they are usually sharp enough to shave hair. My Pure Komachi continues to hold a great edge.

I also own a number of Pure Komachi 2 knives (made in China), which is what I'm reviewing here. As far as their blade characteristics go, the second generation knives are essentially the same as the first generation Pure Komachi knives (made in Japan). First generation Pure Komachi knives had slightly more appealing colors and nice translucent handles (and the knife tang contained cutouts depicting fish, bread, etc. depending on the knife's purpose).

Wash these knives by hand--I recommend against putting any knives in the dishwasher. In this case it's bad for the coating, but it seems likely that putting knives in the dishwasher can damage their temper. As absurd as that may sound to you, I inherited a few knives from my grandparents that are duplicates of knives I've owned that have that simply won't hold an edge (while mine will). The only difference is that my grandparents washed their knives in the dishwasher.

Higher end knives are better than Pure Komachi, but one high end knife will cost you as much as a full set of Pure Komachi knives. I vastly prefer my 4 Shun knives--they get sharper and stay sharp much longer, but they're expensive knives and I tend to baby them (and hide them from guests).

A good knife for about ten bucks. The lifetime free sharpening from Kershaw/Shun is nice too. Because the blade edge is SIXTEEN DEGREES not 15 degrees, I suggest you send the knife back to Kershaw/Shun for free re-sharpening. Failure to re-sharpen with the proper angle makes the knife not work for cutting.

Arthur Court Grape 5-Piece 20-Inch by 13-Inch Entertainment Tray

Arthur Court Grape 5-Piece 20-Inch by 13-Inch Entertainment TrayA little pricey? Yes. But I've got lots of Arthur Court pieces and first, they are easy to care for. Hand wash and dry. No polishing required. Second, they are metal so they can stand up to a little abuse...you don't have to worry about it cracking or chipping if you accidentally set it down too hard. This Grape Entertainment Tray is definitely one of my favorite pieces, and I guarantee it will be used more than any other tray I have. It comes apart so it's easy to clean. You can have two kinds of dip, or if you prefer cubed cheese, ham or turkey thanks to the two bowls that hook onto the sides...and they stay in place ! And there is also the plateau in the center for a block of cheese. There is plenty of room left over for crackers, sliced pita bread, or party bread. This platter is TO DIE FOR! Matter of fact, I'd like to have a second. Buy it..you will NOT be disappointed. It is a beautiful work of art that you can use every day.

J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 13-Piece Knife Set

J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 13-Piece Knife SetMy wife and I have been using this 13-piece set of Forged Synergy knives for about 8 months, and we couldn't be happier with them. They are well made, well-balanced, have beautiful handles, a nice finish, and hold a very sharp edge--we've sliced tomatoes with all of them. If you're buying your first set of fine knives, these WILL hold up to the Henckels reputation for quality.

Now regarding what some others have said, I'll just add my two cents. There is a "Forged Synergy" and a "Fine Edge Synergy" series, and the main kitchen knives in those sets are NOT the same (though the steak knives appear to be so). The forged series has a metal tine that runs all the way through the handle with the black grips riveted on. The J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Synergy 13-Piece Block Set is totally different--see the Amazon photos and descriptions for yourself. Yes, this Forged Synergy set is also made in China (not Spain or Germany like some of the more expensive Henckels sets), but the quality is still excellent and should far surpass most users' expectations.

Regarding rust spots, we've had none. However, there are two main types of stainless steel: one is harder and slightly less stain resistant; the other is more stain resistant but slightly softer. That means that you give up a little stain resistance to have a knife that holds a sharper edge longer. I think that's much more important than having to clean an occasional rust spot off if it were to occur.

There are only two minor faults I find with this set (that didn't stop me from buying it, however). The kitchen shears are excellent quality and cut great, but the two parts should be easily separable for cleaning purposes. You'll see this in newer shear designs, and it's not a feature that would add to the cost. Also, the black finished knife block will eventually show wear and tear from missing when inserting knives into the slots. I'd have prefered a standard maple block. Lastly, for a few dollars more, I'd recommend the 16-piece version of this set which includes three more knives for about the price of one more (J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 16-Piece Knife Set).

I've worked in professional kitchens in my youth, so I know good knives and what to expect from them. My wife and I received these as a wedding present after registering for them, and though we've only had them 6 months so far they have been awesome. The knives do fit in the block just fine, contrary to what I read in another review. They have not rusted, also contrary to what I've read. The have a great balance on the blade, they handle extremely well, and they hold their edge for a long time before needing sharpening. The only complaint I would have about the set is that it didn't include every knife I could ever need, but the block does have extra slots in it and that's why I'm looking at Amazon.com today to add some more knives to the set. I would suggest picking up a bread knife at the same time you get the set, it only has a short serrated utility knife in it. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this set.

I received this set for a gift. The 8" Chef's, and the 7" Stamped Hollow Edge Santoku do not fit into the block. Did I get a bad block?? Any ideas???

I bought the 13 block set about a month ago and now over half of the knives are rusting. Mind you, I only hand wash and dry. Regardless, this is very embarassing for dinner parties. These are just NOT quality knives. I wasted $120 on them please do not do the same.

Wenger Swibo Boning Knife, Rigid Blade

Wenger Swibo 5-1/2-Inch Boning Knife, Rigid BladeThese are really great knives. They are plastic handled, and they aren't "pretty", but if you can get them on sale, as I did, for around 8 bucks a knife, you can use them without worrying you are going to nick them. I will not use my Shun near bones, because I don't want to damage the bladebut these? They were so cheap I don't care. So far, they have proven very robust. I've cut near a lot of bones with them (cutting apart a crown roast of pork, for example) and no damage! I really love these. I was afraid to buy them because they had not been reviewedbut I took the chance because they were cheap.

Shangarila Flatware, Pack of 1 Dozen Pieces

Shangarila Flatware, Pack of 1 Dozen Pieces - Dinner KnivesBy far worth the money. Extra heavy gauge steel, nearly unbendable handles. Suitable for serving ice cream, etc. Great smooth finish, smooth edges, near perfect product.

I read the reviews on these forks and ordered them anyway. These are really nice pieces. There are 12 in the package. They are heavy. The edges are smooth both on handle and prongs. I have ordered the dinner spoons which are hard to find on site but they exist, and I am also going to order the soup spoons. I was very pleasantly suprised by the quality of the flatware. Don't let the price fool you. They will be perfect for any table. I expecially liked ordering pieces I needed rather than sets with pieces I did not need.

I just wanted some everyday forks as they seem to disappear like socks in the dryer. So, I ordered 12 of these forks. For the price, I expected thin, lightweight stuff that I would not regret losing when they inevitably disappeared. But these forks were thick, very heavy and looked really expensive. So, I decided to complete the set and now all my everyday flatware matches! I don't know why it says 5 dozen in a pack because I ordered one pack and got one dozen.

good weight to it, not flimsy at all, held up well so far in the dishwasher. spoon size is great and not too small or too big.

quality spoons. i'm a guy i don't get caught up on designs patterns etc so i'm happy with these

I ordered the spoon set and they are fantastic. Some reviews mentioned the spoons are too big, but I find them the perfect size for cooking / having soup. The metal is thick and high quality, not the flimsy ones you would expect for the price. They are unaffected after multiple rounds in the dishwasher and shiny as ever. Highly recommended

Chef's Choice 415 Exact-V Diamond Hone Manual Knife Sharpener

Chef's Choice 415 Exact-V Diamond Hone Manual Knife SharpenerThis sharpener is overly complicated for the results. It's bigger and harder to use than one of those little $6 carbide/ceramic two stage V-sharpeners, and the results are no better. This sharpener does work pretty much as advertized, but you can get as good or better results with a little pocket V-sharpener, for about $35 less.

One advatage of this sharpener over a simple V sharpener is that it does put a double bevel. This is a technique of sharpening where the main blade bevel is, in this case 20 degrees, and the honed edge is at a slightly wider angle, 24 degrees in this case. Ideally this gives a more durable edge and allows you to re-sharpen with just a quick hone. Even with this fact, and the compulsion I'll have to use it just because I spent $40 on it, I don't see myself using this over my pocket V-sharpener.

I have since purchased a couple of other knife sharpeners. This one was "OK", but kept falling apart on me. I ended up purchasing a "Chefs Choice" Electric Knife Sharpener and gave this away to my oldest son. It works if you can get it to stay together.

Victorinox Cutlery 5-Inch Wavy Edge Mini Chef's Knife, Black Fibrox Handle

Victorinox Cutlery 5-Inch Wavy Edge Mini Chef's Knife, Black Fibrox HandleI use this knife nearly everyday and can't say enough good about it. I have a few Shun's, Globals, etc but for everyday this knife gets reached for the most.

First, it's super sharp and keeps that edge for a long time, it's short enough for quick easy handling and really allows you a lot of control. The wavy edge makes getting through the tougher things easy. Want to cut up corn on the cob into shorter sections? It's effortless and cuts through the ear husk and all. A dense heavy cabbage, child's play. The various melons tremble at the sight of this knife. French bread or a baguette, easy slices even if you just walked around the corner from the bakery with a hot loaf. Tomatoes are zipped through.

Like most wavy edge knives it tends to want to slide off line ( half inch slice of bread at the top and only a quarter inch at the bottom) but it's not as bad as most in this regard and it's size makes controlling that easy. The handle is comfortable and non slip. I've dressed it once on a Chef's Choice 120 Diamond Hone 3-Stage Professional Knife Sharpener, Black on just the polishing/stropping stage and it was a good as new. Highly recommend!

Very sharp, a great alternative to a larger chef's knife for a lot of chores. Great for cutting raw vegetables and raw proteins like chicken, beef, pork, fish. Not so great for cutting cooked vegetables or cooked meats, the serrations leave marks on the product.

I bought the Victorinox 4-Piece Knife Set with Fibrox Handles to replace an existing knife set we were using, forged Heinkels. My wife's favorite knife in that set was a serrated utility knife so she she insisted I supplement the 4-Piece set with the addition of the 5-inch Wavy Edge Mini Chef's Knife. I am glad we did because I too have found the this 5-Inch Wavy Edge Mini Chef's Knife to be the most useful knife in the kitchen, it gets more work than the rest of the knives combined, true utility!

This knife is a really good size, and who said size does not matter. This is one sharp knife as well. Like is so far and plan to keep this one. One of three that arrived that day. I would recommend this knife to anyone. I will update this after we have some time to use it.
