Farberware Resin 5-Inch Santoku Knife with Sheath, Blue

Farberware Resin 5-Inch Santoku Knife with Sheath, BlueThis knife is surprisingly sharp! I mainly bought this knife for its anti-stick resin coating and its baby blue color. If Pure Komachi had this color in a 5-inch santoku blade then I would have never considered this knife. But I'm glad I did! At first cut (no pun intended), this bad boy is sharp as a razor blade... I was cutting through raw cobs of corn (still wrapped in leaves) like butter! Okay, perhaps not that easily but I would say easier than cutting cucumbers with my other santoku knives..and that's plenty sharper than what I am used to (or rather what my hands are used to). I tried a block of cheddar cheese, ohhh man, I felt like I was cutting soften brie. I really hope the edge stays this sharp and the resin keeps doing its non-sticky business as time goes by. I guess part of that depends on my usage and handling. Until then I'm loving it.

On a more analytic note, the handle has this velvety soft silicone feel to it, sort of like a silicone cellphone case. But its still firm in my hand and it doesn't get slippery when wet. Plus the shape fits my grip like it was molded from a wish come true. In addition to the anti-stick coating, which is labeled as FDA-approved, the blade has grooved scallops like a Granton edge (see uploaded picture). The included sheath is the same color as the blade and the handle. It has this see-through design that seems nothing more than aethestics. This part I wish they left out or made as holes instead because occassionally when inserting the knife back inside it gets caught in the design. Initially inserting it in slowly and then fast like it was some samurai sword helps mitigate the issue. Apart from that, it seems the only thing keeping from cutting rifts in time and space is me refraining from swinging this knife around. Just kidding :) I recommend this knife for casual kitchen chores...especially cutting corn and slicing cheese.

This is an awesome knife. It works really well. If you are in college this would be the sharpest knife you and your roommates ever used. When I was in college I had a $15 knife from target and it went dull after a few uses. I cook a lot and this knife is perfect. It cuts meat and veggies easily. I've had it for about 3 months now and I use it everyday and it hasn't gone dull.

Make sure to always keep it clean and keep it dry so it will stay sharp longer!

I've had quite a few of the expensive brand knives and cheap knives over the years. This one is my favorite. It's incredibly sharp, well balanced, and has a wonderful grip on it. I love the sheath and the blue color.

This is my 2nd blue knife. I own many sizes and love them all. This one gets used the most, that's why I bought another. No more fighting over who gets to use it. Makes cutting so easy.

I am quite the fan of resin knives. Especially these bright, colorful ones. I have quite a few Hampton Forge, Tomodachi, Komachi and different styles too.

This one however was a bad buy! It was a lovely, bright color, which is why I bought it. But the blade, unlike the other brands, became blunt quite quickly. It hardly lasted 20 uses perhaps and was quite a disappointment. Would not recommend it! I think its the particular brand and would suggest any of the others.
