Japanese Sekizo Sushi Chef Kitchen Santoku Knife #1716
Edgeware Santoku Straight Edge Ceramic Pull Thru Knife Sharpener
DO NOT PULL YOUR CERAMIC KNIVES THROUGH THIS!
It is effective on regular knives though. I have a Kershaw that I hadn't sharpened in years. It took a few pull thrus, but now it is just as sharp as it was when I got it. When shopping it is always a good idea to read the product details, so shop smart. Finally, I can get a good edge on all my Global knives. Nice to have a sharpener with the proper angle for those. I was surprised at the heft this sharpener is sturdy. The rubber footing and grip make it exceptionally comfortable to use. Still small enough to store easily and simple to see and control the way you're sharpening knives. Glad I bought it.

It's okay...looks good, it is lightweight, but it does not sharpen as well as I would have expected. I am already planning to buy a different one.Read Best Reviews of Edgeware Santoku Straight Edge Ceramic Pull Thru Knife Sharpener Here
That's the whole reason I bought it. I tried it with my ceramic chef's knife and the ceramic blade chipped in three places. I don't know if it was the knife or the sharpener, but there went one of my knives down the drain. Guess it's ok on my regular knives, but I would have purchased a different one for just regular knives.Want Edgeware Santoku Straight Edge Ceramic Pull Thru Knife Sharpener Discount?
While using the device isn't rocket science it would be helpful if instructions came with it as to which slot is which. Other than that it is quite easy to hold firmly which adds to the safety of use as well as the level of results.Unica Flatware Collection "Daniel" 24-Piece White-Handle, Vibro Finish Flatware Set plus Blue Organ

Great for radishes and small items where the accuracy and control of the reverse curve blade are required. Also dynamite for removing the lead seal on wine bottles. "Sharp as a Shun" should be part of the vernacular. I love this bird's beak and use it more than I had imagined I would.Read Best Reviews of Shun DM0715 Classic 2-1/2-Inch Bird's Beak Knife Here
The bird's beak knife is often overlooked. I've never seen one included in a knife block set. Yet it has great utility and some unique properties. It's great for taking the stem portion out of tomatoes, strawberries, etc. It's also great for cutting perfect supremes from citrus. It certainly won't replace a good paring knife for all tasks, but it's a great addition to the kitchen and I use mine often.Want Shun DM0715 Classic 2-1/2-Inch Bird's Beak Knife Discount?
This is as close to perfection as I have seen in a bird's-beak knife in more than three decades of professional and home cooking. It is wickedly sharp right out of the box. I mean sharp as a razor. If your knife skills are limited, be careful. The shape of the handle is Shun's idea of perfection and I must admit it works well, especially for a right-hander. The handle is longer than most, an advantage for both balance and control.Maintaining the edge of a curved blade like this takes a bit of skill. If you aren't entirely sure of yourself, ask a more experienced friend to show you how to do so. It would be a tragedy to damage the fine edge of this little work of art.
The downside? Like all Shun knives, it is insanely expensive. Still, you get what you pay for so go for it.
Global GSF-46 - 3 inch, 8cm Paring Knife
I'd describe the handles as being about the same width as a butter knife or letter opener. That is not to say it's bad, just thinner than expected. Smaller hands may especially like this feature. The pictures don't convey this aspect at all and as normal, most Global descriptions focus on how Global knives are different from other makers, rather than the attributes of a particular knife.
Since we just started using it I'm remaining open minded to the new handle style (compared to the relatively cylindric regular handles). After using it to peel a wide variety of fruits and vegetables I am getting used to the new style, and may very well end up liking it better this the larger handles of the competitors conventional knives.
Most importantly, the blade is sharp and holds an edge like all other forged Globals. I am confident I'll have no problems sharpening it with the Global ceramic rod.
Overall, great little knife that easily usurped several of our lower quality paring knives in one fell swoop. I look forward to many years of dependable service.Okay, it is small and you won't want to use it for big things. But, given what it was designed for, it does the job well.
I love this little knife. I've had it for years.

I find Global has the best product in this price point....I can see the reason that super chefs choose this brand! This knife fits the hand nicely and is easy to maneuver. Being one piece, there are no hard to clean nooks. Also, it's very sharp and holds its edge. Might be the perfect paring knife if it cost less.Dexter-Russell (S142-9SC-PCP) - 9" Utility Knife - Sani-Safe Series

I love these because they are fun, but they don't hold up forever. I have a tiki themed motorhome that i use these in. Since they just get occasional use they are fine. I had some that i used in the house for regular use and after a couple months the handles start to fall off. I won't use them in my kitchen any more for that reason, but as a novelty for camping trips i'd say they were worth the price and will buy more when the ones i have break.Read Best Reviews of Bellamo 26 piece bamboo look flatware set Here
I regret ordering these -we just got these a few weeks ago for outdoor eating, and four forks have snapped in half already. I cut my finger when one of them snapped in my hand while holding a piece of meat to cut. Unless you're just eating soft food, I don't recommend this product at all.Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch with Hand Grip, End Grain
My background, I'm a professional chef who uses this board at home.
First the bad:
-slightly warped. It's not bad enough to notice while cutting, and has not gotten worse since it arrived.
-odor. It has an odor to it. Some of that is from the garlic and onions I cut, but I've used wooden boards that don't smell as much as this one.
-heavy, large. Makes cleaning more difficult. I'm not knocking the score because of this, I expected it to be harder to handle.
The good:
-solid knife strikes. This board absorbs my knife strikes solidly.
-blade friendly. The main reason I wanted an end grain board was to prevent premature dulling of the blade. It has not disappointed.
-heavy. It doesn't move around the counter while cutting our kneading pasta dough.
I keep it oiled with the recommended oil and hand wash it with a small amount of soap and gentle scrub pad. I use the sprayer to rinse it and dry it right away.
My biggest complaint is the warping. It arrived that way and I was tempted to return it. I decided to keep it since I couldn't be sure a replacement wouldn't be worse. It doesn't move while cutting so it isn't too big of an issue. However, for the money, I expect it to be better quality.

There wasn't a 20 x 14 x 1.5 at amazon so I'm putting my review here. I went to the Proteak site to see if there was a board I would rather have since 2" and above thickness was too thick for me. I found it with this board. I like the thinner board, yet it is still thick. This is a gorgeous product. I imagine any board from Proteak is just as beautiful. If you love wood like I do, you will appreciate the variations in color...both light and dark. This is the only product that I found that has this natural coloring. It's truly beautiful and from all the reviews I read about Proteak, I would imagine it's a long lasting and quality cutting surface. You have to follow the directions for seasoning the board and treatment. If it's not seasoned correctly or treated the way the manufacture recommends, it can crack and deteriorate and lose it's beauty and function. Seasoning, from what I've read needs to be done as soon as you get it with mineral oil. 4-5 initial coats is recommended. This also brings out more beautiful luster. i just got the board so I will post another review after I've had a chance to use it and see how it holds up but I feel very good about it. The 20 x 14 size I believe is just right for my kitchen island. not too big but big enough to accomodate the cutting of more than one thing. The larger size would probably be the best if you use your board for alot of cutting, but the size does not fit into standard sink for rinsing and cleaning and this size does so that is why I got it. Plus it will stay on my island all the time and allows room for other things. Do your homework with choosing a board. They are not all created equal. Teak is very durable and attractive. I checked out all of the board sites I could including the John Boos and this got better reviews than Boos did all the way around. I don't want to have to buy another board for a long time so I hope this is as durable as everyone says. I will post an update after a few months to let you know how it is holding up.
Update: It's been a few months and the board is beautiful and stays on my island all the time. I oil it about once a week. You can tell when it's looking a little dry. Since it is a cutting board, you will have the wear of cutting marks, but you can't really tell that much with this board. Maybe after a few years, but so far I love everything about it.

Global GS-1 - 4 1/4 inch, 11cm Preparation Paring Knife
I have a selection of Global knives which I have collected over the years, after I asked a gourmet cook what kind he preferred. "Global" was his quick response.
Using the recommended sharpener, roughly three times a month, has kept them in excellent condition.
I love the design and they all look great on a magnetic rack attached to the wall in my kitchen.
When comparing price with other "fancy-schmancy" brands which I have bought in the past, and long since put them in the "spare" drawer, these have been the best overall deal. It's Global, so between the high quality steel and the 10 degree edge, it is ridiculously sharper than any other blade on the market. Definitely not for the amateur home cook, but if you have to prep several pounds of product, this is the tool you want to have. Works fantastically for everything from parting poultry to julienne veggies. Highly recommend this blade to anyone putting together a serious set of work knives.

I'll be honest; I ordered this knife because I liked the looks of it, so fortunately it cuts pretty well. If I get the handle wet, though, I find the knife a bit hard to hold, with a tendency to twist in my hand. I get around it by wrapping a bit of paper towel around the handle.Read Best Reviews of Global GS-1 - 4 1/4 inch, 11cm Preparation Paring Knife Here
I adore my global knife 4.5 inch GS-1 ("kitchen knife"?). So much so that we got a second one and am now thinking of them as christmas gifts because they are so wonderful. Definitely prefer the 4.5 inch to the 5.5 inch which we also purchased (it's much more comfortable and easier to handle). Can't recommend this knife highly enough, for the feel of it in the hand, excellent cutting, the ease of use, great weight, easy to clean etc.
People actually comment on it when they are visiting.

This is a perfect small/mid-size knife. It comes razor sharp out of the box and has no difficulty handling any task appropriate for its size. It came sharp enough to thinly slice the seed of an avocado, not that you would ever want to. It fits well in my medium/large hands. Peacock Flatware, Sold by the Dozen
The second order i placed was through a different company.
Never again !The Oneida stainless I received as a wedding present lasted us for a long time. Then, we moved to a place with caustic water, and it succumbed piece by piece to the minerals in the water.
I started looking for stainless that would be able to stand up to the water, and I found this Peacock flatware. I ordered spoons and forks, as those were what had been eaten up the most by the water.
I've moved several more times since, but recently realized that I had only 5 dinner knives left from my original dozen. Afraid that Peacock flatware was no longer made, I did a search. I was so happy to find it!
I received the knives. As you see in the picture, the peacock design is not imprinted as deeply into the knife handles, but that's alright. They are very nice knives.

Overall a great chefs knife. Love itHi
I've worked as a chef for 17 years and i tell ya, this is a great knife for the price.
Love my new knife. The shipping was fast and it came when they told me it would.
IT also came with a very easy to read instructions on how to use and, clean and maintain it, really helpful.
The only bad thing is that the handle was for a righty when it says it a chef knife. Chef knives are usually 50-50. it didn't say anything about that part. Im a lefty, but actually it doesn't bother me at all.
Ill prob get some more knives from these guys.

Can cut through anything like butter and has great balance, grip and weight. Very easy to clean and not slippery back of the blade when in contact to slippery stuff you're cutting.
