Arcos Maitre 6-Inch Utility Knife

This knife is excellent for its price range. Even if there are better knives for this kind of money out there, it would take you much more time and effort to find them than is worth it. For $12 this is a decent allaround knife. Why only "decent"? Read ahead.

First, the steel of the blade is not so great, it cannot be sharpened too well because of the large grain and its relatively soft. Also it means that it will have to be resharpened more often.

The design of the blade is not perfect eitherthe straight part is too short and its too thick, therefore when using it on vegetables such as potatoes, it does not perform perfectly. It still is much better than any cheapo knife, just bear in mind that you will have to slice rather than cut.

However, all of this is nitpicking. The bottom line is that this is a fantastic knife for this kind of money and with a bit of care, it will serve you for many years to come.
