Wusthof Classic 4-1/2-Inch Steak Knife
The handle of this model seems just right to me. It's not slender or delicate, feels sturdy, but it's not clunky or awkward. The blade is sturdy, strong and true, and should last a lifetime. As a nice bonus, they look great, elegant and clean.
I must admit, I've never owned a dishwasher, so I've never been tempted to put fine knives in one. If hand-washing your knives is too time consuming for you, then you may not find these your best choice. On the other hand, if you enjoy working with quality tools, and don't mind the extra care that they require, these knives are a pleasure to use and own.As a chef, I put my full faith into Wusthof knives and I love the Wusthof Classic. Although I have at least one or more of Global, Shun, Henckels and Mac knives, my wusthof knives get the most use. To each their own with which knife feels the best in their hand when in use, but I'll swear up and down about the Wusthof Classic handles. These steak knives are lightweight enough to use easily, yet have enough weight that you're unlikely to get careless.
Although these steak knives shouldn't replace a paring knife, they double up as one for the larger fruits/veggies and make slicing an ease.
If you're looking for knives at a low end of expense and don't mind buying new ones in a few years, look elsewhere. If you're looking for great steak knives that will last you a lifetime with numerous uses, look no further! They're worth every dime.

We've had these for about 4 or 5 years but still haven't used them! Why 5 stars? We've had them in the open about 3' above the ocean the entire time & there's not a speck of corrosion! We bought two, and these are the best knives for spreading sandwiches, bread, bagels, or muffins. The serrated edge is great for slicing after you've spread it with whatever. Unlike a wooden handle, this is long-wearing and easier to clean. This is a classic institutional grade sandwich spreader with an ambidextrous grip and quite a nice serrated blade for cutting. It is dishwasher safe and should last just about forever in the home environment. I used this exact knife in the kitchen of a restaurant I worked at for years. I was hoping I would run across it somewhere and leave it to Amazon to carry it. A great knife at a great price. Love the knife! I will be buying another one in hopes that the one i got was somehow defective. Only had the knife one week, using it 4 times and it's chipped twice cutting fruits.I really don't understand the complaints about this knife. My wife got me one for Fathers Day last year. It was incredibly sharp and cut much more smoothly than my much more expensive steel knives. Although the knife did eventually get dull enough that I could run my finger on the edge, it still cut through meats and vegetables with ease. It lasted 1 1/2 years before my son broken it trying to crush garlic (he learned the hard way that ceramic does not bend). Maybe these others did not understand the limitations of ceramic. We just bought two more, one for our house and one for my son to take to college.

I loved this nice when I first bought it from Bed Bath etc. It works great to chop veggies and even tomotatoes until one fatal day when it chipped. I was crushed as it worked better than most of my metal knives. I was just about to purchase a bigger one. Now..I don't think it will be worth the investment. I would rather pay top dollar for something that lasts than something that works great for a "minute". Wish it came with a warranty or made to not chip.Pampered Chef Carving Set Knife & Fork With Case
Every Thanksgiving I would have to ask my sister to bring over her carving set since I didn't own a good one. This year I decided things were going to change so I searched Amazon to see what they had available since I think they have the best deals. I decided to purchase the Pampered Chef Carving Set and am so happy I did. Not only is it durable and extremely sharp, the storage case even came with a built-in sharpener. I know the quality associated with the Pampered Chef brand but I think this even exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend this item. Thaks for the wonderful product and quick turnaround. I left my set at a rental house so I was pleased to be able to replace it!
Weston 61-0901-W 9 Inch Heavy Duty Food Slicer
When this slicer arrived it looked very good and when I put it to work it did the job just as I wanted. Cleanup is a snap and it doesn't take up the whole counter.
Looks like the person that designed this machine had actually used one and tried to make it the best he could. For the money it is a five star machine and I am impressed.

I bought this food slicer due to it's large blade size and it's claimed more powerful 150 watt motor. When I received it I let the unit warm to room temperature and tested it. The motor growled loudly and the blade spun slowly at about 40 RPM. I called the included manufacturers 800 number to report this. The CSR said they would send a replacement and a pickup slip for the defective unit, which they did. The only problem there was it was a residential pick up which still cost me $9.00 freight to exchange. When I received the replacement I tested it right away. It seemed to work properly until I put it to the test. I had prepared, the night before, a 5 pound sirloin roast beef to make Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches for my super bowl party the next day. Even though the meat was well chilled and tender the slicer could barely cut a clean slice. About a third of the way through slicing the roast the blade slowed considerably and then the drive mechanism broke. The price paid for the ordered pizzas for my guests exceeded the price paid for this slicer. Needless to say it was two strikes and Westin was out. I returned the unit to Amazon and received a full refund. I would advise not buying this slicer as it's quality is dubious.Read Best Reviews of Weston 61-0901-W 9 Inch Heavy Duty Food Slicer Here
Only have had for a week sliced some deer up for jerky worked great on slightly frozen meat(makes i easier to slice that way). easy to clean up. Watch the blade when cleaning is very sharp a fillet glove would be a good idea for the hand that handles it and holds the meat. Only thing is the motor could use a little more power it got slightly warm cutting up 8 lbs of meat 1/4" wide for my jerky. I would recommend it for anyone. Have about 40 lbs of deer left to do any problems with it i will post them.Want Weston 61-0901-W 9 Inch Heavy Duty Food Slicer Discount?
I've had two slicers before this one and both worked well, for what I paid for them. This one has a great motor and a belt drive, stainless steel food tray tilts for easy cleaning. I love the adjustable thickness control for slicing from deli-thin to over 1/2-inch..., Best Part, it does not move well slicing the meat as my other two did. On/Off safety switch is covered BIG PLUS and cleans up very well...The one VERY BAD THING is the press that goes between your hand and the food you are slicing. It does not have a track to hold (LOCK) it on the sliding carriage, so when you are pushing the carriage forward, you have to hold down the food press while you are pushing the food into the blade. If you forget to do this, you will find your hand in the VERY SHARP BLADE!!!
If you have used a food slicer before, this is a very good one, for the money. I have no problem using it, and like it very much, but I warn you, IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST SLICER..., BUY A BETTER ONE!
Look at the photos very closely and read the reviews! This is a great food slicer for the money it costs. I also highly recommend you get kevlar gloves for your hands if this is the first slicer you are buying, they come in very handy when you are cleaning the blade also!
I would have given it 5 stars but the food press does not lock on the carriage!

Global G-2338 - 3 Piece Starter Knife Set with Chef's, Utility and Paring Knife
They are most definately sharp. Very light weight. Thinner blade compared to some German knives. I also got the feeling they would last forever due to the handle being metal too. Other knives you may have to worry about the rivets or deteriorating wood handles.
Handles: I bought these online based on reviews and the pictures here on Amazon. In the pictures I thought the black dots may have been some kind of rubber for grip. I wasn't too keen of the thought of potentially having little pieces of rubber glued to the knife. I ordered this set anyway and was pleasantly surprised that the dots are just colored dimples like a golf ball.
Utility knife grip: Looking at the picture of the utility knife I was worried about the grip because the handle looks a little different. I immediately washed this knife upon receiving it and used it to chop up some veggies. I found it very comfortable to use. No concerns with the grip at all.
My set was out of the box sharp and I was chopping things up effortlessly. There really is a "wow" factor if you've only experienced cheap knives from your local *mart stores.I purchased these knives in September 2009. I carefully selected these knives after reading several reviews and because the steel used has a high Cr content making it one of the better performing materials for a kitchen knife. We had a quality problem with one knife, that was resolved quickly by the US distributor (see below for more information), but I would not let this deter anyone from purchasing what I think is good value for money for anyone who spends a lot of time in their kitchen.
The quality problem: After a few weeks I noticed the paring knife showed black spots on the blade surface (corrosion of the stainless steel). I was taking good care of the knives (not putting them through the dishwasher etc.) but still this knife corroded faster than any stainless steel I had ever seen, and none of the other knives had this problem so I concluded this was a quality issue on the paring knife. I contacted Chefs Resource (the vendor) and they just pointed me to the US distributor's website (to be honest I was very disappointed with their response so I wouldn't recommend Chef's Resources over any other vendor). I then returned the knife to the US distributor with a warrantee claim form (). I am please to say that within a few weeks a replacement knife was mailed back to me. I believe this was a rare quality problem that I have not seen in any of the other knives and I was pleased the US distributor stood behind the product and did the right thing. I was happy that after investing so much in a high quality knife that when a problem did occur the US distributor honored their commitment to the customer Great job by Sointu USA.

I bought these knifes 4 years ago and till that day I am very satisfied with them. They are light, well balanced and easy to clean since they are made from one piece of metal. I wash them by hand, sharpen with Yoshikin 220/GB MinoSharp Water Sharpener and store on MIU France 15-Inch Stainless Steel Magnetic Knife Holder. No issues and they look like new. Since i bought this set, we do not use any other/extra knifes in our house. I find chef's knife to be a little too big for me so I mostly use it only when I need bigger knife. My husband on the other hand prefers chef's over utility knife, so I guess that's a matter of preference or maybe hand size? I might also add that my husband is left handed and finds them very easy to handle too.Highly recommended!I bought this set a while back and was amazed at how sharp they were when I got them. The chef's knife is great and as useful as you'd expect. I don't find that I have much use personally for the pairing knife, but when I do use it, it's great. The utility knife it turns out is really a nice size for those jobs where a full chef's knife is a little too big. I find myself using that knife much more often than I thought I would because of it's convenient size.
While I really like the knives, I'm finding that maintaining them is going to be more expensive that I anticipated. After a few months of use and carving a few turkeys, I'm finding that the chef's knife doesn't seem to cut the way it once did. It's reasonable that this should happen after some use. Usually when this happens, I run the knife over a steel to condition the edge. I find that after some minor sharpening and honing, even a relatively cheap knife can be made very sharp again with minimal effort. Because of the edge and the steel used in the Globals though, they only recommend using a Global diamond steel. This steel costs more than the knives do. I've tried a normal steel which works fine on my other knives (though Global doesn't recommend it) and didn't get very good results. No damage to the knife, but no improvement in the edge either.
So, I'm going to end up spending a significant amount of money to keep these knives in best form. Much more than I would have with more conventional knives. I don't consider it a huge drawback since the knives are very good, but it's something to consider when making your purchase. It changes my opinion of the knives a bit though. While they are very very sharp and nice to use, they are expensive to maintain. The German knives are nearly as nice to use, less expensive to buy and less expensive to maintain. To my mind, that puts these knives into the category of useful show items. They're a little bit better than the Germans, but the large cost difference isn't really justified by the performance difference. Buy them if you want really good knives and want to show off a bit. If you want something that works really well but isn't as flashy, go with the Germans or even Victorinix which I also have and work nearly as well.

I have Wusthof knives. They are great but the forged line is too heavy for my wrists. I searched and read about knife brands over a period of time, looking for other reputable knives. This utility knife is wonderful. The handle is thick, round and really gives you something to grip onto. It also has a very slightly squishy, rough, non-slip texture which I like the feel of. The blade is paper-cutting sharp out of the package and has been keeping the same sharp edge with honing. Other things about the knife are that the blade is tapered and the weight is mostly in the handle but the blade is light. Less weight in the handle would be good, but I enjoy it so am willing to look beyond that.Read Best Reviews of Mercer Cutlery Genesis 5" Forged Utility Knife, Steel/Black Here

This product is exactly as described. It is easy to clean and is, of course, expandable. When the two expandable sides are closed someone who didn't know better probably wouldn't even notice they were there, but of course most people AREN'T going to buy this to keep it closed. I have a very wide but shallow cutlery drawer so I have both sides expanded and still have a couple inches on either side (not normal, I assure you). Some people may only be able to expand both sides an inch or so, but rather than have two small compartments on either side it is better to expand only one side as far as you can so that kitchen utinsels fit more easily.I expect this product to last a long time and will probably buy more, one for one of my desk drawers and all those pens, pencils, highlighters, etc. and I may buy a couple to stack under the sink in my bathroom since there's NOT a lot of room in my bathroom for anything, but of course I have A LOT of makeup, makeup brushes, lotions, sprays, nail polishes, cotton balls, Q-Tips, etc. that could all use some organization.

This cutlery divider is not bad for the price but I was not impressed with the expansion sides. You simply slide them out to the left or right. The expansion sides have notches at the top and bottom that are supposed to serve as "stops" to set the amount of expansion you want. Unfortunately, these notches are so shallow that they don't hold the position worth a darn. Once you set the size you want, I recommend some white duct tape to hold them in place. What a great product! Cleans easily; fits in the drawer. Can also use in the bathroom to organize things, that skinny drawer in your dresser, and tools and such in the kitchen junk drawer. Silverware trays are so handy. A knife Must be:
Quick & Easy to Sharpen. Many expensive knives are miserable to try to sharpen.
Have just a bit of flex to the blade, this helps when crushing garlic, cutting around bones etc.
Dishwasher Safe. I like the white plastic handle very ergonomic and easy to see that it's clean.

I own several knives from this line including another 10" cook's knife that I bought years ago from a kitchen supply store. I love those. Even as I've added much more expensive knives to my collection, my old 10" knife with the white plastic handle is the first one I always reach for.I recently ordered this one as a gift. When it showed up, the thickness of the spine was significantly thinner than the one I bought years ago. I assume the company has changed their design over the years. I wound up keeping it for myself and getting a different knife for the gift.
Now both 10" knives are in the knife block. Even though the handles are identical, I can immediately tell whether I have the old or new one just by how it feels in my hand. I would still reccommend the knife, but be prepared. If you're an old fan of Dexter-Russell, this is a cheaper version of what you bought 10 years ago.sharp, solid knife with comfortable grip. given as a gift because I have one of my own that I use regularly. The knife feels good in my hands. Sturdy, strong, and fairly balanced. I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality of this knife at this price. Will definitely purchase this brand again.

I purchased the Mercer M21046 Genesis Fork from the WEBstaurant Store, one of Amazon's partners. The Mercer fork is made of forged German steel and the price was slightly cheaper. I know most people purchase the item as a display piece. But I use mine. I live in Texas and it is really handy when cleaning game and the chopping board is concave enough that you can really chop fresh herbs.
