Kuhn Rikon Colori Art Chef's and Paring Knife, Black Damask

Kuhn Rikon Colori Art Chef's and Paring Knife, Black DamaskGreat print, great quality. These knives cut better than my roommate's santoku knives. They are also cuter than hers and they cost less. She is totally jealous and that alone makes it worth the price!

I had some crummy Ikea bachelor knives(the cheapest set they had) which I used before, which were great for someone who never cooked beyond slicing cellophane on Trader Joe's microwave dinners every so often.

When I had my girlfriend over to make some Omurice and she got visibly and vocally frustrated by her attempts to use these knives for anything useful, I knew something had to give.

This purchase cured that problem. They are razor sharp and easy to use. I think the nonstick coating on the side combined with their sharpness makes these much safer to handle since you will be touching the blade much less often when slicing veggies than a normal knife since it will usually take only one stroke to cut and you won't need to push the pieces apart after cutting.

If I had any complaints, it is that the handles to these seem really cheap compared to the blades, and sort of have that "micro-scratched" glossy ABS look to them. This does result in the knives being a bit poorly balanced.

I could have done without the pattern artwork. It looks nice but I normally prefer clean designs. But this was a good deal for two knives I needed, so I'm not complaining.

I was pleased when I received the knife set, the print looks great and has held up well. (I'm not worried that the print will 'flake' off or anything.) The knives themselves are sharp and cut well. Great product, I'm ordering another one as a gift!
