KitchenAid 4 Piece Gourmet Chef's Ceramic Knife Set with Blade Covers (Red)

KitchenAid 4 Piece Gourmet Chef's Ceramic Knife Set with Blade CoversDO NOT let those pics sway you from purchasing these or any ceramic knives because those were obviously handled carelessly. The statement "They keep breaking" is ridiculous since they can't just break for no reason. However they do require special care since they are ceramic as does fine china. They CANNOT go into a dishwasher or be just tossed into a drawer with other knives or utensils and they are NOT for chopping, prying or cutting anything with bones or pits, so just use your metal knives for those tasks. Ceramic knives are great for slicing most soft skinned veggies, fish and boneless meats. They certainly do not replace metal knives, but used and cared for properly will do a great job for many years. I own several of them and have never had any problems with any of them. Hopefully this helps some people understand if they are right or not for their kitchen. Happy cooking!

I've only had this set for 2 weeks so I can't speak for its durability but they have been decent so far. I've mainly used them to cut fruits and veggies and have had no issues. The blades are slim, sharp and light-weight. I also like the fact that blade covers are included. Because of the white blades I find myself treating them like a plastic lettuce knife. They are in fact very sharp, so be careful!

I usually use a Victorinox which I like to keep razor sharp. I treat this ceramic knife like glass and it is breeze to use. My wife especially loves the peeler because it is a joy compared to the stainless steel. It can also peel your hand if you are careless. Awesome knives if you know how to use them. They are great for cutting fruits, veggies, and poultry. These knives will slice through a sweet potato very easily. Keep in mind they do have their limits (slice garlic cloves with them, do not crush, that leads to a knife in two pieces).

I picked up a couple of these Kitchenaid ceramic knives at a liquidation store -new in package. They cannot stand up to the slightest amount of torque. The blade of the largest knife snapped on the second use, when I was cutting pot roast and twisted my wrist a bit. There's a reason knives have been made of metal for thousands of years, folks.
