I bought this cleaver mainly for halving chicken breasts. It's well suited to the task. The size and weight are good and the handle is comfortable. It's all business and no frills. If I hacked chickens for a living I would prefer a little heavier blade. But it's heavier than the cleavers found in the home stores costing three times as much. So it's a good affordable choice for a home chef. It will save your high priced boning and carving knives from getting bent or broken trying to cut through chicken breast bone.
