I'm very pleased with the size of this organizer. The kitchen drawers in my apartment don't open very far. This is not surprising to deal with second-rate conveniences in a rental. Anyway, this organizer fits perfectly in the kitchen drawer sideways: meaning the four slots run horizontally. If I put it in the drawer in standard orientation, I'd not be able to get to half of the utensils. Every other wooden organizer I found was a quarter inch too wide to fit my standard sized drawer this way.
