Starfrit Salad Spinner, Purple

I bought this model in black and it is the best design. I've had two others previous to this design, one that you pumped and one that had the knob on top that you had to wind up in a circle, no comparison to using this one. I was hesitant to purchase this because it was more money than most and it was larger, I was looking for one that compacted to take less space in the cabinet but I'm glad I chose this model. It takes the water off the salad greens with no effort at all. It is easy to wind up and only takes a few turns of the handle to get it moving in full motion. It is easy enough for my two year to use. Definitely a must have in the kitchen.

The Bad:

When we got this product, after a couple of of meals, we noticed a metal washer in the lettuce. We weren't sure where it came from. When we put back on the top and continued spinning, we noticed another plastic washer in the lettuce. We could hear rattling noises in the top, which verified something was wrong with the product. This is a SAFETY issue!

The Ugly:

We called the manufacturer, and could only leave a voice message. I explained the problem, emphasized that this was a SAFETY issue, and left my phone number for a call back, per their instructions. NO ONE CALLED US BACK.

The Good:

We buy from Amazon whenever we can. Like Costco, we trust their return policy, etc. This spinner is by far the best one we have had with respect to getting out water from lettuce, etc., so we opted to get a replacement. Amazon sent us our replacement immediately. We still look at our lettuce, but also at the center of the inside of the top, where we can see the washers that fell out of the previous unit.

Just got my first salad spinner; read the reviews and decided on this one. We have been eating lots of salad and I was tired of drying my lettuce by whipping it in a towel around my head (great visual, huh?) Anyway, it seems very sturdy, the bowl is attractive enough to serve salad in it. You can rinse the lettuce in the colander portion, spin it dry in less than a minute and be ready to go for eating. It also stores good in my fridge; fits perfect on the shelf. I am happy!

I can't say enough good things about this salad spinner. The design is just brilliant. It's easy to get the inner bowl moving fast, and also to get it to stop. The side handle is really comfortable and durable compared to other designs that use cords or other gadgets. It doesn't "slip" like some of the less expensive models. It's just a great way to get leafy vegetables dry!

I love this salad spinner. I had one of the kind where you pull the string & it broke. I've also used the push button kind. This one is way better than those other styles. It's very sturdy, it spins fast & smooth and gets my greens dry. It's also easy to clean and not too bulky in the cupboard. So far I've used it for lettuce, kale and basil & it worked equally well with all of them.
