Axis 6805 Expandable Plastic Kitchen Drawer Dividers, with 5-Piece

Axis 6805 Expandable Plastic Kitchen Drawer Dividers, with 5-PieceJust received these, and they seem nice. However, they will not fit in our drawers. If you are considering purchasing, be warned that these will not work in drawers that are less than 17.5" deep. Very disappointed that there were no specs given in the item description. It would have been helpful to know in advance, as I now will have to return them and pay the shipping to send them back.

On a side note, on the actual box that came in the mail, it says that they will fit all drawers up to 21" deep this is obviously not correct. It will fit drawers between 17.5" and 21" deep.

I've been looking for a way to organize this kitchen drawer for a while. I have many odd shaped tools and wanted to maximize the space. This item worked just fine. Most drawer organizers don't give you enough options this one gives you quite a few options and really holds in place well! Some drawbacks it's plastic (so not very pretty) and they could have easily made a few more slots for even more options on orientation. But, overall, a good investment & really does the job well.

Works great, I was a bit concerned about the white plastic color vs a dark/mahogany color wood drawer, but it actually looks nice. There is no 'bonus set', the bonus is that it comes with the 3 small dividers. Nothing special about the $20 price on Amazon, that is what it costs at bed bad and beyond, and if you use the always available 20% discount, you can get it for $16.

I was skeptical about how this would look and act, being plastic, because I didn't want it to look cheap or hokey in my brand new remodeled kitchen. But these look great. I added a picture to show what I did with two of these kits in my wide junk drawer. The spring tension has not slipped around, and was easy to install. Haven't had to mess with it at all since putting them in a month ago. Pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

Arcos 6-Inch 150 mm 2900 Range Chef's Knife, Red

Arcos 6-Inch 150 mm 2900 Range Chef's Knife, RedI got this knife for my young son, who likes to help in the kitchen but isn't big enough to wield our 8" chef's knife yet. I have actually had trouble teaching him to use the rocking, slicing motion with it because it's so sharp it STICKS in the polyethylene cutting board. The handle is big and a little rough-textured, so the grip is good even if your hands are wet. The blade is thin without feeling at all flimsy, and wonderfully, wickedly sharp. My son occasionally catches me using it when he's not helping me and tells me not to use HIS knife.

Messermeister 10 Pocket Garnishing Roll, Black

Messermeister 10 Pocket Garnishing Roll, BlackNice and sturdy roll, however the pockets are a bit small. Barely could get some of the knife handles into the pockets. Or maybe the blade should be inserted into the pocket. When I tried that the tips of the knives protruded through the fabric. Makes it dangerous to insert and remove the tools because of the tight fit.

this was a good item and you sirvice and shipping was very good

Spode Porto 45-Piece Flatware Set

Spode Porto 45-Piece Flatware SetI was not blown away with the design, however, man guest for dinner one night recognized that the flatware matched the tableware (Spode Blue Italian). It must have made a bigger impression than I originally thought. I will use only when using the same dish pattern.

The pattern is so elegant, and kind of tropical. Reminds me of say, British Colonial in Africa or something. Very nice weight in hand. The knives and forks are long, but then these are the kind of utensils you eat of the tip of.

The set was complete, well packaged. One large fork was bent but easily straightened the tong; I did write Spode asking for a replacement but got no reply. Still they are packaged well.

They are shiny but not blinding and the back is kind of etched as well. A very elegant, slightly tropical look for a GREAT price!

So far, washed up easily with no spotting.

Wusthof Culinar Cheese Knife

Wusthof Culinar 2-1/2-Inch Parmesan Cheese KnifeI received this knife last christmas and immediately fell in love with it. It's heavy for it's size, feels great in your hand, and just looks really cool. It also cuts great. Cheddars and Swiss don't stand a chance, as well as peppers, boneless meats, tomatos, and anything you can think of that doesn't need a really stout, heavy blade. The holes in the blade make any meat or cheese just slide off as soon as the cut is made. It's just a quality piece of cutlery. Now if only you can get someone to buy one for you.....

I purchased this soft cheese knife 5 years ago. I love both how it looks and how it feels in my hand. I use it several times a year. It has remained sharp and still cuts well. The way it cuts soft cheese is a dream. The knife doesn't bunch up the cheese and have to be worked loose like other knives.

This cheese knife has held up well. It still looks great, good enough to put on a cheese tray for company. I've kept this knife in a drawer with the rest of my knives. I do wash it by hand, not in the dishwasher. Otherwise, I've taken no special care of it. I expect this knife to meet my needs for a very long time.

I've had similar experiences with any Wüsthof product that I have purchased.

OK so it is not the same as polishing a surface but it really works amazingly enough. I have a huge crystal bowl I am glad it is not expensive but it is pretty and useful. Recently I had some work done around my apartment and the person who did it put an unsightly chip that would certainly cut a person. I filed it smooth and since it is only about a half inch wide on a 14 inch bowl it barely shows. And this way the bowl still looks pretty. I keep fruit it and sometimes dry flowers. No one knows but me even though I've pointed it out.

My money was very well spent when I bought this. It's saved several glasses and mugs, and I'm sure I'll be able to rescue many more items in the future. Just be sure to use it very carefully. Anywhere that the wand accidentally touches will be scuffed! Also don't expect to have a polished finish; it will be a matt finish.

Kuhn Rikon Flexi 6-Inch Knife Spatula

Kuhn Rikon Flexi 6-Inch Knife Spatula, YellowSaw this initially in an email I received from Food Now and decided to look online for reviews. After reading nothing but good things, I decided to check out amazon to see if they carried it--and they did! Ordered it as a stocking stuffer for my husband, as he is an avid soup maker and is always complaining about knives not being sharp enough. He had also been looking around for a "scraper" and wasn't happy with the one he found at a earlier date. I could tell when he opened it that he was a bit sceptical about the functionality of the knife. He put it to the test a few days later when he had to chop up a package of carrots and celery. I'm happy to report that he was really amazed at how sharp the knife was and how quickly he was able to chop the vegetables. The scraping function worked well and he had the soup ready to cook in no time. Highly recommend!

This is a great multi-purpose knife! But the best thing about it is using it to chop and turning it around to use as a spatula! No more wearing down the blade.

I was very disappointed when I received this knife at first. It seemed used it has many small scratches all over the blade on both front and back sides. Moreover, it has some tiny unknown black rocky things stuck on the coating of the blade. I tried to remove one of them but ended up making more scratches, which made me wonder about the quality of the coating. I thought of returning it. ( By the way, their customer service seemed rather good because they tried to communicate with me and to understand whats going on in the first place.) However I did not return it in the end because later my wife found it perfect for cutting lettuces, onions, and some sorts of vegetables and we started to use it everyday. Even though the unknown black rocky thing still stays on the blade, it seems okay. Just that from time to time we have to check back on the thing to make sure it does not go into our food materials.

I love the entire line of Kuhn Rikon knives with nonstick coatings. And this knife is no exception. It is very thin, slices like a dream, and has the built-in spatula feature.

Because it is so thin, it's not great for hard vegetables (winter squash, large onions, etc.), but hey, it's not made for those anyhow. It's made to thinly slice cucumbers, tomatoes, small onions, and the like. You'll be amazed at how easily you can thinly slice food!

Slice 00124 Ceramic Blade Veggie Peeler, Green

Slice 00124 Ceramic Blade Veggie Peeler, GreenThis peeler works great. Blade is very sharp and makes peeling fast and easy. Very safe to use. I thought the handle would be too cumbersome as I have small hands, but it's fine. I like the fact that it stands on a shelf so it won't get out of my site and get thrown in the compost like my previous one.

You can use either hand: the blade can be popped out and reversed for lefties (thank you T. Scimone for pointing this out to me).

Love the ceramic blade (I also have a Kyocera Y peeler) which is very sharp. This one probably sacrifices ergonomics for design but since I don't peel 30 pounds of potatoes at a time, it's not that big a deal. Seams hardier than the Kyocera on which will probably break at any moment.

Lansky 4-rod Turn Box Crock Stick Sharpener (LCD5D)

Lansky 4-rod Turn Box Crock Stick SharpenerThe sharpener:

The sharpener contains four ceramic rods, a dark gray coarse pair and a white fine pair, which are stored conveniently in the wooden body (which is a nondescript, varnished hardwood of the type found in cheap folding furniture, for example.) In use, these rods would be inserted into two pairs of holes drilled into the wooden case. The holes serve to hold the rods at a particular angle, letting you create properly shaped, repeatable edges on your knives.

How to use it:

If you are starting with a dull blade, you start with the dark rods. You put them in the pair of holes that are spaced farther apart (as in the product photo.) Those holes are drilled at 20 degrees from vertical, which will create an edge that is very close to the proper shape, and make further sharpening go faster (I will explain that below.)

You hold the wooden body with a free hand down on a countertop or tabletop, then grip your knife in your other hand, edge down and pointing forward, and draw the knife edge against one of the rods downwards and backwards. You have to be careful to keep your other hand out of the path of the knife. You do a few strokes on one side, then switch to the other.

Since most knives have curved edges, you should ideally draw the handle up as you draw it back in a rocker motion, to keep the edge at a constant angle to the rods. With an 8" chef's knife, it wouldn't matter much, but with smaller knives with a deeper curve, it might be important, especially if you want the knife to be equally sharp from tip to heel.

After the edge has been shaped (if you have a magnifying glass, you can see when the "V" of the edge has flat sides that come to a point) and the knife doesn't seem to be getting sharper, you remove those gray rods and take out the white rods and insert them in the other pair of holes, and repeat the process. Those holes are closer and offset from each other, so that the two rods actually cross, so you can tell the two pairs of holes apart easily. Those holes are drilled at 25 degrees from vertical, i.e. the rods slant more. (That means the knife edge will form a 50 degree angle, which is a good compromise between sharpness and edge durability.) Because you formed the edge first with the coarse rods at 20 degrees, the white rods will contact the knife only at the exact edge, which is the only part that really matters. This allows sharpening to go faster.

This process is a little fussier. You do four strokes on a side for a while, then two strokes, then one, so you are alternating between one side and then the other. At those last stages you should use very little pressure. You will end up with a razor sharp knife.

After that, you should be able to go for quite a while with using only the white rods in the 25 degree holes to touch up the edge. Eventually though, you will have to start over with the gray rods in the 20 degree holes.

So what is good and bad about this sharpener?

The good:

The sharpener reliably produces sharp edges with the correct angles. That 25 degree angle is difficult to achieve with any consistency using most other sharpening systems, but this one makes it easy.

It is cheap. I have done a fair amount of research, and I believe this is probably the cheapest sharpening system that actually can produce edges at repeatable angles. There are other, more flexible systems (including one from Lansky) but they cost more. And there are cheaper systems (like a simple ceramic rod with a handle) that require you to eyeball the angle, which would almost certainly mean either a weak, inconsistent edge or lots of wasted effort, or both. Other systems offer only one set of rods, or only one angle.

The entire thing packs into a self-contained, convenient package. The rods go into holes drilled lengthwise in the wooden body, and an attached endpiece rotates to cover both holes. When it is packed up, it forms a little wooden brick. It is actually a pretty clever design.

The bad:

The entire thing is small, so there isn't much room to hold on to the body with your other hand. So it is relatively easy to cut yourself. Fancier and larger sharpeners of this type (like the Spyderco system) have some kind of hand guard. With this one you should take extra care to place all your fingers in a safe position. And you should proceed slowly, and in a well-lit area.

The rods are only five inches long, and only 4 1/2 inches of is usable when the rods are mounted. That means there is little space to draw the knife downwards, and you end up using a mostly horizontal motion, drawing the knife back towards yourself. Otherwise you will end up slicing into the wood body or hitting the other rod. This means that sharpening goes relatively slowly. I have been experimenting with drawing the knife up instead of down, while drawing it back. It is an odd motion, but it seems to work well.

The body is relatively slick and light, and has no rubber feet, so it can slide around on the countertop a little. So if you were particularly careful, you might want to set it on a piece of no-slide pad used under rugs (you can find similar stuff used as shelf liners or toolbox liners. It resembles a rubber-coated mesh.)

(This is a quibble.) The wood and the finish are just adequate, nothing special. Since I like doing this kind of thing, I sanded off the varnish and finished the entire thing, including all the holes, with tung oil (mixed 30% with mineral spirits.) The holes on top are a slightly tight fit for the rods, so I had to make sure to remove any extra oil from the holes which might keep the rods from fitting. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish, and it is much nicer, and probably more durable.

Lastly, like all sharpeners that use rods, it doesn't work well for super-hard steel like that found in some Japanese knives. The tiny contact point can actually make that steel fracture and chip. Those knives would do better with a large traditional whetstone, like a Japanese waterstone. (This sharpener also doesn't work with serrated knives, but most serrated knives, like those cheap flexible stainless steel knives, aren't intended to be sharpened anyway. The Spyderco system is one of the few that can handle serrated knives.)

Good luck!

Pros: Easy to use, works very well to hone blades, economical, compact, and stores easily.

Cons: ceramic sticks wobble, not 20 and 25 degree angles.

This is pretty simple to use and it works fine. However, mine has holes that are oversized and allow the ceramic rods to wobble a bit and the sharpening angles are closer to 22 and 28 degrees. It still works fine, but this is a bit annoying. If your knife is truly dull, this will gadget will take forever to sharpen the blade. Instead, use the Accusharp sharpener to sharpen and use this to hone the blade to hair cutting sharp and keep them there.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 11-Piece Knife Set with Block

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 11-Piece Knife Set with BlockThese knives are amazing--everything I hoped for. All the knives you need, nice weight, VERY sharp, sleek looking.

My only complaint has to do with the knife block, which is not customized for the knife set. The knives all fit in the knife-block slots, but they fit loosely and sit at odd angles. Also, the knife block only has 6 slots for steak knives. This was a problem when I bought the matching steak knives, because they are sold in sets of 4, so you either have 2 too few or 2 too many for the number of slots. A small thing with such a good set of knives, but I will be buying another Henckels knife block.

I've been meaning to update my kitchen knives for many years. Finally, thanks to those nice people at Ideara, I had enough gift vouchers to buy this set. I've only had them for a few weeks but love them. First, they are sharp I know volunteer to do the vegetables and other prep in the kitchen. from amazon's own descriptions stated "Also includes kitchen shears, 9-inch sharpening steel, and hardwood block with slots for steak knives"

as soon as I opened the box, I noticed something wrong. the block is made of bamboo and in thin, loose plastic bag with a knot loosely tight. the bag has the "made in china" sticker. Amazon just lied to me to see this product. I don't even want to guess if these knives are actually made in Germany. the knives box was prepared in a sloppy manner. the lid of the box not even close proper. for $499 knives set, I think I have the right to expect better quality. I am suspecting the knives are made in china as well. this whole order is going back to Amazon.

I am speaking with Amazon customer service representative and this product is sold by a vendor (third party) not Amazon. it sold through a Amazon. This looks like something someone bought and used and didn't like. they re-packed and resold as new product through Amazon to trick buyers to think this is a new product. this ia biggest false advertising so buyers beware.
