Victorinox 3-Inch by 5-Inch Chef's Slotted Fish Turner Head, White Poly Handle
Bambu Cheese Knife
This classic cheese knife is well made. The 4 1/4 inch handle will fit large hands, and the lightly serrated 3 13/16 inch stainless steel blade extends through the length of the knife. The wooden handle panels are secured with what look like metal pegs. I keep this knife in my toolbox for projects like lifting driveway paving stones and digging out the grass and weeds growing between the stones. (I use a garden hose to spray away the moss growing between the stones). I suppose this attractive knife would also suffice for cutting cheese on a cheeseboard.
Kuhn Rikon Kitchen Shears
I also like that the blade tips are narrow enough to get under a sealed box flap for opening shipped packages and they cut cardboard easily. They do well opening other packages too. Although I love the Wusthoff shears, the bone notch limits their ability to cut paper and cut open plastic packages as effectively as these shears do so I have both available.
There is a bottle opener at the bottom of the blade, but I've never used it, in part because I don't keep the shears in the case, but rather hang them by the hole in the handle. As a result holding them closed during the bottle opening exercise is a little awkward. I also found the herb stripping slots too sharp to strip the leaves without cutting the stem, but that's not a problem since fingers work pretty well for that task. While those extra functions don't add value, in my opinion, the sharp spring action scissors themselves are worth having to compliment whatever else you use as kitchen shears. These shears cut through everything in the kitchen and many other things around the house, especially that difficult-to-open plastic packaging like that surrounding batteries. Highly recommended! I would recommend model #2710, though, above these, the #2706, as they're a bit larger and more versatile.

I bought thes shears to replace an aging pair of Pampered Chef shears. They are much better than the Pampered Chef even when new. A very high quality product.Everyone needs utility shears. Whether it's outside gardening or inside for a piece of cardboard, carpet or chicken. But you want to pay about $10. So two years ago I got a well-known brand in that price range, and the handle broke, not to mention that they didn't cut, they pinched things until they gave in or not. The Kuhn Rikon shears are sharp, cut, and the bright handle makes them easy to find. It would be better to have a way to keep them closed without the protective cover. They should just go in your pocket. Otherwise they are great and well worth the investment. These are tough kitchen shears. I find they are good for cutting up meat, slicing through packaging, etc. Great all around. I like the spring action handles and the self sharpening blades. Highly recommended.Pure Komachi 2 Series Citrus Knife
But even more, I love the usefulness, the sharpness of the blades, the ease of cleaning AND the great price.
After the horrible flooding of New Orleans...and the loss of all my "good knives" to the 11 feet of mud and water in my kitchen, I decided I wanted pretty, fun, and, of course, useful in my life. These fit the bill.
Enjoy!I originally purchased this knife a year ago from Williams Sonoma. I loved this knife so much I wanted to purchase more for gifts, because all my friends commented on how great a knife this is. I was delighted when I found the knife on Amazon, because Williams Sonoma no longer carries the knife. I bought 5 knives this year for christmas gifts. All my friends were thrilled that I was able to find it, and they luv it. It slices through citrus like butter. You'll not be dissapointed.

We have had this for a year or two now, and it still works well. It's light and fairly sharp for its age (never resharpened it). We don't have a dish washing machine, so I can't attest to its longevity under that type of washing. The non stick coating won't last forever, but I can say it will last a few years, anyway.
We mainly use this knife on lime, lemon, sandwiches, tomatoes, etc.
bottom line-
can't beat it for the price. don't hesitate if it looks right to you.

Generally speaking, all of the Komachi knives are amazing. This knife is great not only for cutting fruit but is great for day to day cutting jobs. The serrated edge does make it limited with some veggies but for the most part it glides through anything.Highly recommend, they stay sharp a long time (at least over a year).

We just added this little vegetable knife to our shun block it's a perfect addition! As per usual, this Shun product is sturdy, sharp and truly beautiful. The paring knife has always been our favorite "go-to" knife in the block, and with all of the action that one sees, we felt that the straight blade vegetable knife would complement our set well. It's great for quick prep of even the toughest veggies the knife slices and dices a carrot as if it were warm butter. Be super careful with your fingers! As with all knives, Shun products require sharpening occasionally, but we cook nightly and are just at the point where the rest of the set requires attention and it's been 3 years since purchase.Although these knives are pricey they are sharp, solid and really gorgeous... worth every penny! I can't imagine cooking without my Shun knives!

One reviewer suggests using a "sharpmaker". That could throw away a large part of the reason you pay more for a Shun. The steel has alloys that make it possible to sharpen the edge to 16 degrees and have the edge hold. Most knives are sharpened to around 20 degrees because they are not capable of holding the narrower edge and must be blunter. If you use a standard sharpener with your Shun, you may end up wondering why other people make such a big deal about how sharp a Shun is while yours is not much better than your other knives. Shun makes an electric sharpener and whetstones. There is a discounted sharpening service through kershawknives.com for Shun owners. If you use a local knife sharpening service, make certain they understand proper angles (bevel).Want Shun Classic 3-1/2-Inch Straight Vegetable Knife Discount?

Thickness = 3/32"
Outside diameter = 2-21/32"
Inside diameter = 1-27/32"The seller says this gasket "Fits all Hamilton Beach domestic models," but if you are looking for a gasket for a Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express (Model 54615,) then you will be wasting your money if you buy this.
It is too small to fit where it is intended to go. That said, it is very close to fitting correctly, and if you force it, it does go on... but it doesnt lay flat once you do manage to force it on. Then to top it off, it is too thick. So then you have to force the sealing pieces together. It's just no good.
I was gonna send it back to the seller, but then I decided to just keep it and use it as comparison to find a gasket slightly larger that would fit my blender.
I was successful in that search. So if you are looking for a replacement gasket for a Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express (Model 54615,) go to the plumbing section of the Home Depot. Find the Danco "Fluidmaster" brand Toilet Flush Valve Seal. It says it "fits Mansfield 210 & 211" on the package. Model number listed is 88096. UPC is 037155676293.
That gasket fits perfectly and seals beautifully for the model of blender I listed. It will cost around $2.
Its dimensions are: 3-1/8" OD with a 2-1/8" ID... It measures 1/16" thick.

These knives appear at first like Pacific Palisades yuppie display pieces, purchased to never be used, highly crafted but without mind towards function. Nothing could be further from the truth, however; these knives mean business. Built with Japan's modern chefs in mind, they have the balance of a Katana, highest quality steel and a wicked edge. They're suitable in construction and balance for everything from sashimi to butchery.
This heavy knife (Global actually refers to the heavier knives as "forged", probably because their lighter knives have ground hollow handles) can deftly mince shallots or rip apart a chicken in the same breath. The balance is so perfect that it really feels like nothing at all in your hand.
Care and feeding are trickier than a Henckels or a carbon-steel knife; the molybenum/vandium alloy is extremely hard and hard to influence outside of a full grind. I'm using a ceramic finishing stone to hone the edge (which does slip around; a downside of the extremely acute angle of grind), and I expect that I'll have a professional grind it when needed, something I don't do with my Henckels knives.
I'm buying the lighter 8" knife as well, now that I've had my hands on it. I really think that between the two of them there's nothing you can't take down.I bought this knife almost three months ago, and have been nothing but impressed. I am a professional chef and have used this blade almost non-stop since its arrival. Despite daily use and infrequent passes on a global ceramic steel, it still remains near razor sharp. The feel, the balance, the way the blade will hold an edge, everything about this knife is amazing. It has quickly grown to be my favorite knife, surpassing even my ceramic knife which cost me three times as much and hasn't held up nearly as well. Only complaint I have is because of its heavy weight, delicate cutting such as basil julienne (which I do frequently) are exceptionally difficult without bruising the herbs. Its possible to do the job with the knife, but not really what it was designed for either in my opinion. Every knife has its purpose, this is the best general purpose knife ive ever used.

I've been a professional chef for almost a decade now, and I've tried dozens of high-end and mid-priced knives including Shun, Calphalon, Henckels, Wusthof, Furi, and plenty of others. This is the best. Hands down. I had previously purchased the G-2 chef's knife and really loved it, but it just wasn't quite beefy enough to take down things like sweet potatoes, butternut squash, or cleanly cut through a chicken spine. The extra blade thickness (and weight) at the hilt is a huge advantage for tasks like shredding cabbage for slaw or finely chopping herbs. That being said, the knife is balanced so well it feels like a part of your arm, and is sharper than some of the ceramics out there. the steel is harder than all but the most expensive german lines, but it flexes more than the folded japanese knives. The result? The Global cuts smooth as buttah, stays sharp longer than a Pro-S Henckels, but doesn't chip or crack like a Shun. It's also just a really beautiful and elegantly designed piece of steel. Showroom-quality, as they say. The one real caveat is that you really need a ceramic honer to keep the blade in top form. Standard chrome or diamond steels just don't hold up. I recommend the Wusthof Ceramic Honing Rod. 5 years in, and it hasn't lost a bit of its grit.Read Best Reviews of Global GF-33 8 1/4-Inch, 21-cm Heavyweight Chef's Knife Here
Invest in this knife (and a good sharpening stone). It is heavy but with experience, that's a good thing. "Let the knife do the work" and all that. I got used to the weight quite quickly.Want Global GF-33 8 1/4-Inch, 21-cm Heavyweight Chef's Knife Discount?
I have regularly used German, Swiss, and American steel blades and this Japanese Global puts them all to shame across the board. A bit higher on the price scale than some of it's "competitors" (if you can call them that), but it MORE than makes up for it in performance, durability, ease of use, comfort, and craftsmanship. Hands down the sharpest blade I've ever worked with. I highly recommend that you hone this knife on a soaked wet stone rather than a traditional steel though, as it takes a 10 degree angle on the blade edge, where most every steel is designed for a 40-45 degree edge. Probably the last chef knife I will ever need to buy.Iittala Piano Collection
After checking out lot of local department stores we first got Villeroy & Boch New Wave Flatware set which we returned as it didn't feel good in hand. Now, after owning iittala, New Wave looks terrible.
After lot of browsing and research online and in local stores, we ended up owning WMF Taika Flatware for daily use as amazon has incredible deal on 43-piece set. WMF is a European company but the flatware is made in China.
For formal parties, we got iittala's Artik Flatware set. This set has very similar finish to Piano flatware and is more affordable for us.
Then, we were very fortunate to find a bargain deal on Piano dinner forks and knives from a charity organisation that sells on ebay! Of the three, we like Piano the most. No wonder the price is high! It sure shows in the finish and style of the product. The stainless steel has a very vibrant shine to it and the handles are thick and very very comfortable to hold. They are not heavy since the inside of the handles is hallow but the outside of it is so thick that it feels as if its not hallow inside.
This set is sure to get more attention than anything else you put on the table to guests. In fact, iittala suddenly seems to be our favorite brand for kitchen. Amazon just started to carry lot of their products and I placed an order for their daily use drinkware. This silverware designed by Renzo Piano was received as a gift and is absolutely beautiful. Wusthof Grand Prix II 4-1/2-Inch Utility Knife
It is easy to sharpen again; I use the Wuesthof steel or my WMF sharpener (I love that one!) or my Wuesthof ceramic sharpener (I had to find out my favorite sharpener by trying them all).
I am hand-washing my forged knives right after use and I keep them well and dry stored in a wooden knife block. Forged knives should not be washed in a dish washer. The knives are expensive, but I do want to enjoy my daily work in the kitchen and I do not like messing around with dangerous blunt and cheap knives. For me every knife that is longer than a peeling knife should be a forged knife, with the only exception of a bread knife. My bread knife is over 30 years old and works like on its first day.
If a not used Wuesthof knife arrives dull I would send it back, it should have been easy to exchange the knife for a sharp one.My son is a chef. When he cooks at my house, he brings his own knives because he doesn't like mine. He recommended that I upgrade a few of my knives to WUSTHOF Grand Prix. I'm so glad I did. Cutting and chopping is a breeze with these knives. They are very sharp.

This is a near-perfect knife. The handle design is especially nice, and the blade is long enough to be meaningful. Is it worth the FORTUNE you have to pay? Probably not. NEW Zhen Japanese VG-10 Light Cleaver Vegetable Chopping Chef Knife 7"
This is the first knife I've owned that was made in Japan. My biggest concern is that the bolster and the blade are crafted from 2 different pieces of metal. Maybe this is common for Japanese cutlery. If I paid for a premium German knife and it had been crafted like this then I would return it.
P.S. It does come in a cute box. This might be a very good gift for someone who cooks at home and likes nice things but probably not appropriate for a pro. chef.
