If I feel strongly enough to write a review, I try to be as objective as possible. I try to give a pro and con list and try to keep it as honest and balanced as I can. Well, in the case of this product, I cannot find anything wrong with it and I tried.

I purchased this picnic basket as a Christmas present for my wife. After a very long and frustrating search I stumbled upon this shortly before I considered giving up. I had only three criteria: a)it be a 1960's retro design b) it be in new to decent condition c) it have some, if not most, of the accessories to have a picnic. This exceeded my requirements.

Pro:

1) the quality of the basket seems solid. The handles are a hardwood, the exterior material seems durable and the inner material soft and padded

2) the glasses are made out of GLASS! ...not plastic as I expected

3) the plates are ceramic

4) the utensils are metal and wood of a decent gage

5) the napkins are made out of the same material as the inner liner

6) it comes with many extras such as a cheese board, bottle opener, cork screw, and salt and pepper shakers all made out of metal (cheese board is a cutting board wood quality).

7) straps are either a low grade leather or vinyl and are rivetted into the cover

8) it is aesthetically pleasing...essentially a new made 1960's style basket complete with all you may need

Con:

1) Although I searched it over completely, I couldn't find where it was made

2) To be fair, we haven't actually used it on a picnic as of the time and date of this post since it is currently winter time and there is a few inches of snow on the ground. I have no idea how durable it is.

If you are looking for a serious, well made and thought out picnic basket then this is it. It would also make for a nice accessory or prop for a car show if you own a car made in the mid to late 1960's. Cheers!

This was a gift for my daughter and son-in-law's 10th wedding anniversary. They LOVED it, so naturally I love it! ;-) They came running into my workplace with it in hand and had to show me all the goodies inside! They were so happy, they went on a picnic that very day and had a wonderful time. It was my hope to give them a gift that would give lasting, fun, special memories for a lifetime and this was the perfect gift.
