I am about to purchase my second Kuhn Rikon Pineapple Knife. I grow pineapples in hawaii and sell them at our fruit stand, cutting pineapple all day ,,, this knife has made my job a pleasure! The sheath is essential since this knife is very sharp! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
I often cut fresh pineapple. After years of using a similar size bread knife with a similar coating, I splurged on this. The pineapple knife provides a noticeable improvement over the bread knife. The pineapple knife is stiffer than the bread knife, especially at the far end of the blade. The stiffness makes it easier to control, and reduces the risk of slipping suddenly after putting too much pressure on the handle side of the blade, for example, when splitting the pineapple in half lengthwise. It is easier to cut off he top and bottom of the pineapple as well. The knife is also very nice looking. I keep it in the case to reduce the risk of cutting myself when I reach into the knife drawer.
