This knife can take a nice edge and holds it relatively well -tho not as well as many other Japanese knives, but it is not carbon steel as advertised. It appears to be stainless steel. And more importantly, the back is not hollow ground. For only $50 bucks I didn't expect much, but this is more like a $20 noname knife.
