Alton Brown refuses to buy any kitchen instrument with only one purpose, and this one has 2 very nice ones for me. I have it hanging on my kitchen wall to bring a nice little ambiance of modern art to the place and it does work relatively well for cutting cake. I've so far bought one for myself and given 3 as gifts.
