When I was a kid and trying to learn to cook my mother had only one knife for chopping, paring and slicing. It was the worst knife ever! It was so dull that cucumbers would sort of quish instead of cut, and she kept it until she died. My step-father did learn how to sharpen it better but it was still the worst. These Ikon knives are fabulous. I thought it would be fun to have the white ones and I really am glad I have gotten a whole set
