Had purchased the smaller Santoku and the Nakiri without handles from WoodCraft and made my own out of some Bubinga I had on hand. Bought this one for myself and another small Santoku and Nakiri for Christmas gifts. All had handles. Instructions say it's ok to sharpen with with a steel, but I would only use water stones on Damascus style knives.These are great value.
