Oneida Paul Revere 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

I'm glad that I ordered just one place setting sos as to decide whether I wanted to order a settings for eight or more plus additional "server" implements.

The quality is okay but JUST okay. Adequate for everyday use, and better than some examples I have seen, but it won't impress anyone. It is not made of a particularly substantial gauge stainless, nor has it on the sides of the handles, been buffed out as well as it should have been. The knives were marginally better than the other implements.

Oddly, the handles are also distinctly shorter than other sets in the Revere pattern that I have bought in the past. Not ridiculously shorter, but one can immediately notice the difference.

I gave it one star because the price $30 for one place setting) is out of line for this quality or perhaps I should say "grade" of flatware. By contrast, I bought a four place set (in another pattern for a vacation home) of flatware from, of all places, a Cracker Barrel this past year (2010) for the same $30, which was distinctly more substantial and finished better. That, unfortunatly, is not available in the "Revere" pattern that I wanted for my year-round home.

This flatware is very enjoyable to use. It is stylish and has a simple design that is elegant. The size and handles make them easy to hold. The weight is just right. We really do love it and would recommend this flatware to others.

Since the time had come to replace our old kitchen flatware, my wife and I decided on this Oneida pattern...it was simple, yet classical, and we're not one for a lot of frills. We also wanted something that was of the higher quality stainless steel for longevity, and that had a good selection of extra serving accessories that we could add as we went along. This Paul Revere pattern fit the bill, and we absolutely love the set! Well balanced in the hand, and the brushed finish looks great whether the table is set for formal or everyday dining. The best price I found was here on Amazon as well.

My parents have owned this flatware set for years. It has held up beautifully, even after one of the salad forks had an encounter with a garbage disposal. I'm also going to buy this set for myself when I finally move out.
