This knife is really sharp, and it has kept it's edge even after a lot of use. I really love Zyliss knives, and this one is great for big jobs, like cutting cabbages.Read Best Reviews of Zyliss Carving Knife, 8-Inch Here
I was looking for something half its size. I have to keep it. I can't return something that's had no defect.I will use it some day. I will keep ordering till I find the perfect every day knifeI bought this for my daughter who's lacking in the art of cooking. It's sharp and the case is good protection as she has a habit of storing knives in a very unorganized drawer. The only drawback is that the case was a little tight so one needs to slide the knife in and out a few times to make it work smoothly. For someone who uses expensive knives and sharpens them regularly this knife might feel cheap and unblalanced but it comes in handy in a pinch and works very well. Slicing tomatoes is the test of a sharp knife and it passed the test.

The good news is the steel holds an edge well, does not rust like many cheap knives do, and the molded handles are food safe, meaning no crevices or rivets to catch bits of food. This is the style of handle used on knives the pro chefs use, for sanitary reasons. This set is a nice wedding gift, has everything and then some, and I think it's a good deal for an experienced chef too.
In practice, though, for prep you won't need all of these. It's great having them once in a while, but you can get by with only three. You'll need a good paring knife, a good 8" chef's knife, and a bread knife that covers almost everything. I put stars in the list below by those knives. I know this huge assortment looks better as a gift, but if you have to limit yourself, you can downsize to just a few.
The set contains these 23 pieces:
2 1/4" peeling knife
3" flat cut paring knife
3" spear point paring knife *
3" clip point paring knife
4 1/2" utility knife
5" brunch knife
8" bread knife *
8" cook's knife *
(8) 4 1/2" steak knives
8" slicing knife
6" kitchen fork
5" boning knife
6" cook's knife
9" steel
kitchen shears

At first I was very impressed with this set. They were very pretty. I have had them about 2 months now. Even though I hand washed them like the directions said and I didn't put them in the dishwasher, the copper plated accents have peeled off! As far as function they work OK but they should hold up better than that. I will save up and buy a fancier set next time. If you want something that will hold up, Don't get this set.Read Best Reviews of Paula Deen Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set, Butter Here

I received a set of 2 skillets from my son for Christmas so I decided to buy the entire set to replace my very well used set of T-fal cookware. I normally won't consider the purchase of cookware that is not dishwasher safe, but this set is easily cleaned with soapy water. I like the ceramic coating on the outside of the pans and the yellow colors are very attractive. This cookware is lighter than some I have had in the past and I have found they tend to slide on the cooking surface. One skillet has a chip in the ceramic coating and I am concerned this can be a problem with the set in the future. The set includes a very nice chicken fryer and a small sauce pan that is perfect for a can of vegtables or a can of soup. I like the rubber coated handles and the clear glass lids. I do recommend this set, expecially at this price.Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 10-Inch Sharpening Steel
However, the product arrived and appeared to be well made (I'm a bit obsessive about trivial details, and I do prefer walnut over plastic), and it sharpened my generic kitchen knife (no fancy japanese hardened steel knives here) with just a few swipes. It is also quite long enough for my knives without being too long and unwieldy. For my knife it appeared to take off some metal as some fine shards did show, and after longer use there was a thin coat of grey powder in its grooves (that can be cleaned off easily).
The walnut handle/guard has a reasonably good grip. It seems to do the job quick and well without making a fuss. It is also fairly hefty and feels right with the sharpening motion. It is a no-nonsense tool that has a very reasonable price. I'm very happy with it.This is a grooved, rather than a straight steel. This means it is taking significant portions of metal off your edge with each pass (that's the job of a sharpening tool, not a honing tool!). The grooves risk significant damage to your blade. The grooving is sort of apparent from the photo, but it should be made more explicit. Consider yourself forewarned!

Does the job as advertised. The wood handle could be a bit longer. As it is, suits smaller hands well. Sharpens fine knives easily. The grind on the steel seems just right.Read Best Reviews of Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 10-Inch Sharpening Steel Here
Great Product. Does a goo job sharpening straight (not serrated knives). Easy to use.Want Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 10-Inch Sharpening Steel Discount?
I've had my CC steel for some 15 years now; it does a very nice job of keeping a sharp edge on my knives I use it before every time I cut tomatoes, and about weekly otherwise. Main knife at this point is a Pure Komachi vegetable knife the two work fantastically well together. Now, this steel DOES take some metal off but I am just plain happy not to have to break out a stone to maintain edges..!T-fal Signature Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set
Strong Points: Great coating, the food literally slides off with little effort. Inclusion of a couple tools is a nice touch (though not sure it's worth paying more for, as the tools probably retail for a dollar or two). Heating distribution is even, and so it cooks effectively.
Weak Points: Small. It's hard at times to convert 8" pot into a visual, especially when the pictures show things that look bigger. A few of the pans are suitable for children, but not big enough to cook something for a single adult.
Overall, the product appears well made, but I would go to a more expensive set with a larger selection of pots and pans if I was going to use these as my primary cooking utensils.I am very pleased with my cookware. The quality is great and the price was right. Easy to clean up after use.

of this set. I was also very pleased to discover that this flatware is 18/10 stainless steel...not 18/0. The smooth clean lines are modern and pleasing to the eye, and the embossed card symbols on the handles add such a unique touch. You don't have to be a card player (I'm not) to enjoy this handsome-looking set.
When the package arrived and I was finally able to inspect each knife, fork and spoon, I found that every piece is well-crafted, beautifully balanced and heavy-duty. Oh, and did I mention how elegant they look on my table? I couldn't be happier with this flatware! In fact, it is probably one of the best purchases I've made online in a while, and at this price, you really can't go wrong. I even ordered an extra set to have for company...especially

Totally Bamboo Cutlery Tray

The tray is great, but the large size is listed as being 17" long. It is NOT. It is 18" long. My cutlery drawer is 17" so this was going to fit perfectly I thought. Then it arrived at actually 18" long and was immediately packed up for return. Amazon needs to fix the description of this item.Good size organizer that is well made and attractive. Looks good in the drawer. Better than the adjustable organizers as it takes up less room. These trays looked nice on paper, but were not the quality one would expect. One of the trays I received was broken after assembly, leaving sharp and exposed edges. Both of the two trays I received are poorly assembled, using ill-fitting pieces that flop around because they are too short to fit properly. This may be OK if you're hiding them in a drawer, but they are not suitable for use at the table, as suggested by the maker. I'm very disappointed by the poor quality. These items were NOT damaged in shipping, they were shipped in damaged, poorly assembled condition. The only reason I haven't returned them is because it would very inconveniently delay a home improvement project I'm working on.Wusthof Knife Block Set, Classic #8832
Mercer Millenia M22003 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife
We searched for one that fit our needs for a long time. Bought and tried several brands before hitting on the Mercer Millenia M22003 3-1/2-inch Paring Knife. This one finally made the grade. Everything about it is right; blade length and width, handle size is perfect and the quality of the knife itself promises years of good service. The blade is extremely sharp and is hollow ground which gives it the ability to suffer many sharpenings if necessary. Mercer makes long lasting and quality products.
I definitely find it easy to give this knife (5) stars and highly recommend it.I love this knife. The grip is ultra-comfortable, and it sharpens well. I'm willing to pay a couple hundred for a chef's knife, but for a paring knife, I doubt you that you can do much better than this.
Kyocera 5-1/2-Inch Santoku Knife and Adjustable Slicer Set
The mandolin is adjustable for cut thickness through a four-sided bar on the back, I believe the thickest slice is up to 3 mm which has been a very good thickness for what I've been using it for.
I would strongly suggest NOT using the included guard/guide for your own safety. Buy yourself a cut-resistant glove or two instead, such as http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=cut-resistant+glove&x=0&y=0&sprefix=cut-resistant+glove, this is a trick that I picked up from watching Good Eats and I heartily recommend it. I bought one when I bought my mandolin, and having the ability to properly and securely grip the item being sliced is a big bonus. However, the one that I bought is kind of disappointing, and after two uses, has already worn through in three places and will have to be replaced soon. It's a Microplane glove, I'm not sure which model, but I'll be trying a different brand.
I have no comment on the knife as the store from which I bought it sold the mandolin by itself. This knife is wonderful. The slicer, I'm still not sure how to adjust it, but it makes a fairly good slice. Maybe I need to look on the internet to get some help with that. I love that they will resharpen the knives if you send them in later. Just be careful not to drop as I've heard they can break.

I love these ceramic knives. I've been using them for nearly 20 years and just love the way the blade holds an edge, as long as you avoid chipping it. I was a little leery of the slicer due to reviews, but if used properly the mandolin slicer is a dream especially if enjoy whipping out some potato chips with the kids once in a while. No brute force is required, in fact, if you push too hard it will flex the deck of the slicer and jam it up on the return. Ideally, a light touch is all you need and don't push your luck trying to get that last slice. I do use flimsy holder handle if I can find it for the last several runs. It's not worth the cut!Read Best Reviews of Kyocera 5-1/2-Inch Santoku Knife and Adjustable Slicer Set Here
I mostly bought this to replace my knife. I had the same knife for over 1 year (different color) that I broke. I was cutting open an uncooked acorn squash and the knife got stuck near the stem. I tried to removed it... and it was when I carelessly started to pry the knife out that the knife broke. Anyway, that was really my fault. The good thing is that, despite breaking, I replaced the knife with the same knife. I love this knife. It is indeed very sharp, which means I pay attention while using it. I watch my fingers! I used my old knife exclusively for over 1 year and never sharpened it. This new one is of the same quality. I expect it to continue my love affair with this knife (really, it makes chopping fun). The knife gets 5 stars, but....
The adjustable slicer was very underwhelming. The plastic frame seems very flimsy, even though the blade is sharp. The adjustment mechanism is a plastic cube that you rotate. I do not have much confidence in that either. I have only sliced carrots successfully with it. I tried with raw beets, but then gave up and sliced them with the knife instead.
Anyway, this set cost less than what I paid for the knife alone, so I am not griping at all. My recommendation is to just buy the knife alone on Amazon... and if you need a slicer, go with a Japanese Slicer instead. They are built better.
Want Kyocera 5-1/2-Inch Santoku Knife and Adjustable Slicer Set Discount?
The slicer is the best part of this. Also note that it is not the double edge one as shown in the video. Only their non adjustable ones are double edge. Still the slicer goes through veggies like crazy always smooth cuts just be careful not to run them down to fast and cut yourself. I have not yet but it may happen in the future if im not careful. The knife is good. It is sharp enough to shave hair off my arm. Its very light but solid feeling. Very easy to clean with just soap and water. Make sure you don't put this in a sink with the rest of the dishes it may get broken against plates or cups. Also you might get cut pretty badly if you just brush up against it. I will update this when the blade starts to get dull whenever that may be.
UPDATE. Chipped the slicer blade had it less than 24 hours. Chipped it with the handguard. Hopefully the small very sharp piece is in the plastic and not in my food.
