Stelton Pure Black Chef's Knife, large

While this product was fantastic looking out of the box, it only kept its edge for a short while before it needed to be continually honed and then sharpened.

Also, while it looked great to start, after a short while, the black coating starting scaping away. I never use a dishwasher on nice knives and this shouldn't happen from hand washing.

A real shame because I expect Stelton quality to be better.

I have bought and used number of great knives over the years and have some trusty faithfuls and I think this one will be added to that list. It is heavy and well balanced and cuts beautifully (it came fairly sharp out of the box, but after a quick hone is now razor). The black coating looks great, not really sure it serves any particular purpose in terms of grip or cleanability, but hey, it stands out in the rack!

Imusa 8 Inch Chef Knife

There were 2 reviews for this knife before, one of them mine. Now they're gone. So here I go again.

This is a great bargain. I bought it with zero expectations. The intention was to use it purely as a camp knife, something that I wouldn't mind throwing away if it got too rusty or banged up on the trail.

I couldn't be happier. It was relatively sharp from the factory. Not quite tomato-shaving sharp, but sharp enough for most kitchen duties. The blade is rigid enough and the steel is fair. It holds up to sharpening well. After a little grinding, this knife is quite sharp!

The handle is very basic and pretty small. It's like a steak knife handle; perfect for little hands. There was no thought put into the ergonomics: 2 wood planks riveted to the tang. It's easily the least comfortable handle in my entire kitchen, but it's still acceptable.

Bottom Line: For camp duty, this is a home-run. For home use, it's just fair.

I got three of them. They are well made and the price is great. I use them all the time and only hand clean them. I don't soak them in water or soap. I just wipe them clean. They come sharp enough for me. So far they have easily cut through any job.

I received this machine for Christmas and I have used it everyday since I received it. I love the preprogrammed settings. I mainly use the smoothie setting and the soup setting. You put your ingredients in the blender and walk away. I love how smooth the smothines are. I have made smoothies with flax seed, strawberries, blueberries, kiwis and other fruit that I thought there would be problems the seeds and there are no problems. If you still see the seeds, just run it a couple seconds longer. The soups are amazing. I love the squash soup recipe in the cookbook and have even substituted sweets potatoes for the squash. The other recipes to try are broccoli soup, tortilla soup.

To speed myself up in the morning, I get everything ready and set out the night before. cutting board and knife are if I will need it. I earlier wrote a rash review on this product and that was unfair. The rashness was due to a quick preliminary scan based on the handle, not the base. I still think the handle is delicate compared to the solidly constructed fork base. The center of the handle is cut open. Perhaps it's a design feature but one that seems to render the fork a bit on the light and delicate side (at least for me). But the fork itself is strong. So for that, I will definitely eat my words right out of this fork!

i got the knives and just had to get the cutting board too. i am not disappointed. the cutting board is the best i have ever used. the wood is a little soft, and it absorbs colors, but i just love it. i have used a variety of woods and other unfortunate choices. my last cutting board was bamboo and i hated the hardness of it. this one is perfect. thick, flat, and very functional. the softness of the wood helps to keep the blades sharp & it seems to make cutting easier.

I had wanted to purchase a nice cutting board that would complement high quality cutlery and I can confidently say I found it in the Shun Hinoki cutting board. This cutting board is the cadillac of all cutting boards. What is especially nice about this particular board is the fact that knives will stay sharper longer when used on Hinoki wood as opposed to other materials, such as (bamboo, plastic, glass, pine...etc). I was super blessed to have an opportunity to buy two of these boards on sale. I can certainly understand someone voicing reluctance to spend $150 on just a cutting board, however if you factor in the time you will save by not sharpening your knives as often while using this board as opposed to other cutting boards, than the price is justified for the $150 cost. Prestige Coutale Sommelier - All Stainless Steel

First off, this is a well made sturdy piece of equipment that will probably last many years. This comes at the price of weight though. This thing is solid steel and it feels like it. 5.4oz (1/3pound) doesn't sound like much but when its in you pocket and your walking fast you notice it. I'm a bartender and server so I need to keep it in my pocket and after a few weeks I've already noticed a holes forming in my pockets. Part of this is due to the pointed end opposite the opener. The handle closer to the opener is rounded and smooth but the pointed end has very angular and sharp sides and the end is fairly narrow which makes it pretty abrasive.

The knife design isn't optimal either. It's serration is to aggressive and tears the foil rather than cutting.

the bottle opener is also not optimal. I often need to rotate a beer bottle a bit and make a second bend to get the top off. The opener is a bit too short and causes the bottle top to bend at one side rather than pop off. If you fully extend the opener and use the bottle opener on the far side of the bottle tab (flip the tool over and push down on the corkscrew side of the handle)it works better but I don't want to flip it open 50x per night.

The corkscrew and lever work wonderfully. The hing mechanism on the lever works great and is well constructed. The corkscrew itself is sturdy in its hinge and has a groove on the edge that helps it slide in the cork easily.

Great for a low volume fancy wine shop where the customers need to be impressed and it sits looking pretty on the shelf when not in use. Not great for a bartender/waiter who needs fast functionality and carries it with them at all times.

This is the best wine tool I've ever owned and as a sommelier I open a lot of wine. Not only is the product great, but the customer service is top notch. Thanks again!!

After going through rabbit corkscrews and basic corkscrews, all which broke after some time, we found this amazing wine opener. It is solid and easy to use. What a breeze. Looks fancy on our bar as well. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: I am updating this review because I had to deal with the company Wine-n-Gear and their service was exceptional. After quite a bit of use, I still highly recommend this opener and if anything goes wrong with the product or your order, just know that you will be well taken care of. A+ for the product and for customer service.

UPDATE #2: I am updating my May 16, 2012 review because this corkscrew turned out to be a dud. It worked very well for the first while, but then the spring that holds in the little foil cutter broke causing the very sharp knife to fall out very dangerous. So, we contacted the sellers who replaced the corkscrew immediately (very good customer service). Unfortunately, our second corkscrew didn't even last as long as the first one before the foil cutter spring broke again. We are now using it very gingerly so as to not cut our hands every time we open wine. I do not recommend this product.

UPDATE #3: I was contacted by the vendor that the design flaw in this product has been fixed and they replaced my defective opener. I have changed my rating back to 5 stars for two reasons. #1 the product has been used every day since it was replaced and it remains in excellent shape. It's a great opener. Excellent quality. Not sure why someone didn't like the quality of it. It's durable and sleek. Heavy duty. #2 the customer service I received from the vendor, Wine-n-Gear, was exceptional. I would refer this product because I believe it's a great opener, and also because the company is great to deal with and provided excellent service. A+

I own a Screwpull by Le Creuset Waiter's Corkscrew and enjoy it very much. If the only goal is open the bottle of wine without any trouble Screwpull is all you need it is cool and works easily. I even purchased a whole bunch of them as a small gifts. Unfortunately, utilitarian functionality is not what I wanted and I decided to spring for the different items of that variety. As long as Screwpull (and Le Creuset Waiter's Friend Corkscrew, Black as well) is just a re-branded Coutale, I wanted to have different handles and sizes with that perfect two-step mechanism, which was available under original brand Coutale. Before buying full line of openers (wooden, pocket...) I tried the one, which all stainless and here is my sad story:

1) Polish is no good for the item with the word Prestige in the title. Item has many visible edges, which supposed to be polished out. There is an unpolished spot next to the foil cutter;

2) Item comes covered with manufacturing oil and polish paste residue;

3) Item consists of 5 layers of steel and there are two clearly visible splits between the layers at the notch of the handle;

4) Foil cutter is hard to open. It is skewed and when I close the cutter, it doesn't go directly into the slot. It hits the handle instead and you have to help it with the finger to go into slot;

5) Worm opens at a wrong angle and item looks skewed, asymmetrical;

6) There are many other small defects and inconsistencies, which are difficult to describe, but they provide a lousy feel.

Altogether this make corkscrew looking screwy, which is a surprise. Probably, my perfect Screwpulls went through Srewpull's control. And it looks like neither Coutale itself or its exclusive distributor wine-n-gear cares about what the sell under Coutale brand.

P.S. I just received a True Fabrications Deluxe Professional Corkscrew, Stainless, which is exact copy of the Coutale, so the copy has none of those defects and it costs only $12.50 a real stainless STEAL. Good job True Fabrication, shame on Coutale.

I have owned this particular knife for 5 years now and it is one of my favorite and most useful knives. As a professional chef, i own several boning and filet knives both curved, straight,and stiff and flexible. At 7 inches it is long enough tobe used for everything from trimming tenderloins to cutting through tuna loins. it has a decent heft and the handle is large enough to fit my hand (a problem i found in other knives) another feature i enjoyed with this knife is how smooth itis without any crevices to harbor microorganisms in its handle or bolster. My girlfriend on the other hand finds the blade a bit too long for use in our home. prefering the 5.5 inch pro s boning knife. I also enjoy the slight flex in the blade it allows me to use knife in situations suitable for either a flexible or a stiff bone. All in all it is extremely useful in a professional kitchen and not a necessity in a home kitchen but it is very nice to have in both settings.

I have used this knife for almost 30 years and rate it #1. This time I'm buying one for my daughter.

Wusthof Classic 4-Inch Boning Knife (4601-10cm)

I already had a 6 inch boning knife and bought this for smaller tasks. Though it is a small 4 inch blade, the handle is sized like a 6 inch knife so it is easy to grasp when your hands are wet or slippery. It easily cuts up a chicken. It's good for cutting peppers and cleaning the seeds from the insides. It's good for things that you're not going to do on a cutting board and makes a pretty good steak knife at the table too!

Arrives incredibly sharp...wasn't careful and cut myself. Knife is as described but sharper than any other knives I have ever purchased.

Here are the downsides none of which warranted lowering the star rating. Not much heft, plastic handle feels like a plastic handle, not much to look at. The pluses: they cut great, didn't cost $275 which probably would have eliminated the minuses but I can live with that huge cost saving. If they hold up as well as a Swiss Army knife, they're a great deal.

I purchased 6 of these knives over 14 years ago in Europe. After years of being used every single day,(they are almost the ONLY knives I use in the kitchen), and being abused by cutting bags and boxes the 2 knives left were getting a bit dull even tho I could still cut tomatoes with them.

These are not just "steak" knives, they are "everything" knives. I was thrilled to find these wonders still available! If you buy them, I'm sure you will LOVE them! But be careful THEY ARE SHARP!!

This cutter feels solid and I expect it to last me a lifetime. The matte black nylon handles do not scratch or chip, but still look sleek. I have dropped the cutter a few times, picked it up and everything is tight, with no chips. As far as cutting cigars this thing is a champ. Blade is razor sharp. I originally thought about getting a full set with a cutting block, but at the end of the day these three are sufficient for my daily use. The key is that they are very sharp and provide a firm grip. Melange Wave Premium Porcelain Place Setting, Ivory

I ordered this product when it was still labeled "temporarily out of stock" which was about a week ago. I received notification two days ago that Amazon was shipping it and it arrived today by noon (Saturday). My husband was more excited than I was to receive the package and carefully unpacked each dish from the cardboard packaging it arrived in. I am always a bit nervous to order something which is fragile, but EVERY piece arrived in tact, absolutely nothing broken and no missing pieces.

The design is definitely unique and will add some flair to our meals we have been using Ikea dishes for the past few years so these are more interesting and stylish. I especially like the size of all the pieces; the salad plate is a great size and I can see putting desserts or candy on them separately, as the size and shape will look great on the table at any time.

One note about the other product reviewer (who has not actually owned or purchased it, I believe, but was commenting from the picture) who said that it would not be possible to sip coffee from the cup without it spilling out, due to the straight line that is absolutely not the case! We put water in it and handed it to our 2 year old son to test to see if water would spill out the sides and it was fine. No, the shape of the cup is not a traditional 'round' shape, but 'square' shaped mugs have indeed been around awhile and several other brands and designs utilize this shape!

You can't beat the value, especially for 8 place settings. I'm very excited to use this during the holidays, along with my other holidays dishes. The white color will mix and match well with our other dinnerware. We just put them all through the dishwasher and they look great and are sitting in my cupboard, waiting for our next meal!

This set has a "different" look and feel. The white porcelain is okay a few minor imperfections are obvious upon inspection. The pattern is unique. The sloped, square, drop edged design with slight bars on one edge make for an interesting look. The dinner plate is HUGE but does let all the pieces nest nicely as needed.

A good choice at a reasonable price.

This set is just absolutely lovely...I purposely bought the 5-piecer just to get a feel for whether I'd like this set 1st and let me tell you, I LOVE LOVE LOVVVVVVVVVVE IT...I now want the 20-piece set even though I'm single :-)...what I don't understand are the complaints about the square mug cause I'm simply not having any issues with it...for me it functions like a mug regardless of its shape...I however was concerned that it would be too small for me since I'm a big mug kinda girl...but honestly, I love its dainty size...I feel like I'm at a tea party sipping with my pinky out...if you're on the fence about this set, pull the trigger 2day...you won't be disappointed.

If you are like me with a more "rustic", "old world" theme to your home, than you know how difficult it is to find flatware to fit your romantic ideas of days long gone and your modern life with dishwashers! Well, I found these and they have been fantastic! They fit perfectly with my huge antque oak dining table and I can dress them up or down depending on the occastion. They are all one piece instead of a spoon or fork piece attached to the handle; another feature I really liked. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that once in a while, the handles will develop a very minute amount of rust, likely from multiple trips through the dishwasher. This is easily remedied by a bit of baking soda and they are like new!

I have had this same flatware for several years now and was adding more to my existing set. I love this flatware because it feels heavy duty and looks nice for years with proper care.
