Continental Electrics CE22261 Tall Can Opener with Knife Sharpener-white

Continental Electrics CE22261 Tall Can Opener with Knife Sharpener-whiteI usually do not review things, because in whole most things in my life up to now have been at least adequate. I am 46 and in my years have had experience with many appliances. I must say this one really stands out. Honestly and without reservation I know this thing to be not only the worst appliance I have ever used, but by far it has to be the worst appliance I have ever had even the slightest interaction with or possibly even seen. It never opened a can well under any circumstances. It ceased to open them at all within maybe a couple of weeks and perhaps 12 cans. I had to physically wrestle with it to have it work at all after perhaps 4 cans. It became easier to use a hammer and an old steak knife or screwdriver to open cans than this complete waste of material resources and money. I now use a .99 cent hand opener and really appreciate it's ease of use and precision compared to this electric monstrosity. It provides almost a Zen like experience. I will never buy ANY product made by this company again, unless it is at a thrift store in which case I would be purchasing it solely to quickly destroy and dismember it in order to remove it from the gene pool of electronics and save my fellow man from the psychological pain and scaring of it's chronic disappointment. If you see someone selling one of these used at perhaps a garage or yard sale beware. I do not know how anyone could sleep at nite passing such a scourge on to their fellow man intentionally. The mother of whomever designed this abomination should be truly very ashamed. Run when you see one. Do not even think about it. You have been warned. That is all I have to say.

I had a electric can opener for years, then it broke, so I went to amazon to look for a deal....this is a piece of junk!!! I didnt even send it back it went right into the garbage!! DONT BUY!!!

I read the review of a 46 year old. I'm 77 and I have to say that this can opener is probably the worst appliance I have ever purchased. It will not hold the can. It will not cut the metal. Of course, if it won't hold the can how will it cut the lid? To make matters worse, I purchased two of them and one was just as bad as the other. I would love to send it back to the company but, and what's very interesting, there is no location given other than "made in China" stamped on the case. Question, why would any store even sell such a product. It can't be good for the stores' image.

I have never seen such a worthless appliance as this one. I used it (along with my brother) for a couple or three weeks and threw it in the trash. I replaced it with a regular hand held can opener and some P-38 military openers, both of which work great. If this is any indication of the quality of Continental Electrics, I don't foresee them being in business long.

I bought this little can opener from the CVS down the street. It was around $20 and while I knew it wouldn't be a lifelong family member, I certainly expected it to work longer than a day. Here's my thought process while opening the very first can with this thing:

Oh sweet, I love my new can opener. It's all white and new. Here ya go, can opener, here's your very first can to open. Hmm...I can't seem to find the right fit and the opener doesn't seem to want to take the can. Okay, it finally got a hold of the can and now the motor is working! Yay! Wait...why is the motor slowing down? This is only a can of tuna. Wait...why has the motor stopped?! My can isn't open yet! Noooo! Please, new shiny white can opener I just bought open my can. I'm hungry for tuna and my cat has already smelled the Albacore. If I don't open it now she'll never forgive me. Wait, it seems to be working again! Yay! Wait...the motor is struggling again. Oh well. Let me just find my receipt and I'll return this POS. I can't find my receipt. I failed at consumerism. And this product failed at opening cans.
