Maybe for the mozzarella cheese, maybe even for a hard boiled egg or an apple, but for tomatoes, don't even try it....you'll mash the poor thing. I got mine through a school fund raiser and have no way to get my money back. I'll try it on other things, but never for my tomatoes. And as was stated previously, the cleaning of the device is hazardous.

Does not slice well at all, & when it does the slices are much to thick. Pretty much crushes the tomato. I should return it but am to lazy. :)

I eat a lot of tomatos, probably more than the average person. I would use this device to make one of my favorite treats a tomato and pickle salad. It worked a few times but soon the blade warped and began to cut into the plastic base. I love the whole idea of this product and hope to find something similar that I can use in its place.
