I agree with what some of the other reviewers are saying. This knife makes cutting bread a snap! Unlike other knives, this knife slices through the bread very smoothly. No "sawing" going on with this knife. Also, it really does help that this knife and the other Zyliss products can go in the dishwasher. Necessity in any kitchen!

This knife makes cutting hard-crusted (and soft) breads a breeze. I've gotten a few of these lighter weight knives lately and I'm really happy with them. They are sleek and light, and easy to clean (you can put them in the dishwasher. They also have a nice safety sheath to avoid cuts and dulling. I have this one in black, but other Zyliss knives come in fun colors, so they make great gifts for graduates going off to college and putting together their first kitchen utensils.

I've been told my whole life not to put the cutlery in the dishwasher, but behold, here is a knife that can finally go in the dishwasher! That excites this busy mom more than it should (it's the little things). This ain't your mama's bread knife: it's sleek and modern and does the bread slicing with precision.
