Sekiryu Deba Japanese Knife 6 1/4" Blade

Sekiryu Deba Japanese Knife 6 1/4' BladeThis is a reasonably priced deba. The ootb sharpness is about par with some Wusthof and Henckels products.Nothing special compared to higher price point japanese knives. The fit and finish are ok but nothing special here either.

Nice balance though.

I put a razors edge on the one I purchased. I haven't really done a lot of cutting with it so I can't comment on the edge retention. But it sharpened easily so it doesn't appear to be super hardened. But it can be used as a cleaver on smaller poultry and fish bones so that's not a bad thing..

After staining the handle. And polishing the blade. Both easily accomplished. It's not a bad looking knife either.

Appears to be worth the money if you're not ready to shell out a hundred bucks or more to see it a deba is a knife you'll like and use.

Once you see what this cheap one will do you might decide a deba is a knife you want and upgrade.Instead of spending $50-150 and finding out you don't appreciate it.

If you're just looking for a cheap handy knive that can be sharpened to a razor edge

this isn't a bad choice.

MATFER BOURGEAT 116011 Flat Pastry Brush

MATFER BOURGEAT 116011 Flat Pastry BrushI'm tired of my old pastry brush, the bristle is coming off! Time to replace it. I am careful this time to choose what brush to buy. I came across with this brush which is made in france. Oh my, I was very happy with this brush, it is well made and the brush is very soft. I run my hand and kind of pull it lightly see wether any bristle will come off but no bristle came off. The handle is made of light high quality plastic. I just love this brush. I will buy some more.

I have used this pastry brush by rubbing it in my palm oil shortening, and then rubbing the brush on my waffle iron heated plates.

I used to use similar brushes from painting sets, with the metal band to hold the bristles: the bristles would fall off.

This Pastry Brush has no loose bristles. Very well made pastry brush.

I teach cooking and after purchasing a few plastic bristled or silicone bristled brushes and having them melt or leave bristles in the food, I had enough. I ordered two of these and they are excellent. They wash out well, dry quickly and none of the bristles have fallen out yet. I use them quite often and recommend them to my students.

Ronco Six Star Rocker Select 3-Piece Knife Set

Ronco Six Star Rocker Select 3-Piece Knife SetI got the big 25-piece set off the infomercial but was bothered with the fact that the knife block had two empty spaces. So I bought this set and put the Rocker and the paring knife in the empty slots. I've yet to find a use for the rocker, but with as often as I use paring knives I like having two on hand!

The small chef knife I bring with me to work: It's a great little dicer! It's cheap enough so that I don't care if it gets damaged, but good enough that it'll stand up to rigorous prep work in a professional kitchen.

True, the handles are cheap hollow plastic and the blades are certainly not the sturdiest things in the world, but they are by no means "bad" knives.

You do have to be delicate to make them last (and the Ronco lifetime guarantee thing is a headache to try to deal with: you may as well not even fool yourself into thinking you'll get anywhere with that). Following a few simple rules will prolong their life:

-DO NOT put them through the dishwasher: This is a rule you'd follow even with GREAT knives. Even though they are dishwasher safe, even Ronco typed up a small blurb on the back of their packaging saying why and how it can damage the knives. The heat and chemicals in modern dishwashers can damage the appearance, edge, and potentially the handles (which are, as mentioned, cheap plastic)

-DO NOT let them sit in the sink (Which is another thing you would do even if these were GREAT knives): Aside from the obvious safety risk of leaving a knife in a murky, soapy sink full of dishes, the water (and any additives or minerals contained therein), detergent, food particulates, and abrasion/collision with other utensils and dishes can damage the blades and handles.

-HAND WASH IMMEDIATELY: Get a little soapy brush, scrub the knives, rinse them VERY well, wipe them dry, and let them air out a bit. Again, something you'd do with high quality knives.

-Don't be stupid with them. Don't cut soup cans, hammers, bricks, etc. like they do on the informercials. Don't use them as screwdrivers or pry-bars, because they're not. You wouldn't do that with a set of Shun knives, would you?

Basically, treat them like good knives and they'll rise to the occasion. Treat them like kitchen junk, and that's all they'll be. A little care and consciousness goes a long way with these.

If you want a magic knife set that you can abuse, this is not it. Buy a 20 dollar block set from Big Lots for that. If you get these, consider it a training device for someone who might one day invest in a nice $500+ set.

These completed my moms full set and my mother in laws full set,HIGH quality items,we have had ours 8 years and counting with no flaws small or large,SIX STASR KNIVES are the best i have found around the world.

Buy Ronco Six Star Rocker Select 3-Piece Knife Set Now

I bought this knife set in order to add to the Six Star+ knives that I already had. Overall, the knives work well. The Ronco Rocker cuts, slices, chops, etc very well. It was pretty much as advertised. The small chef knife works well, also. It slices and chops things with very little effort. The third knife in the set, the paring knife, was not as good as the others. It makes a sound as if there is something loose inside the knife. I do not use this one because of this and also because I already have a Ronco paring knife that I bought a while ago, which is in better shape and does what it is supposed to do.

Jaccard Ceramic 3-Inch Peeling Knife

Jaccard Ceramic 3-Inch Peeling KnifeI've used plenty of ceramic knives before, although this is the first ceramic bird's beak (BB) and my first Jaccard. This knife is pretty bad. It has a number of problems:

(1) The ceramic blade isn't nearly as sharp as I'd expect remember, this is a brand-new factory blade purchased direct from Jaccard (via Amazon). The whole point of ceramic materials is that they hold their edge perfectly over time... well, this edge started out crappy so it is going to stay crappy. I find it very hard to cut into a fresh cherry tomato, where I can do this easily with my 20 year old $10 Henckels knife with old crappy steel that I've sharpened hundreds of times.

(2) The blade is a bit large for a BB. I measure it as 82mm from base to tip (linear, so add a bit for the true arc-length). My Henckels is 68mm, which is a much better size. To be clear, this has nothing to do with my hand size, or the handle size, or the combination of the two (both knives fit well in my hand, which is average sized). What sucks is that the blade itself is larger than lots of things you'd want to pare with it. FYI the Jaccard's maximum arc is 3.5mm and the Henckels is 4mm, so the Jaccard also has a pitifully wide radius of curvature.

(3) The ceramic blade is fairly thick stock (measured at the back, not at the blade edge), which is especially bad on a knife meant for fine-paring as it means there's a fair amount of pressure and drag when you're trying to slip the entire knife inside something being pared. My Jaccard is = 1.80mm, Henckels BB = 0.71mm. For reference my Wusthof Grand Prix I (not II) regular paring knife is = 1.24mm and a relatively even thickness, my Global 20cm chef's knife = 1.75mm and a slightly tapered material ("Japanese style" thin for a full size chef's knife) and an old Henckels 20cm heavy "German style" chef's knife (from the same set at the BB) is = 3.15mm (this material is very tapered so it has a very thick feeling spine). On the cutting edge the Henckels BB goes gradually down to 0.38mm, where the Jaccard has a wedge-grind about mid-way and still only gets down to 0.64mm near the sharpened grind. I think a good BB knife needs very thin and flat material, so this Jaccard doesn't seem great.

(4) The blade has a very inconsistent radius-of-curvature. This is going to be hard to see in my picture, but it basically *looks* like this knife was sharpened free-handed by an unskilled laborer. I'm fine with handmade products, assuming of coure the craftsman doing the hand-work is better at it than a machine, which clearly isn't the case here (or the machine has really bad tolerances). This may sound nit-picky, but when you're trying to make a precision cut in a piece of food by drawing the knife along it, even a fraction of a millimeter change in the curvature is very noticable and annoying. This particular point is the main one I'm citing with the company to try to get them to give me a new and better knife.Pros:

knife came with a custom-made sleeve

medium price *for ceramic* (as opposed to real expensive ones)

Cons:

#1 above

#2 above

#3 above

#4 above

#5 above

Unknowns:

I haven't had this long enough to know how well the ceramic holds up to chipping or staining.

This knife takes some getting use to as the blade seems to be on the wrong side. I am use to using the Bird's Beak blades.

Wusthof Classic 7-Inch Fillet Knife With Sheath

Wusthof Classic 7-Inch Fillet Knife With SheathI have been looking for a really good fillet knife for several years. I wish I had the money I spent on all the fillet knives I have purchased. I was always dissatisfied with the edge retention on even some of the higher end brands. I finally decided to go with a battery operated fillet knife and it does a pretty good job. This knife was suggested and I was fore warned that it would NOT be a cheap purchase. I bit the bullet and ordered the knife and went with the custom blade after reading the reviews. When the knife arrived I was pleased with the flexibility and the keen edge and scarey sharp point. I finally managed to clean a few fish after a recent trip and was pleased with the edge retention, I did use a leather strop on the knife prior to use. (I didn't have to stop half way through the filleting process and sharpen it). As I said it is not a cheap purchase and like any good knife does require a minimum of maintenance (i.e do not store it in the a wet leather sheave, clean it thoroughly after use... common sense things) to maintain this high quality knife. I will be going on a Canadian fishing trip this summer and will put the knife through a very vigorous usage. I will update my review after the prolonged "test".

Bought this for my husband and he was very pleased. He said he could tell right away just by the blade, that it was going to be a good knife.

Totally Bamboo Drawer Organizer

Totally Bamboo Drawer Organizer, 6-Inch by 15-InchI have a non-matching set of salt & pepper grinders that I got sick of taking to the table when we eat and then putting away so they're out of sight. Plus they leave a little bit of salt & pepper behind every time we use them. I measured my grinders and found this product on Amazon (the 3x9 version). Both grinders fit great (see images) with room left over for various hot sauce bottles. Keeps the stuff organized, neat (it catches the excess salt & pepper) and makes it easy to transport everything to the table in one fell swoop. I like the quality, the look and the functionality so much that I bought another one in a different size.

This is a very nice bamboo drawer organizer. The quality is good. No funky odors, very attractive wood, and nicely finished corners (rounded and smooth). Actually a bit better than I expected at this price. I got the 6x15 size to hold some larger utensils and it works very well. I would definitely consider buying some of the other sizes now that I have seen the quality.

I'm using mine in a drawer, but it's nice enough that you could use on a desk or table as well.

There was packing material around it, but the glue that binds it together didn't hold up. Had to return it.

Compared to other bamboo products offered by Amazon, these drawer organizers pale in comparison. They are quite thin and feel like balsa wood, instead of bamboo. Mine were just in a box without any packing material and I am thankful that they did not arrive broken. If you put them in a drawer and are careful with them, they might do well, but they are quite fragile and I am worried about handling them as dropping them on the floor might cause them to break in pieces. Not worth the cost.

I ordered 2 of these organizers and both arrived broken. They are cheap, flimsy, and light as balsa wood. Don't waste your time and money on this product.

Wusthof Precision Edge Diamond Electric Sharpener

Wusthof Precision Edge Diamond Electric SharpenerI purchased this Wusthof Electric Knife Sharpener since I'm getting behind in keeping many of my kitchen knives sharp. I have used a GATCO 5pc Stone Sharpener Gatco Knife Sharpener for years to sharpen my kitchen knives since it uses a clamp on guide to sharpen any knife I own. However this electric sharpener is not as versatile as my Gatco or other electric ones that tell you they will handle Asian knives or boning knives that should be sharpened at a 15° angle. And you can't use the Wusthof for serrated knives. But for sharpening to a 19 to 20° angle for European or American chefs' knives, this Wusthof will handle it (and well). I wonder how much more it would have cost Wusthof to place another set of grinding wheels for a 15° angle? The help line at Wusthof tells me while I cannot use the sharpener on my Santuku knives I can use it on boning knives? Well, I don't buy that advice.

I like the fact that I run each knife between the slots between the two wheels. First the coarse wheel slot then the fine slot. Done. Next knife. Easy. But I have a tendency to pull the knife through the slot a bit too fast and the knife skips on the wheel just a bit. I guess the reason why I can't easily sharpen knives other ways is that by the time I sharpen one edge the other edge develops burrs. Sharpening both sides at the same time seems to be the easier way to get a sharp knife. I agonized just a bit over whether a hollow ground sharpened blade edge while sharper will lead me to keep sharpening or tuning the knife because others say that this type of edge tends to be weaker than a traditional edge (as the argument goes). So far, I have not found that to be the case.

PROS:

Puts a hollow ground edge that is sharper than a traditional straight edge.

The Wusthof electric sharpener leaves a very sharp and very smooth edge on my knife, even smoother than with the sharpening stones of my Gatco.

I can sharpen or tune up my knife drawer full of knives in short time.

CONS:

Cannot use it to sharpen serrated, Asian (Santuku, Chinese Chef Knife), and I would add boning knives.

Tends not to sharpen about a quarter inch close to the heel of some knifes because of the design and placement of the interlocking wheels. But will you or I notice this when we use the knife? So far, I have not noticed it.

I've used several sharpening systems over the years, both manual and electric.

If you wish to spend the time with oil and stone, you will get the best edge,

but only if you learn the proper techniques and are very methodical.

The Wusthof 2908 is the best electric sharpener I have used.

It is quick and precise. Follow the instructions correctly and

you will get an edge that is almost as good as an oil and stone sharpening,

in one eighth the time.

I just finished my Sabatier set in about 15 minutes,

a job that would take about 2 hours with my Ouachita stone set.

Other electic sharpeners use grinding wheels that sharpen

each side of the blade seperately. The Wusthof 2908 system uses a set of

diamond impregnated steels that sharpen both sides at once,

with a hollow ground pattern.

It is expensive, but the three year warranty and the reputation

of Wusthof for quality cutlery should mean that you will get

many years of quick, efficient sharpening.

Well sharpened knives are safer and make cooking more enjoyable.

Buy Wusthof Precision Edge Diamond Electric Sharpener Now

If you want your expensive Wusthof knives to be as sharp as they were the first time you used them then get yourself one of these. Nothing worse than a dull knife. And if you already put out the money for Wusthof then you and I both know that cooking is more than just eating. I have tried other non electrical sharpeners only to find that they do not get the blade to the original razor sharpness. This will!

I have a Chefs Choice electric sharpener and it is pretty good. However, it never completely satisfied me in terms of its performance in certain aspects. It scratched some of my Wusthof knives and while leaving them sharp, they were not as sharp as I expected. Ergo, knowing Wusthofs quality, I decided to go ahead and splurge on this sharpener. Wow!! am I glad I did. My first experience was with a knife I felt was not as sharp as it could be, after reading the instructions and then running it through stage 2 (honing) for four strokes it is now scary sharp. This is quite an upgrade. The only caveats are, it doesn't do serrated or Asian knives. However, it does a fabulous job on the fine edge knives. Highly recommended.

Want Wusthof Precision Edge Diamond Electric Sharpener Discount?

I have owned 2 Chef's Choice knife sharpeners in the past which worked fairly well; however, they wear out relatively quickly especially for the cost. This sharpener on the other hand sharpens better and quicker than any Chef's Choice product I have owned and it's easier to use (sharpens both sides of the knife at the same time). I don't know about the longevity, but so far, an excellent product.

Bahco North America 625-PEAR Scraper Replacement Blade

Bahco North America 625-PEAR Scraper Replacement BladeThe listing shows three blades... the word "blades" is used twice in the description of what is being sold and it's listed as "PEAR PEAR SCRAPER" in the heading hinting at the possibility that you will in fact receive all three blades shown. Amazon even shows the photo of all three blades in the if you will buy these to items together you will only pay so much listing in the ad. Don't be fooled! You are paying for and will be receiving one pear shaped Bahco 625 PEAR blade. Shop around and you will find the single blades on the internet cheaper. Again, this listing is for a SINGLE PEAR SHAPED BLADE to fit the model 625 Bahco Scraper.

-The BAHCO blades are SUPERB! Stay keen and withstand a good deal of nail hits. More than the hyde blades so far.

The pear is a great for small concave areas, you can screw the blade in to use the large end or narrow. Or screw it down leaving a long edge exposed for different applications.

BAHCO HANDLE:

-Like the angle of the head for working on flat surfaces or fine details.

-Angle of head is not good for working the underside edge of lap-boards, the "ergonomic" HYDE scraper is better angled for that....leaves fewer gouges without having to hang upside-down and pay attention to what you're doing.

-For my hands (small, woman)the thickness of the handle is large and uncomfortable (only reason it lost a star). The length of handle is good, it is shorter than most other scrapers and therefore doesn't get in the way in tight spaces.

-You'll need to keep a screwdriver handy to change the blade out. Would be nice if they built one into the butt.

-Blades fit clean and EXACTLY into the notch!!! Have used other scrapers of similar design and when the blade shifts in the head, it gets annoying fast!

Am buying a second one of these because there's always a fight over who gets to use it.

Victorinox Cutlery 6-Piece 4-1/2-Inch Wavy Edge with Pointed Tip Steak Knife Set, Black

Victorinox Cutlery 6-Piece 4-1/2-Inch Wavy Edge with Pointed Tip Steak Knife Set, BlackHere are the downsides none of which warranted lowering the star rating. Not much heft, plastic handle feels like a plastic handle, not much to look at. The pluses: they cut great, didn't cost $275 which probably would have eliminated the minuses but I can live with that huge cost saving. If they hold up as well as a Swiss Army knife, they're a great deal.

I purchased 6 of these knives over 14 years ago in Europe. After years of being used every single day,(they are almost the ONLY knives I use in the kitchen), and being abused by cutting bags and boxes the 2 knives left were getting a bit dull even tho I could still cut tomatoes with them.

These are not just "steak" knives, they are "everything" knives. I was thrilled to find these wonders still available! If you buy them, I'm sure you will LOVE them! But be careful THEY ARE SHARP!!

Bought these as a gift for my girlfriend's parents. They're not the most attractive thing out there, but they work extremely well and are very sharp (as are all Victorinox knives I've used). In fact, they are SO sharp that both of the parents cut themselves using these knives within the first week. This is only because they are used to having very dull knives and thus misuse their knives, not due to any fault of the knife or its design. Highly recommended.

I was looking for a set of knives for my butcher block knife set and these were the perfect size. You will never have difficulties slicing through anything with these. The plastic handles are a bit of a trade-off they don't feel as nice as rosewood handles but you'll never have to worry about tossing them into the dishwasher. Seriously sharp and looks like they will stay that way for a long time.

Totally Bamboo Maui Thin Cutting Board

Totally Bamboo Maui Thin Cutting BoardI own several bamboo boards of various sizes and shapes. My favorite go-to board was one exactly this shape and size, but it was 3-4 times thicker. It was a lovely board, but, sadly, I accidentally burned it on the hot stove. This is the item I bought as a replacement and actually it is even better than the original. I learned with the other one that they sometimes slide around a little as one cuts, but placing a damp towel beneath it for friction solves that issue. The elongated shape gives room for various items to be chopped and yet stay separate.

It's a pretty board that stays on display on my counter, so I do oil it fairly frequently with Totally Bamboo Oil. (Regular mineral oil from the corner drug store seems to go on heavier and gets sticky more easily than smooth.) Of course, I don't wash it in the dishwasher, but do wash it frequently with hot soapy water, thus the need for oil, which I add monthly.

Guess it's the size and weight, though, that I appreciate the most. Food is heavy and awkward enough without adding a bunch of unnecessary pounds to lug around. It is used at least once or twice a day in my kitchen much more if I'm doing entertaining, because it easily doubles as a cheese board, or other serving tray. I also have the two smaller boards that come as a pair, and they're fine, but this one is the star.

I've never had a board from Totally Bamboo split or break.

I highly recommend it and can't see why anyone would be unhappy with it especially at the low price.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The can opener part that cuts the can ia all that works with its magnetic bit to pull a newly cut lid from a can. A bottle opener ridge is in front too. The good review stops now. Other functions [in back of the tall item] are unfunctional; 1)an unreplaceable bit [for opening potato chip bags etc] requires you to drag the whole bag sideways across this tiny razor for the length of your bag. 2) two crossed sharpening stones didnt sharpen a knife I dragged 30 times between plus the item is so light, you have to hold it down while dragging = safety issue!

SELECTOOL - Master Sharpener - Sharpens Knives, Scissors, Tools, Axes, Hatchets - Cuts Glass & Tile

SELECTOOL - Master Sharpener - Sharpens Knives, Scissors, Tools, Axes, Hatchets - Cuts Glass & TileI've tried all kinds of sharpeners over the years stones, stone systems, gadget sharpeners. NOTHING I tried ever put on the kind of edge I was looking for . . . until the Selectool.

I bought one at an antique threshers reunion in North Carolina. I saw the guy dull up a machete, sharpen it with this tool, and then cut paper with it. "Okay," I said, "I'll try one more time."

I took it home and proceeded to sharpen every knife in my wife's knife block in about 5 minutes. I got a very sharp edge on all the knives, including the bread knife, very quickly with very little effort. Well, well. It looks like this thing actually works. I check her knives occasionally and they stay sharp. Very impressive for the price.

I've used it to sharpen a bunch of scissors in my house. I've got a bunch of kids and they dull up scissors fast. This tool sharpens every one of them quickly and easily.

I actually have sharpened my lawn mower blade with this tool, just like it says. I tip the mower over, lay the tool on the cutting edge, and stroke down. It takes off a bunch of dull metal very quickly. I do the same number of strokes on the other side and its sharp. It really does what it says.

I'm not a glass cutter, but I believe this tool will cut glass and tile if I need it to. The unit comes with a lifetime guarantee, and the company has been around for almost 50 years, so I can get a brand new tool if this one ever breaks. Nice!

I recommend this highly. I've struggled with other sharpeners that claim to work but don't really do the job. This one does it all and more. Great tool.

**Update**

A few months after I started using this product on my knives and tools, I began doing demonstrations at live shows around where I live. I'm pleased to report it works as marvelously on everybody else's knives as it works on mine. Its a wonderful product to demonstrate, and I've been doing it now for more than 2 years.

Do you remember the old commercial where the guy says, "I liked the product so much, I bought the company!" Well, I bought the company, and I am now the current owner of The SelecTool. We continue to produce it right here in the U.S.A, and I can honestly say I enjoy using it more now than when I first got it. It does exactly what a knife sharpener is supposed to do.

I think you'll like it.

I own motorized and standard bench or hand sharpeners, and they do have their uses; however, the Selectool Master Sharpener has become more and more my "go to" tool because of its simplicity and flexibility. I have other sharpeners that work great, but only for specific jobs or they require a keen eye on safety while using it. Out of the package you can use the Selectool on many tools that need a sharp edge including knives, mower blades, and scissors. Its easy to use, safe, and doesn't require a power cord or special lubricants. My whole family has used it including my two sons (ages 13 & 17) who are boy scouts...even their friends in the troop come over to sharpen their pocket knives. Remember to watch the training videos and practice a little bit on a couple of "not so critical" knives first. There is a technique to using the tool, but you will pick it up quickly no sweat.

Bottom line: a great tool, easy to use, a solid warranty & a low price.

I've been carrying personal knives for over fifty years. I am compulsive about keeping them sharp. Until I purchased a SelecTool I always used stones for sharpening. I found that stones work okay for the softer blade metals, but once I got into the harder blades the stones were not as effective. However, once I began using the SelecTool I no longer encountered this problem. I now use the SelecTool for all my sharpening needs both personal as well as around the kitchen. The sharpening stones I used to keep in a kitchen drawer are now somewhere in the garage.

Purchased one and wish I hadn't. It is flimsy and difficult to hold and manage (it's only about 6" long). I am not able to get an edge on anything, and have had to have my knives 're-sharpened' that I attempted to sharpen with this gadget. The reviews you see are probably the, result of the "President" soliciting customers for a favorable review in exchange for a FREE additional tool. I fell into the trap when I received a request for a review in exchange for a free second tool, and I left a positive review thinking I could sell the additional tool and recover my loss. The sad news is the guy won't send the tool, or even respond to emails. What gives? Below is a copy of the email he sent to me asking me for a review of the product. I am sure others who have purchased the tool will recognize the email. Save your money and get an electrical sharpener than will actually put a decent edge on your blade(s).

Want SELECTOOL - Master Sharpener - Sharpens Knives, Scissors, Tools, Axes, Hatchets - Cuts Glass & Tile Discount?

I've had many sharpeners over the years, the Selectool Master Sharpener was one of the best investments i've made. I've used many other sharpeners that cost a lot more money that claim to work but don't really do the job. Out of the box I use it on my knives, Mower blade's, and scissors. Its one of the easiest sharpening tools i've seen in a long time. My wife was even able to use it after watching the short video on Youtube.

I highly recommend this little device, its a very good investment. Bottom line this one does as advertised. Great tool, good investment.

Chicago Cutlery Fusion 8-Inch Slicer, Sheath Packaging

Chicago Cutlery Fusion 8-Inch Slicer, Sheath PackagingI've been looking for quite a while for a good sized kitchen knife made of good quality and one that would stay sharp longer that the first time it was used. This knife is almost perfect it's excellent quality, stays sharp after several uses and has a decent weight for proper handling. I'm ready to buy another one!

I have no complaints, I love it! I lost the one that came with the block and this replacement is just like the original.

I first purchased a small Chicago paring knife, and was so pleased with it, I decided to update my favorite but ancient larger slicer with a Chicago slicer, and I wasn't disappointed. In fact it cut BETTER than my ancient favorite. So it is now my new favorite knife.

Bought this knife and it's more than I expected for the price. Weight, balance and grip are very good and the edge is still sharp after a couple of months use. Excellent value.

I was looking for a sharp basic knife. This knife was rated high for the price. So far I love this knife. Does a great job on onions, tomatoes, veggies, etc. My only negative is that it is made in China.

Bambu 12-Inch Large Cork Bowl, Natural

Bambu 12-Inch Large Cork Bowl, NaturalI saw these bowls in Whole Foods and fell instantly in love with them. I live in a warm, humid climate and these bowls are great because they stave off mold, moisture, etc. It has a clean, compact look. Easy to take care of. When shopping around everyone is asking $60.00 for them. Bought them on Amazon for $12 and change (80% savings). Plus feel good about using a recycled product. I'm thinking about a cutting board next....Cork is a tough, durable material!

The size and look of this bowl is great! It cleans easily and doesn't spot like I thought it might. The only downfall is that it has a strong odor, hoping with a few washes it will go away.

Arcos Spanish Bamboo Ham Holder

Arcos Spanish Bamboo Ham HolderThe ham holder is beautiful a work of art. Have not used it yet, but one issue I have is that the bottom pin is not adjustable. The ham I have, once secured in the vise, will not reach the pin. However, I can always drill a new hole and move it closer. Highly recommended.

This ham holder works with bone-in and boneless Serrano hams.

Well built, looks great.

I expected less and got more.

Global G-48338 - 3 Piece Knife Set with Santoku - Hollow Ground, Utility and Paring Knife

Global G-48338 - 3 Piece Knife Set with Santoku - Hollow Ground, Utility and Paring KnifeI did a lot of research before purchasing my first knife set. I'm a recent college grad and want to start collecting some quality kitchen equipment to last me a lifetime (hopefully). My initial tip on these kinves was from the book "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain a great read if you are interested in exploring cooking and the restaurant world or "culinary underbelly" as I believe he calls it. Bourdain recommends Global knives in the book.

These knives are the sharpest I have ever used. They are also very light and a delight to hold great craftsmanship. My mother kept a set of heavy German knives that were dull as rocks (I don't think she ever sharpened them, well maybe once a decade) and it was always frightful to use them growing up as I felt I'd cut my finger clear off trying to get a raw potato sliced (I loved making the mashed potatoes).

The three piece set gives you a lot of versatility. I've even *gasp* used these as an impromptu cardboard box cutter. One cool thing about this set is it includes a Santoku as the main chef's knife. According to Wikipedia, the "'granton edge' release pattern (scalloped) on the blades that not only adds style, but helps to release thin slices and sticky food after slicing." Cool.

Looking into sharpening options suggestions welcome.

Thank you Amazon for the very timely delivery (it currently looks like they are on backorder or something, though).

These are very nice knives, and the price is very reasonable for the quality you are getting.

I just bought some for my husband for his birthday, and he is completely in love with him. He is going to culinary school, so he is very specific about the kind of knife he likes.

They are very sharp, and come with instructions on how to take proper care of them, such as sharpening and cleaning. If anyone is looking to spend a little more for a good quality basic set of chefs' knives, I would definitely recommend these.

The only other thing to take into consideration is the unique handle design. My husband likes it; I know some prefer the more classic style of handle. However, I have not found that it makes using the knife difficult or awkward. It is more a matter of personal preference.

I have many fine knives in my collection, but these are my very favorite. I like them so much I gave them to my sister and to my neice for her wedding. The balance is great and the sharpness unequaled. Worth every penney.

Cooking with these, makes me feel like an actual cook.

Spending good money on good quality knives actually encouraged me to cook more instead of ordering out.

Sharp so far, works best on vegetables like cucumbers.
