Save your money and buy the old fashioned meat thermometer. They may not be the most accurate, but you know they won't be reading 223 degrees while sitting on your counter when you first plug it in and turn it on.looks like one company in china makes these for several vendors. this was the cheapest but looks identical to $27 units. Works perfectly. accurate. like all of these thermometers, your cannot soak the proper wire. most top cooks recommend a thermometer like this plus an instant read, I agree. this purchase was a no brainer.
there was an old model of this. the newer model, this one, has an on off switch. look for the on off switch.
