Tuscan Grapevine Breeze Tempered Glass Cutting Board 8" X 10"

Tuscan Grapevine Breeze Tempered Glass Cutting Board 8' X 10'Pay close attention to the dimensions on this one, it is much smaller than I was thinking it would. Still very pretty and nice, just very small. Would work well with limited counter space kitchen.

KWIK KUT Cutlery Food Chopper Stainless Steel Made in USA Plain and Serrated COMBO PACK

KWIK KUT Cutlery Food Chopper Stainless Steel Made in USA Plain and Serrated COMBO PACKLost our trusty plain cutter. Seems impossible but true. The two showed up on time and are the identical item to our lost version. Use on a regular basis to chop celery for tuna as well as other mincing tasks. Buy them.

OMG! I was given one of these 39 years ago and, at first sight, wasn't impressed because I was "seduced" with all the fancy electric kitchen gadgets.

After just one use, I was in love with this little gadget and used it religiously while my children were growing up. After DECADES of repeated use, the handle finally came off and, not knowing how to repair it, I threw it away. That was one of the saddest days of my life because, until now, I couldn't find another one.

This thing out performs every "modern" kitchen appliance I have and is so versatile, easy to use/clean and takes up MINIMAL space.

I like my ground beef finely crumbled in pasta sauce etc and this little gadget is EXCELLENT for doing just that. Without it I've had to go through the time, trouble and mess of "pulsing" it in my food processor.

I use a stainless steel bowl that's about twice the width of the chopper and it works beautifully!

Nuts, boiled eggs, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, meats etc are no match for this little devil. The actual chopping time is longer but I can get the job done in less time and work than what using the "modern" electric gizmos.

I'm a southern cook and the plain blade is perfect for cutting biscuits etc.

Today, finding my little chopper again, is one of the happiest days of my life.

I bought these choppers because my mother had one when I was a kid and it was one of my jobs to chop whatever we were having for lunch or dinner. The one she had was sturdy with a nice rounded handle that had some heft to it. These, however, are very flimsy, bend easily, and are not comfortable in the hand. They do, however, work very well. They are extremely sharp and do the job easily. If they had a more comfortable grip and were a heavier gauge metal that did not bend out of shape so easily, they would get five stars.

I can well remember as a child my father using one of these while making egg salad because he liked the eggs finely chopped and this worked like a charm. When dad died, one of the few things my youngest sister wanted was his "egg chopper" but we couldn't find it. Finally, I thought to go online and look for one and, of all the gifts I gave my sister that Christmas, this was her favorite one. In fact, when she opened it, her first words were "Hello, Dad." Such a small gift, yet such a large and welcomed memory!

Cambridge Silversmiths Palais Mirror 65-Piece Flatware Set, 18/0 Stainless Steel

Cambridge Silversmiths Palais Mirror 65-Piece Flatware Set, 18/0 Stainless Steelthis flatware looks wonderful on my table. It is sturdy so isn't going to bend easily. I have had them for a couple weeks and like them very much.

I liked the clean and stylish look and the price, let's face it, you'll need at least 2 sets. However, they are slightly larger and bulkier than I expected but my biggest annoyance is that after you wash them, you'll need to be so careful in handling them. I took them out of a washer and later all handles had fingerprints and marks... They look dirty.

Zelco Mangia 3 Piece Set

Zelco Mangia 3 Piece SetI had the original Zelco Mangia from years ago, and while the new one is a touch lighter in weight (thinner gauge metal), there is no difference in quality or construction. In fact, I prefer the lighter weight for traveling :) It feels less industrial and a little more sophisticated and modern.

I have used this picnicing, traveling, at work and have a few in my car for impromptu picnics. There is always a set in my travel bag.

The only issue I have with the new Mangia is that the inside edge of the hollow knife handle is sometimes sharp and unfinished. Be careful!

What it is and how it's put together:

If you haven't already, click on the detailed product photo above:

* The knife blade is just under 3", actual serrated cutting area is just under 2.5". The 1/2" remaining is the end that is next to the handle and is flat and blunt to prevent accidentally cutting yourself while opening and closing the utensil.

* The handle is a hollow square tube with the knife welded solidly inside at an angle. This divides the square tube into 2 equally sized triangles.

* The fork and the spoon are wrought from a solid sheet of stainless. The handles are bent inwards and form a shallow "V"

* The V-shaped handles of the fork and spoon slide into each of the triangles formed by the welded knife.

* The knife is only welded halfway inside the handle. The bottom half contains one large pinch-spring that holds the spoon and fork in place when inserted.

* Because 1 large spring holds both the fork and the spoon in place, the first utensil out and the last utensil in are the hardest and this most likely when accidents happen.

How to safely remove and insert the fork and spoon from the knife:

Removing:

1) Spoon side facing you.

2) Hold the Mangia in your hand thumbs on the spoon, where the bowl becomes the spoon-handle. Push your thumbs firmly and gently forward (making sure your right thumb is on the spoon and away from the serrated edge of the knife) until the tip of the spoon slides over the tip of the knife.

3) Continue sliding or flip the Mangia over (fork side up) and grasp the widest part of the spoon and pull it out and away (in the direction AWAY from the serrated edge of the knife).

4) Flip Mangia over again (fork side down), and repeat step 3) with the fork. Again, out and AWAY from the serrated edge.

Putting the Mangia back together:

1) Holding fork at widest point by the tines, insert into knife handle.

2) Push all the way down until the end of the fork touches the spring at the bottom.

3) Insert the handle of the spoon.

4) Using a firm surface like a table or countertop, push the spoon into the Mangia as far as it will go.

5) Hold the spoon at the widest part and gently and firmly push it in the rest of the way into the Mangia so that it touches the spring at the bottom.

How to get the cover on:

* The blunt end of the blade sticks out beyond the handle by a bit. This has to fit inside the cover.

* Make sure the fork and the spoon are fully inserted and touch the bottom end of the spring in the knife handle.

* The Mangia fits together the way it first came in the box: Serrated edge facing left, fork above and spoon below.

Additional notes:

* The hollow tube the knife has for a handle is actually much more comfortable than it looks. It adds weight and balance.

* The Mangia is heavier and sturdier than many cheap utensils out there. These are not flimsy utensils and are not easily bent.

* The serrated edge is very sharp and strong.

* The brushed finish on the inside lower 1" of the fork and spoon will get marked by the spring mechanism over time.

* Do not leave the knife soaking in the sink. The spring might rust because it is made of a different quality metal.

* The Mangia comes packed in a box that can be easily wrapped for gift giving. (See added photo)

I like these and bought four total different colored caps. Some seem to be from a different production design because the caps secure themselves differently. I love usig these for packed lunches as they stay together and travel well. Woudl be five stars except that sometimes certain spoons or forks can get stuck in the knife part, I think this is from different production runs or something Most of the time they all fit together well and come apart easily to use. But when they stick you have to use force the spoon and fork help sheild you form the knife edge, but if you grab the spoon and fork with your thumb right behond the spoons bowl and have to yank them apart it can slip and cut you, like it did to me. Maybe I should have just gotten all with the same color cap cover so they would all be consistant

I only bought this set in order to have covered silverware to keep in my desk at work. The case does not stay closed or fit properly. Even when I remove the silverware entirely, I cannot get it to close, let alone stay closed.

Other than that, the silverware itself is sturdy and fits together well. If you do not need a case to cover the part that goes in your mouth, I would recommend this set. If you plan on traveling with it or keeping in a drawer and want the case for sanity reasons, don't bother.

When both Form and Function come together like this, the result is magic. You could set a table with these, they're so clever. Or you could take them on safari. The design is both elegant and practical. You'll be happy you own one even if you seldom use it. As travel flatware goes, it's a brilliant work of art.

We took Mangia tool sets to China, where knives and forks are not always available. The knife, fork and spoon pack neatly into the plastic cover, and a set is not too heavy to carry around. The cover could be a tad larger it is a snug fit, and the cover on one of our sets cracked when snapped shut when the implements were not quite nested together perfectly. The cover was handy following a meal, when the cover could be snapped over the implements and the food residue was prevented from making a mess inside a pocket or purse.

Gerber 22-41847 DF8 Sharpener

Gerber 22-41847 DF8 SharpenerI've read the existing reviews and here is something that must be added so that those [like me] who have brought this item will not be disappointed. The Gerber finger sharpener is made to sharpen blades with a 30 degree angle this includes axes, pocket knives or any other blades of 30 degrees. "IF" the kitchen knives you have happen to be a 20 degree edge, it will not work, was not made to work and never will.

For kitchen knives with a 20 degree angle, you have the choice of the Ozitech knife sharpener finger style which you can find online or YouTube to see demo, unfortunately there is no demo for Gerber's system. A sad mistake on their part. if you go to YouTube and watch the demo at the end is there web address so you can buy the type you need, just make sure first that you know absolutely what angle degree you need first before ordering either.

hope this helps.

I tried this over and over and if anything it dulled my knife along with scratching it near the tip. I absolutely recommend ANYTHING besides this...very disappointed in Gerber...great knives absolute poor sharpener...

Buy Gerber 22-41847 DF8 Sharpener Now

I've bought several kitchen knife sharpeners over the past twenty years and foolishly used them in place of my diamond steel which took so long to sharpen my knives. After ruining the edge and taper on most of my knives I bought this one because of online recommendations for it. It restored most of my knives to a factory edge after only a few minutes sharpening. I'm confident that it will restore all of them with a little patience. My slicing knife will now cut tomatoes with one downward stroke without sawing them so that's a definite plus. The most impressive thing is that the knives stay sharper longer than before and it's simple to use. For the price it's well worth it.

Toastmaster 2247 Electric Can Opener with Soft Touch Handle

Toastmaster 2247 Electric Can Opener with Soft Touch HandleThis is a very nice and affordable can opener. It is small enough to tuck out of the way when it's not in use, which is great for a small kitchen. Since it is tall, you can even open the 'family size' cans.

**TIP**

Still keep a hand can opener around if the power is out.

This low-end can opener is practically useless. 90% of the time it fails to operate completely, opening a portion of the can and then stopping. I paid $14.00 for it... and it's worth about ... well, it's not worth anything actually. I would NOT recommend this horrible can opener. I'd prefer using a nail and a hammer over this thing!

Here are the problems I had. It cuts out after 1/4 inch of cutting. I constantly had to reset the can and try over and over. I had to hold the can on it. It wouldn't take the smaller cans. It lets go of cans. More than once tomato sauce ended up on the counter and floor. It falls over. I threw it back in the box and gave it to charity. It is not worth a penny. I would recommend that you not purchase it. Check out the Black and Decker rechargable canopener on amazon. I bought one and just love it. Amazon shouldn't sell this toastmaster piece of crap. Here's the link for the Black and Decker. Great price right now too. Definately a good deal.

I will never think "what's the difference" a can opener is just a can opener again. While the price is indeed low, it simply would be nice to have an item that works!

It's down right spooky there is a photo of the product depicting it holding a can of Tomato Paste. That was the first can I used it on and this can opener failed miserably to open the tiny 6oz. can. I have been cooking for forty years and have never seen anything this pityful. Who designed this?

This can opener is one for the trash heap right out of the box. For the price of it, I should have simply bought a pizza for dinner.

My husband recently purchased this opener at a local Target. I hate it!! I am a cooking enthusiast and this opener does nothing for me. It is not worth the money you will pay for it. I have attempted to use this device three times without any luck the only thing it manages to do is just pierce the can. The part that holds the can and rotates it just simple stops after you have placed the can on. The motor keeps running however the can simple will not spin. So I am now forced to purchase a new opener after only having this one for about two weeks. Do yourself a BIG favor spend a couple extra dollars and get a nicer one as I am doing.

Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 6-Inch Chef's Knife

Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 6-Inch Chef's KnifeThis knife feels great in the hand and arrives very sharp.

I am not sure what is the point of the layers of Damascene. The last half inch before the edge is presumably is where the action takes place and it is good, old-fashioned clear stainless. The Damascene pattern is certainly attractive.

Despite report you may have heard to the contrary, the edge of the blade is not straight like a Santoku knife. It curves, more-or-less the same amount as a Henckels chef knife. Having said that, I guess if you are a die-hard chopper you might prefer a big belly Wusthof.

The bolster is very unobtrusive, which I like. The handle is comfortable and tilts up a little, sort of like the Global knives but less extreme.

Did I already say this knife arrives very sharp. Right out of the box you can cut through the stem of a banana almost as if it was celery. Don't let your 8-year old use this knife for cutting frozen bagels ;)

All-in-all it is a really nice knife that I would use all the time if my wife had not taken such a posessive interest in it.

I found this knife in a local store and used a coupon to reduce the price to give the knife a try. It is the sharpest knife I have ever bought or used, and I have used a good number over the years including various German and other excellent brands. The balance and appearance are outstanding. The layered steel is attractive and interesting, but I don't know how much it contributes to the actual cutting, but it looks great. The tapered bolster reminds the user to grip the knife properly (if you are of the "pinch" grip persuasion). It is very easy to use with all kinds of food and cutting chores. It has held its edge with pretty frequent use for well over a year. I like to keep my knives sharp, and so far, this has not needed sharpening. I have bought other Katana knives piecemeal since purchasing this one and have really had good luck and experiences with all except the 5.5" serrated knife: it seemed to shred rather than slice/saw, so I returned it. I have five other Katana knives and plan to build my set piece by piece. I have had absolutely no rusting or cleaning problems, although I do try to clean all my knives as soon as possible after use. Highly recommended for sharpness, balance, use, design, and appearance.

Purchased one for $33 and love it. I've had the Calphalon essential set for about 3 years and have been happy with the balance and handling. I mainly use the 6" utility and the 3 1/2" pairing knife. However,I found the thickness of the blade on 7" chef knife to make it slightly dull for me on many task. The katana knife is in a entire different league from Calphalon's orginal set. It cuts with very little effort and has great balance.

Admittedly, I am a bit of a knife-buying nut. I love kitchen knives and own chef's knives and santuko knives from Wusthof, Henckels, Kyocera and Furi.

This Calphalon Katana 6-inch chef's knife is incredibly sharp and it feels really good in the hand balance-wise. I like the way the handle is shaped, it is very comfortable and the bolster is ingenious. I love the way it looks too! For the price, I'd say you can't go wrong.

I really like it a lot! I have only had it for a few weeks though, but

it seems to be of very good quality and hopefully we'll see how well it resharpens when the need arises.

Want Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 6-Inch Chef's Knife Discount?

I have owned countless knifes that claimed to be "good". Needless to say, almost every knife I have owned has been a disgrace until now. The Calphalon 6" Chef (knife) is a superb all purpose knife with several notable features.

First off, the Japanese steel construction is not only very attractive, but also extremely durable. The knife is relatively light and is embedded with a very comfortable, yet ergonomic handle. Note, the knife feels well balanced and non-strenuous in your hands, even under various vigorous chopping, cutting tasks.

I used the knife to cut several vegetables, raw meat, along with raw fish; so far the knife cuts through meat as if it was butter. I had exceptional control while gouging through my various products. You must be sure to wash and dry the knife immediately after use (only hand washing is permitted). Furthermore, this knife is relatively inexpensive; considering the other brands such as shun, this knife is a bargain. Lastly, this product is backed by Calphalon's lifetime warranty.

All in all an excellent product, and I would highly recommend it. The knife has exceptional sharpness, craftsmanship, and style, definitely worth the money.

Ginsu Chikara Open Stock Series Japanese Steel 7-Inch Cleaver with Polymer Handle and Steel Endcap

Ginsu Chikara Open Stock Series Japanese Steel 7-Inch Cleaver with Polymer Handle and Steel Endcap 7100This is a great vegetable cleaver. This shouldn't be confused with a meat cleaver which has a thicker blade used to chop through bone. It has a thinner blade meant to chop and slice vegetables and boneless meat. It has a double-bevel unlike many japanese knives.

It as about 7" long and I think it is a great buy. I typically like to use a Chinese cleaver to chop veggies but mine is 4 inches wide and a bit unweildly for smaller jobs. The width of this one makes it much easier to manipulate for jobs that are big and small. Yet, it still feels substantial in the hand. It is easy to slice veggies and smash garlic cloves. It keeps it's edge and is durable.

This ginsu seems to be the best bang for the buck. I was glad that was able to test it and gave it great reviews. We have been very happy with it.

This is a good size for quick chopping of vegetables. It's sharp, balanced well, is sturdy with a full tang handle. It looks good with other Chikara knives I have. It was received sharp and has kept its edge well so far. When it gets dull, I plan to change the bevel from 20 degree to 15 degree for quicker cutting.

This is very similar in shape to a Japanese style knife called a Nakiri in Japan, and also similar to a Japanese vegetable cleaver, but smaller. This is heavier and thicker than a true nakiri, and lighter and smaller than the traditional Japanese cleaver. Some people might try it on bones and bend or chip the blade. It's not for hard stuff like that, it's for quick chopping, dicing and mincing of vegetables and boneless meat. The blade is too delicate for bones or frozen food. It is about twice as thick on the spine as the true Japanese Nakiris that I have, and weighs about twice as much.

Beware, it's not the most stainless alloy of steel. It will rust spot if you put it in a dishwasher or leave it wet for a long time. The handle will probably fade to gray also in the dishwasher, so it's not recommended. I suspect they had to balance steel hardness against rust resistance, and at this price cost had to be a factor too. Anyway I don't wash any cutlery in the dishwasher -no major maker recommends that. They suggest hand washing and immediate drying.

I still give it 5 stars because I don't think you can beat it at anywhere near this price. It's a very good knife for it's intended purpose.

Buy Ginsu Chikara Open Stock Series Japanese Steel 7-Inch Cleaver with Polymer Handle and Steel Endcap Now

I had been looking for a Chinese cleaver for kitchen work, I went back Ginsu Chikara series because I have a couple other knives and enjoy them very much. This cleaver is NOT a bone cleaver, and it is not a full Chinese cleaver, but for what we prep in the kitchen it is awesome. It has all the height of a big chef's knife, but not all the length. In a small kitchen that is very important! Our counter (yep just one) can get cluttered during cooking and an 8 to 10 inch chef's knife starts poking things past the edges of the cutting board. No worries with this! And it is wide enough to scoop cut items from the board and transfer them to pot or pan, granted a true Chinese cleaver is wider si I may have to make two scoops rather than one. Long straight cuts are a breeze and there is weight and tip enough to get some detail work in as well. There are better knives on the market, but you will pay well over $100 dollars for them.

I am no Todd English but after seeing him use this style knife I wanted to use one to do my chopping and mincing. You would be crazy to buy a Henkle or other high end knife without trying this first.

Want Ginsu Chikara Open Stock Series Japanese Steel 7-Inch Cleaver with Polymer Handle and Steel Endcap Discount?

Very good quality, I purchased after buying the 12 piece Chikara set and being very satisfied with the quality of the Chikara series. Keep in mind, this is not really a cleaver. Why they call it a cleaver, I have no idea. I knew before I bought it, but it is a nakiri, which is a knife for chopping greens and onions and such. Do not attempt to chop meat and bones with this, you will damage it. The blade is a little longer, much thinner, and has less depth than a real cleaver. I can't stress this enough.

For veggies, this is light but not too light, and well balanced, matching the quality of the rest of the Chikara set. Very sharp, good quality steel, just needing light honing before each use as you would any quality knife. Much better than the price would indicate, making it a great value for a nakiri bocho. As long as you know what you are getting, you will love it.

Gourmet Settings Non Stop 20-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 4I have owned the Non-Stop flatware for two years and still love it. We use it for our everyday flatware and continue to get compliments on it from guests. I did have a few very small rust spots in the beginning but a little Bar Keepers Friend wisked them away and I have not had problems since. They are tossed in the dishwasher without a care. As with all my flatware when I hand wash them, I do prefer to dry them right away to keep water spots off. I love the feel in the hand. They look great with paper plates or china. Non-stop by Jet Set is a great buy.

I registered for these for my wedding and I loved them. Until after a few times in the dishwasher. My knives started to rust just like the other reviews described. I love the heaviness and the look of these. The first time I bought a set, though, I noticed one of the fork tines was bent, so I returned it and got a new set. When I got a different set, once I had opened them, I noticed that around the fork tines of a couple of the forks, the metal looked a little bent or weird. I haven't noticed any rusting yet, but if it does rust, I'm sure it's going to be around that part. Check the items before you purchase them. The 50-year warranty should cover the rusting, though.--Jacob's wife

Zayka Avanti 6-Inch Ceramic Chef's Knife, White BladeI really liked this knife from the day I got it. It became my go-to blade for anything other than meat. After almost 2 years, the plastic handle broke. The edge is still great it chips a little over time but it's still verrrrry sharp. I tried to get the manufacturer info from Amazon in order to use the 10-year warranty, but they couldn't provide it. The phone operator escalated the problem up a level; maybe that will help.

Does someone out there have a phone number or email for the warranty?

This is the first ceramic knife I have owned. I don't have other ceramic knives to compare it to, but I"m sold with Zakya. The Avanti Chef's Knife is very sharp, and very well balanced. I found it to be avantiperfect for cutting vegetables and fruit.

We first tested the knife out on some tomatoes. The ceramic blade cut through them like butter and what we had in the end was perfectly even thin slices. I like that the knife cuts without the need to apply a lot of pressure.

This is not the first ceramic knife I own. I use it for more than 2 weeks already and Zayka is the best so far: very sharp, very well balanced (being very light) and good looking! Handle feels perfect in my hand. There are more expensive, fancier and probably better knifes on the market but Zayka gives you the most bang for your buck in my humble (I have a few years of professional cooking experience') opinion. As I mentioned before, it is not the first ceramic knife in our household and this one becoming my wife's favorite too. Recommended!

Amefa Premier Oxford 32 Piece Chest Flatware set for 8 people

Amefa Premier Oxford 32 Piece Chest Flatware set for 8 peopleThis would be a perfect 5-star rating BUT.... the "tea spoon" is the size of a demitasse spoon, not a typical "teaspoon." Other than that the flatware is fabulous -well crafted, substantial, nicely finished. I wish they made a larger teaspoon to at least order separately.

Cuisinart CTG-00-DB Dough Blender

Cuisinart CTG-00-DB Dough BlenderThis may be an unimportant minor kitchen tool, but not only does it blend dough, it easily minces tuna and boiled eggs very finely for tuna or egg salad sandwiches. I had used an old dough blender similar to this for ages, but it eventually stress-fractured at the very thin joints, thus I replaced it with the only thing I was able to find in stores, a similarly styled tool but with FLEXIBLE wires like on a wire whisk. It was worthless; a true engineering disaster. Finally, disgusted, I looked online and found this. It has been wonderful to have a useful dough blender again.

I purchased this item through Amazon about 4 months ago to replace a Pampered Chef blender that broke at the weld. I wanted one that was comfortable to my hand as I have very long fingers and arthritis as well. I read reviews on this item and felt it would meet my needs very well. The blades looked sturdy, not flimsy wires. The problem with this blender is that the plastic handle pulled from the metal base part of the handle and so you have no handle to use. The screws are not long enough to attach down into the metal securely. I have only used this item twice. I love the way the handle fits my hand but the construction end is very poorly thought out or I have the only faulty one made.

I haven't yet called Amazon but will do so today. I am not overly concerned with them not giving me a refund as the Customer Service has always treated me fairly. I have no doubts they will on this as well. I am not going to replace it with the same though. I am going to go with the one that is all metal. Maybe have better luck on that one. Oh and yes, I was cutting cold butter into flour to make a pie crust.

Add on to this review. I couldn't return this product as I guess there is a time limit. That kinda bummed me out as it is a very poorly made item...

This Dough Blender works fantastically...not just for blending dough, but meats as well. We used it to blend our meatloaf and the result was great.

Global Spatula

Global G-21/6 - 6 inch, 15cm Stainless Steel SpatulaUntil I started baking, I couldn't imagine what good a narrow, 10 inch spatula might be. I purchased this model to apply icing to small cakes. Like most GLOBAL brand utensils, this spatula is balanced and features seamless construction. The black dimples in the handle provide satisfactory grip under most conditions, which is often a concern with metal handles.

Update: I also own the 4 inch spatula. I love it. It has a bendy, agile quality that is perfect for spreading condiments on bread. However, the four inch spatula seems overmatched when it comes to stiff cream cheese. I don't consider this a flaw, really. If the blade were strengthened for hard cream cheese and cold butter, it would compromise the bendiness that gives this instrument its deft, jaunty quality. The blade is thin enough to cut, but not sharp like a knife. Because of the short, thin blade, this tool is necessarily unbalanced versus the handle. Just be aware that you might need something sturdier if you deal in cold, hard cheese.

These spatulas are suitable for use with magnetic retainers. I've come to loathe my aluminum utensils because they cannot be rapidly deployed from a magnetic rack.

What is there to say? This is another great Global product. I use it just as much or more than my global knives. When it comes to buttering toast, or making a PB&J, this thing is awesome. Matches my other Global products, which is really the only reason to spend this kind of money on a spatula...

I ordered it by mistake. Glad I did. I am amazed how much I use it for all kinds of stuff. Sandwiches, spreading various foods, stirring things, cooking. Nice tool. I have several Global products and like them all, Global makes very high quality products.

J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 7-Piece Knife Set

J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 7-Piece Knife SetHello my fellow Amazonians!

I recently purchased this set for everyday kitchen use and cooking. I am an amature when it comes to cooking, but I do love to cook and try new things in the kitchen. My goal was to have a quality knife set. I settled on these for two main reasons: 1) the reputation of J.A. Henckels 2) they were forged. Granted they are still made in China, but they are a nice entry level into the forged knives for the price. As a matter of fact you can't pass up the price. I have seen the same knife set on other sites for an additional $150 plus.

I have only had them for a week or so, but they rock! Very Sharp! The scissors are awesome (always wanted some kitchen scissors!) The other knives are the right tools for the everyday chef. The paring knife is a little small, but works well. I am NOT washing these in the machine; hand wash, immediate dry and back to the block. The handles are well balenced and each knife has some weight to it to help with the cutting, the blades do not bend, (nor should they being forged. I did not go to the next set up which included steak knives, which I did not need. For the price, you can NOT beat the quality, the variety they offer nor the reputation from J.A.

I have no negatives at this point. One concern about the block as it is not wood but a composite metal. Not sure if this is good or bad. But a thought: Sometimes putting a knife away, the point will snag on a wood block and bend, this will not happen on the composite block. Other than that, I am quite pleased with my purchase.

I have owned this set of knives for about a year now and have to say that the more I use them, the more I love them. They are "off-limits" to my family because these are "my" knives. My wife says they are too sharp for her and the kids don't understand the proper treatment of a good-quality knife. Trust me, you won't be disappointed picking up a set of these babies...

They feel well balanced, hold their edge, and are high-quality metal. I never run them through the dishwasher and I haven't had any rust problems with them. Every few months I take them out of the block, check the edge, and oil them, re-clean them and return them to the block. All-in-all a wonderful set of knives...

I bought this set about 1 month ago and like it very much. Sharp, well balanced and good looking knives. No rust problems, but I wash and dry them right away and don't leave them laying around on the counter or in the sink they are too sharp for that anyways. The curved handles are comfortable and feel good in my hands. The wood block is handsome and the sharpening steel works like a charm. The scissors are also sharp and good quality. I use the knifes every day and can recommend them to you. For the price, they are a great value.

Also the J.A.Henckels customer service is very good. One of the knifes was the wrong size and they promptly sent me the right one.

These knives are sharp.. And real metal, which means keep the brillo pad near by. They are going to get rust on them... Your suppose to wash the knife and then dry it right afterwards. Its two years later and the knives are still sharp. Did not sharpen it yet, but maybe later this year. The scissors are stronger than your average house scissors, but they are for the kitchen. I am impressed with them. Remember the rust going to happen from water not being dried on it... a couple swipes with the brillo and looks good as new.

Update: 7/29/2012, I purchased this product september 2009. I do not need to sharpen the knives yet, except maybe the chop knife. Its gets used the most. These are genuine steel knives, so they must be dried right after washing or you will see rust spots, the same as a cast iron pan. Take care of the products and it will take care of you. A Steel pad will easily get rid of the rust spots. But great reliable products. I'm impressed.
