WMF Manaos / Bistro Table Spoon, Set of 4

After looking at a few different spoon sets to get replacements for our regular spoons that have gone missing, I inadvertently ordered these, rather than the teaspoons. These were larger than I wanted they are what most people would call soup spoons. Details for those interested: Cromargan 18/10 stainless steel. Design WMF Atelier. Size: Total length 7 3/8", spoon head 2 3/8" x 1 1/2". Made in Vietnam. The pasta spoon/fork I ordered from WMF via Amazon at the same time was made in China. Packagin is twisties onto a cardboard backing slipped into a plastic bag; arthritic fingers may need help; most people will find them easy to unpack.

I bought these same spoons a year ago and couldn't have been happier with them. They were excellent quality, heavy and smooth and perfect. The set I just received are lighter and thinner. I weighed them because I was curious to see how much they differ. The old version weight 56 grams, the new weighed 40 grams. I couldn't be more displeased and disappointed. The only thing that they have in common in a similar shape. One of the new ones even had a huge patch of rough metal on the face of the spoon area. I should have bought two sets last year, before they started cutting corners.

I am very pleased that I purchased WMF Bistro forks, knives , spoons and teaspoons. Excellent quality, no need to dry them with a towel after the dishwasher. Very very shiny, with a clean design (the incrustations on the surface of some other expensive silverware make it so difficult to maintain it clean and good looking). WMF is an old company with a great reputation and I've always been pleased with the high quality of their products. The knives have printed WMF logo (with no taika or china). Also this Bistro edition silverware is much cheaper than any other WMF silverware set. I will definately get esspresso an desert sets.

For those of you, who are not familiar with WMF, WMF is a German company. The company is known for its quality and "Made in Germany" manufacturing. Unfortunately, WMF is manufacturing overseas now (majority of the products). I was a little worried about that when I purchased the entire Bistro line for twelve plus assessories. I have used the products now for about six months and I have to say that I do not notice a difference in quality (German production vs. overseas production). One thing to notice is that I wash all of my WMF products by hand. I have never put any of them in the dishwasher so I don't know how they hold up when washed in the dishwasher. I highly recommend the Bistro line by WMF.
