Snap-On 5120 Carbide Knife Sharpener

Snap-On 5120 Carbide Knife SharpenerI am real happy with this little tool at first I did'nt think it would work, but it works great!! Puts a nice edge on my buck and I can keep it in my pocket if i want and the price was right.

I have usually used a wetstone to sharpen knives, but I tested this little unit with my backup kitchen knife cutco with tons on nicks from my eariler kitchen days. It took about 10 strokes, medium force, to get those out, but afterwards look out! sharper than stock, with a system you can't mess up (real stone sharpening is more accurate and pulls off less metal, but is easy to mess up). Great device for a kitchen knife, pocket knife, etc.

I purchased the Snap-On sharpener in July of 2011 but had never used it until August 23, 2012. I have all the usual stuff to sharpen my knives at home; Arkansas whet stones, Chicago steel with wood handle, Ceramic rods, and even other sharpeners similar to this. But I really wanted something that would be light, dependable, and easy to use for my bug-out bag. I took a chance and bought this. I was setting on the couch and watching the ball game and just decided to take several of my hunting knives out and touch them up a little. I pull each knife across the sharpener a couple of times, lightly, and they came out razor sharp. I hear this term used a lot and I usually have my doubts but in this case it was true. I could not be pleased more. This is one item that I actually would recommend for others to purchase: reasonably inexpensive, appears to be fairly sturdy, easy to use, and actually works. I am buying another to keep in my vehicle.
