Once the can is lined up and it is working, it not only opens the can, but it always takes a thin layer of paper off the can. When I take my can off the opener, I always have to pick little shreds of paper out of the product.

This with a doubt one of the worst can openers I've everowned!! I bought it because it is attractive and will
accept tall cans. It is attractive, but not very
functional. It is so very difficult to get the can
positioned just right, so it will open, that it takes
5 or 6 tries just to get it to work. The "lid catcher"
blocks your view of the mechanism so it's almost
impossible to position the can properly. In addition
when removing the can, the cutting arm mechanism slides
off the opener most of the time.
Don't but this poorly designed product!!!

I recently purchased the Black & Decker Grand Openings II Extra Tall Can Opener in black to coordinate better with a new countertop that I just had installed. It is very similar to a Black & Decker white tall can opener that I had been using, which I loved. The black can opener runs well and smoothly. My only complaint is when opening a can that has a lot of liquid in it, the liquid splashes out when the can opener stops. This happened to me when I was opening some cans of minced clams and I had clam juice all over my counter. This didn't happen with my old can opener. Otherwise, I like the new can opener.Want Black & Decker CO1200 Grand Openings II Extra-Tall Electric Can Opener Discount?
It is extremely difficult to stick a can in this opener in the proper position to have the very small cutting blade actually cut through the can's lid. We were able to open the can on the first try maybe 1 out of 15 attempts. My P38-John Wayne C-Ration can opener that I got in the Marine Corps 45+ years ago, is only about 1 1/2" in length, has a larger cutting blade and works better and faster. This Black & Decker can opener was a waste of money and is going into the trash. I'd rather be using one of the other hand powered can openers we've have.
