I have a large hand and this fits my hand well. The shape is comfortable and the feel is sturdy, not heavy. Many of the plastic peelers out there have a plastic arch over the peeling blade which both blocks the view of the blade and tends to catch up the peels; that doesn't happen with this peeler. The sight-line is clear. The tip of the peeler is strong and sharp enough to do pinpoint removals of bad bits of potato. I normally tend, when peeling potatoes, to pull the peeler toward me, but with this peeler I tried the opposite, slicing away from me. Peeling potatoes and carrots went extremely fast that way. What I also liked was that the peels were thin, not a lot of vegetable was wasted when peeling; some of those other peelers I tried out made way too thick peel slices and I could hear the voice of my grandmother in my mind chiding me for wasting food lol.
So I would say, if you need a vegetable peeler BUY THIS ONE!
If you already have a vegetable peeler BUY THIS ONE!
Any device that removes the "chore" aspect of peeling 10 pounds of potatoes at one sitting is a device worth owning. =)My opinion, because I personally prefer the larger Deluxe size and I use a dishwasher: Three stars for the regular size aluminum version; down one for aluminum handle and one for regular size. Four stars for black handle, regular size. I rate the black handled Deluxe version as five stars. In spite of variable star rating, for various Rada peelers, the unobstructed high quality blade is superb. Read on.
The Amazon descriptions for the great (see other reviews) Rada vegetable peelers sometimes lack key information which, from the radacutlery dot com site, products page, is as follows. Pay attention to the model numbers; assume a smaller size if model number is not listed.
There are TWO peelers:
The Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R132 / W232) is blade 1 3/4", overall 7 1/4".
The Deluxe Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R141 / W241) is blade 2", overall 8 3/8". Note longer blade & handle.
There are TWO handles, one aluminum and one black dishwasher safe. This explains some of the differences in price between listings and some reviewer comments. In reviews, pay attention to the "This review is from:" line, because Amazon groups reviews, not making distinctions between aluminum handle and black handle reviews.
To make comparisons of all the peelers, search within Amazon for, simply, Rada Peeler. That gives you the aluminum peelers with the option to click on black handled version. But, if you click on black handle option you cannot review the item. If, however, you search "Rada peeler black" you can then review the black handled version. I now have only black handled Radas.
If you have a dishwasher AND plan on cleaning your peeler in it, I'd stay away from the nice looking but impractical aluminum handle models, because aluminum reacts with dishwasher detergents, causing it to turn color and over time to look horrible (my opinion) compared to an original finish. If you hand wash the aluminum handled peeler (or knives), no problem. Other reviewers have mentioned the color change. My comments on aluminum and dishwashers is not based on the Rada product specifically; they are based on long, long experience with many different aluminum products in dishwashers.
I wish Rada would make an all stainless handle, but the black dishwasher safe handle models are quite fine. Buy two, one to give to a relative or friend; you'll like it enough to share it.
If you are considering getting some (highly rated) Rada knives, be sure to go to the products page of the company website to get the blade size dimensions which are not given for many knives listed via Amazon, yet which is key info for online purchasing, so you can compare to your knives currently in counter-top holders or your drawers. Buy black dishwasher safe handles!

The Rada peeler's handle turned out to be a bit longer and thicker than I expected. I'm happy with it though it has a really nice weight to it (without being heavy). I love the brushed aluminum handle. Very nice matte finish. When I peeled the first carrot with it wow. Super sharp. It glides over the surface of the vegetable, lifting the peel (no snagging like some inexpensive peelers) and feeling awesomely effortless. You don't have to press you barely move your hand along and the thing glides!
Safety tip, from me and my thumb: you'll want to make sure to put your peeler in the dish rack pointy side down. I reached for a fork, didn't see the peeler, and it got me good.

This is the best vegetable peeler I have ever had. The super-sharp dual blade takes off just the right thickness of skin or peel. The other peelers I have had before were (1) a cheap-o supermarket peeler that had a pretty dull blade and that I (fortuitously?) lost, and (2) an OXO-brand peeler that I bought to replace it and that cuts too deeply ino the vegetable. This Rada peeler feels good in the hand, peels assuredly and precisely, and costs no more than the big brands. Rada also makes the peeler in a plastic-handle, machine-washable version, but I chose this version because I like the look and feel of the brushed-aluminum handle, just like the handles on all my Rada knives.Want Rada Cutlery Deluxe Vegetable Peeler, Made in USA Discount?
I owned a Rada in the past and lost it. Thinking all vegetable peelers were basically the same, I bought another brand, then another and then another, none of which worked as well as the Rada. Others remove far too much of the vegetable or are rough and dull and difficult to use. Well worth it!
