Zyliss Apple and Potato Cutter with 2 Stainless Steel Cutting Inserts

I thought Zyliss was a great company 10 years ago but now it seems they are cost cutting. I own several new Zyliss products and they are all breaking. I won't buy another. This apple slicer didn't even make it past the first apple without bending a centering tang, and does NOT stack together for storage as advertised since the pieces are not round (but should be). The reason I bought it was to have a complete cut down into a soft bed ... this so called soft bed was very hard and didn't cut through. I sent it back. Amazon made it painless to return this ... but ... I don't recommend going through the drill to buy it and return it. And you WILL return it !

Cores apples perfectly but don't expect to make french fries unless you have very strong hands.

The reinforced plastic sounded like it would hold up to cutting potatoes and apples, but it seems so flimsy that I wasn't able to put enough pressure on the Cutter to actually make it all the way thru either one. After only having this a couple of weeks, determined it took too much effort to use this and decided on a different cutter that actually locks to the counter top. I would recommend looking at another device to make your fries and apple slices with.

The slicer works great! It can be a bit tricky getting the cutting inserts out of the handle the first few times, but once you get the hang of it, it's fine. The only thing I don't love is the base. It looks nifty, but if you don't cut straight down (and since most apples aren't perfectly spherical, you often find yourself applying force at an angle to get the core) it tends to tilt up. I just put the base away and got out my trusty cutting board. No more problem. The potato cutter works well, though the ends of the potato sticks in the cutter. Just poke them out with the provided tool (NOT your fingers, this is sharp!) and you have french fries!

A very bad product, hard to use, harder to clean.

Everything got stuck in the little squares!

I still had to 'core' the apples.

French fries? Maybe your husband could push them thru, I couldn't.
