Mundial 5100 Series Red 6-inch Light Cleaver

I've had this cleaver for about 2 years now and the end came yesterday. A good whack onto a porkchop snapped it right off at the handle. The blade is not as sharp as it should be but then again, I bring this blade out strictly for the purpose of breaking bones and use it with authority. Look somewhere else for a cleaver with a little more heft.

This small cleaver makes short work of a cabbage or a pineapple as well as a chicken or a rack of ribs. It has a satisfying heft, and it cuts what I aim for, cleanly and quickly. I will admit, though, that if I had realized that I could get a similar at a much lower price elsewhere, I would not have treated myself to this one.

The stainless-steel blade and the attractive red handle are dishwasher safe, and that is a big plus. As time goes on, I may congratulate myself on acquiring a tool that lasts well and keeps an edge without requiring a lot of tedious maintenance. A favorite kitchen tool grows on me. This one has made a fine first impression, and for the rest, time will tell!
