Mountain Woods Adjustable Fiddle Bow Knife Oak (Right Handed)

Mountain Woods Adjustable Fiddle Bow Knife OakI have had one of these for nearly 10 years, and it works beautifully. I don't understand the other reviewer who said it tore up the bread, except to say that just baked loaves of bread hot (or warm) from the oven do not slice well. Experienced bread bakers all know this. Always let loaf bread cool off completely for the best slicing. Then you can always re-warm it. If you want something hot from the oven, make rolls or biscuits, something you don't slice!

It does exactly what I need and It also excedes my expectations. I can slice everything the exact thickness I need.

I just can't understand the negative reviews on this product; I have had mine for 9 years now and have NEVER had a problem with it. In fact, I came across these reviews because I am looking for one to give as a gift. I presume the negative reviewers must not be using this tool correctly; let bread cool completely and lightly saw back and forth --no force is needed, even in thick breads with raisins and nuts. That is unless the company changed the blade in favor of a cheaper version, but I doubt it.

Moutain woods adjustable fiddle bow knife seems to be constructed quite well but they have included a blade which is way to flexible and bends while slicing causing the slice your cutting to be alot wider in the centre of the cut.

This knife was terrible. All it did was tear up the bread. I made a very heavy bread and it would not cut at all. It just got jammed up and ripped up the bread.
