I ordered these knives for an elementary after-school cooking program. We are very limited in what we can teach them since they aren't allowed to use real knives. Although they are preforated they still cannot easily cut through anything. The children were smashing celery to get it to break with the knives.Forget anything hard like carrots or potatoes. The compromise now is that there is actually more potential for them to get hurt struggling with that knife. And it offers no real world experience because simple chopping and dicing is way more difficult then it should be especially for beginners.

I can't remember how many pans with the teflon coating that we have ruined by trying to cut something with a

My little dude is always helping in the kitchen we use a Learning Tower to get him up to the counter and he is always involved. I find he eats more if he helps prepare it. He will be 3yo this month. He loves the knife. He has to be supervised 100%, but can use it independently. It is not sharp if you just touch it, but with pressure, it will certainly cut veggies... and fingers if not careful. We haven't had any mishaps, but I watch him like a hawk as I should, afterall, he is 3 and has a knife. Would definitely recommend

I got this knife along with a kid cookbook and cutting board for our daughter for Christmas. She loves to help me cut up apples, bananas, even brussels sprouts (which she then actually EATs at dinner!) and she's getting a lot of good practice using a knife without it being sharp.
