This thing cuts bread like nothing else. The knife arrived with an absolutely razor sharp edge. Yikes! All you have to do is hold it gently and saw back and forth and gravity essentially does all the downward pulling for you. A very sturdy knife with comfortable handle and good balance. Highly recommended.Read Best Reviews of Chicago Cutlery Metropolitan 9-Inch Bread Knife Here
I bought one of these bread knives in May, 2008, from Amazon, for twelve ninety nine. For that price, it is a great bread knife. I bake my own bread, and the knife gets a lot of use. It was extremely sharp when I first got it and it remains extremely sharp to this day. (I sliced a finger pretty bad with it shortly after I first got it because I wasn't as careful as I should've been when slicing a loaf of bread, and that was partly because I didn't realize just how sharp almost razor sharp the knife was. Since then I always take extra care when handling and using it.) I must wonder why, today (June 20, 2010), it is selling for twenty three bucks on Amazon. Today, following a link from the Chicago Cutlery website that leads to the World Kitchen website, I see that this exact knife is listed with a selling price of fourteen ninety nine.I love it and expect it should last a lifetime (I consider the polymer handle a plus in terms of both longevity and hygiene), I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality super sharp bread knife for non-commercial use, but Amazon's current price is way too high. Caveat emptor.

This knife works beautifully on my loaves. I am so happy and even happier that I didn't have to pay a lot to get one that works well. This knife is so sharp that it has drawn blood.Kuhn Rikon Farmers Market Knife Colori 4-Inch Blade
Jamie Lynn Silver Stacked Hearts Knife and Server Set
2. The ones they shipped me were not secure in the packaging and when arrived were not in their separate placeholders so rubbing against each other.
3. The knife was slightly bent near the handle (and appeared to be rebent to look straight. I was able to fix it though and straighten it out correctly.
4. they looked used. The packaging was very beat up and as stated they weren't in there correctly in the first place.
5. But I couldn't find any scratches on the product so will probably keep because very nice looking set. Plan to add some ribbon to the base to really make them unique.

My husband ordered this set for me the other day. It arrived today, and I will be returning it tomorrow. Most of the knives and a few forks have bluish/grey stains on one side of the handles the sides that touched each other in the original product box. In addition, two of the knives have small rust spots on one or both sides of the handle. It seems the material beneath the surface is of poor quality, and the flatware is of very light weight. The top coat is clearly of very poor quality as well. I wonder which metals the product is made of. Overall, this set is a great disappointment.Want Cambridge Silversmiths Codie 65-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 12 Discount?
Fair price for the set, but not very heavy weight. Looks nice on the table though. This was purchased for my kids, and they liked the style, but again the weight was a little light. I am comparing to Reed and Barton, which I have a preference for, and was hoping this set would be comparabale. Cambridge does make some nice sets, as I have seen them in the past with nice weight....Kitchenaid KA2TRCK8E 8" Chefs Knife
Bad: Its not super sharp and can be used in kitchen for daily use. If you really need to cut something Precisely then this knife wont do the job.
Overall, better than grocery stores regular knifes and can be rated just a bit above average. We cut a lot of fruits and vegetables and this knife is always one of our favorites for getting the job done without too much hassle. We have a whole Kitchenaid knife set but this one got left on a hot surface and we melted the handle...oops. We found the best replacement cost here on Amazon. Thanks!

The serrated blade does a good job in cutting a slice. While you may not need that sharp blade for a pumpkin pie, I found it's really a help for apple pie and vegetable quiche both of which can have firmer textured pieces that need to be bisected when cutting a slice. Because the blade part is offset, I found I can lower the entire blade into the pie plate to effectively cut the slice cleanly when needed. The blade itself is 5 1/4" long and works even with the large pie plates I use. The drop from the lowest part of the handle to bottom of the blade when in the cutting position is 2" and the wide part of the blade itself is 2 1/2". That does a good job of accommodating my thick apple pie. The blade offset when you hold the server flat to lift the cut slice from the pie plate is 1" from handle to blade so it gets into my pie plates effectively. The blade is somewhat flexible so I can get it down under the slice with minimum disruption to the bottom crust.
The handle is comfortable to hold and because the blade is sharp, it's nice to have the blade guard for storage. Although I haven't used this server on cake, I don't know why it wouldn't be good for that too. With the sharp blade you wouldn't have to saw and disrupt the frosting, just cut straight down to the cake plate.
I'm left-handed so I'm using the server backwards from how most people would, but it still works fine. I like having both the cutting and serving activities married into one tool (less to wash and take to gatherings). I'm pleased with this server and would rebuy.

Unlike many knives that I have purchased, this one was a little dull when I received it. A little steel action, and it was sharp and ready to go.I have used it on many vegetables and the weight and balance of the knife make it easy to hold. It cuts beautifully. I have even made cuts as thin as 1/8th of an inch with no problem.
Easily cuts thin slices of tomatoes.
It seems like this knife will be at my right hand whenever there is a vegetable that needs slicing, or dicing.

I have quite a few knives and wanted them in a drawer. Most of the other holders were not this wide.We had to cut off the length to fit my kitchen drawer exactly but that was not a problem at all.
Like the idea that you could cut it to fit any drawer.

Knives depth(width) much too large to lay flat in slots! and due to some weight at handle end the knife blade sticks up.Board was partially damaged. Divider Board hole was not a straight line so noticeably crooked! Steak knives dont align evenly.
Poor engineering job in my opinion. This is a unit that must be custom cut so you will need a friend with a table saw to do it properly. My knives were just loose in the drawer but now they are organized and protected, which is the whole purpose. Be sure and measure the death and length of the drawer and trim to width. Looks good. A quality piece.

Stone River 4-Piece Chef/Santoku/Utility/Parer with White Ceramic Blade and Holder
Victorinox 4-Inch Spatula/Spreader, Black Polypropylene Handle
SANTOKU KNIFE, CERAMIC WHITE,
I have several Boker ceramic knives and they are wonderful; however, I have always found them a bit on the small side...even the chef knife. So they are great for fine knife work like mincing shallots, but a bit awkward when it comes to dealing with larger food items.
When I saw this and saw that the blade was over 7 inches I immediately ordered it. I was thrilled to receive quite a substantial knife with good weight and perfect for more general purpose gcooking chores like carving meats and prepping vegetables.
Ok, it is a bit pricey, but still less expensive than ceramic knives of the same size or a very good steel knife. SO it may not be cheap, but it is a good value.
Novice cooks be warned. Ceramic knives are extremely sharp and you can easily cut yourself without even feeling the blade touch your skin. So use caution until you are used to it. Also, even though ceramic is harder than steel, it is not as flexible, so don't use ceramic knives for bashing garlic cloves, opening cans, prying open jars, etc. because they will snap.

I love this knife! It really has a quality feel to it and fits perfectly in my hand. It's very substantial and feels like it should cost at least double. It even feels better than another Henckels knife I own that cost over 3 times what I paid for this one. It holds an edge very well and I've owned it for over a year and I have not had the need to have it professionally sharpened yet. With regular honing the blade stays extremely sharp. I like the Synergy line so much I bought the serrated knife and the paring knife and these are the only knifes I have in my knife drawer! I even bought one for my parents. Pros:-Ridiculously cheap
-Lightweight
-Thin, flexible blade
-Sharp, sharp sharp!
Cons:
-No heft at all
-Small handle is not particularly ergonomic
I compare this Victorinox to an old Henckels with molded handle that it is essentially replacing. The Henckels handle may be disproportionally long, but it fits my large hand perfectly, and I find the sense of heft gives me better control, as well. In spite of the weight, I feel like I can use the Henckels all day long; the Victorinox with its combination of extreme lightness and sharpness is in some ways harder for me to control and thus over time can be more fatiguing, a bit like carrying a gun with a hair trigger. If you like using tools that have a substantial feel, the Victorinox, which feels semi-disposable, might not be for you. The price and sharpness, however, are compelling, and this, along with other knives in this line, is one of the great bargains in the culinary world. Its very sharp, seems to hold an edge well and sharpens well. An excellent price cost more to ship than purchase.
