This is the perfect silverware set. I looked at several different sets and this one won out. It has slender but balanced handles so 2 sets fit nicely in my silverware drawer.
This is the first one star review I've written. I was so excited to buy new flatware. Reed and Barton is a well known brand. We still have the hammered antique 18/8 from 20 years ago when we got married and I still love it so I thought I could trust the brand. I wanted an every day set and thought this was nice and the price was great. I didn't expect the quality of the more expensive end of the line and I don't have a problem with the lighter weight. Opening the box I thought that the tines of the forks looked pretty delicate but that didn't bother me so much. I washed them all at once before using them and as I gathered a small bunch to rinse, I got a fairly deep slash on my finger! It was not from the knife so it could only be from a fork. Examining the forks more closely (and I did not check each fork but checked a bunch) I ran my fingers along the tines at different angles and found they have a sharp edge that can catch skin. What? A fork that you put in your mouth that has parts that cut? That is unacceptable by any standards. I was so looking forward to having this set but this flaw is too disappointing. Of course I can not recommend this line. In fact, unfortunately, the opposite. I recommend that you look for something else.
Edit: I want to note that I wrote Reed and Barton and their response was very fast and helpful. I'll edit this review when safe forks replace the cutting forks.
Edit 2: The company could not replace the forks and I was asked to pick a new pattern. I chose to upgrade to a heavier pattern and we love it. Kudos to Reed and Barton for standing behind their product. I still give this set a low rating but R & B gets five stars.
