Ok, I work with knifes daily and consider myself to be quite an expert. I got this set as a gift from a friend and loved the "look" of the knives. I took the 5" utility knife with me to work and use it for cutting veggies. I won't exactly say the usage is light, but I wouldn't say it's extremely heavy either. On average I cut 5-10 onions in half, 5-10 cucumbers in half, and 10-30 green peppers in half, all with the intent of putting them into a food slicer. The knives themselves keep their edges fairly well and haven't needed to sharpen them as of yet. However, the tang that holds the blade into the handle is too short and in 4 weeks broke out of the handle. I expect a tang to be a lot longer than 1" and was incredibly dissapointed when this knife broke at work. Also the non-stick coating comes on really easily. I washed it daily with a fairly abrasive scouring pad and within 3 days the coating was starting to scratch. I then moved to a soft cloth to protect the non-stick coating. I will upload a picture of the knife so that everyone can see the short tang on the blade. I'd say, if you buy this for small usage around the house, it will probably last you a while, but for daily usage, I'd say keep looking.
After we use these, we wipe them with a soapy sponge, rinse, dry, slip back in the sheath and toss in the drawer.
They clean VERY easily and stay VERY sharp. There's no need to use abrasives or machine wash...that would just be asking for trouble.
