Rada Cutlery R123 Cooks Spoon

Rada Cutlery R123 Cooks SpoonI was in the market for a dedicated stainless steel roux spoon and start surfing. I REALLY liked the one manufactured by McWare but had a gut feeling that it was made in China--I just couldn't see myself spending for a roux spoon that wasn't made here.

Fortunately, searching on Amazon brought me to this Rada spoon--made HERE--and I jumped, and would have even if it hadn't been so reasonably priced. Mind you, I prefer the angled head and greater surface area of the dedicated roux spoons; I'd have liked a somewhat longer handle as well. But in its favor, Rada's Cooks Spoon is (like me!) ambidextrous which means that I can switch hands with impunity; roux is both time-consuming and somewhat tiring because it has to be stirred constantly and carefully. And really, it's a beautiful piece of cutlery--it has a satin finish that's comfortable to the touch and while I understand how some might find its edges uncomfortable, my own grip when I stir tends to be with my fingertips so it's not a factor for me. And although a wider flat edge would be nice, this is certainly adequate and is appropriate for smaller pans, too.

All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase and I'm gratified to have found something that hit all of my hot buttons: USA-made, nice quality, good value. I hope Rada Cutlery stays in business forever. :)

This spoon is so useful to stir pots and mix things with. It has good strength and scapes the bottom of the on really well. This is especially good for me because I tend to burn the bottom of things. I highly recommend this spoon. I would preferr to have the handle be a little better engineered, but that is the biggest problem.

The Rada Cutlery Cooks Spoon is very well made. It is a substantial thickness of stainless steel with a unique matte finish that will not show scratches. It is sized right for use in cooking. It has a straight front edge that makes it useful for scraping across the bottom of a pot or pan. But ... it is stamped from one continuous piece of stainless steel and has somewhat sharp edges on the handle. The edges are not sharp enough to cut the hand, but are somewhat uncomfortable. A more rounded handle would be better.

I recently switched all my utensils and things in my kitchen to products that were made in the USA. I found Rada cutlery after doing a search on Amazon for kitchen utensils made in the USA. These are great quality, and I am very pleased that I made the purchase. All my cooking utensils are now Rada cutlery and I ditched all the Kitchen Aid ones.

Must admit, I purchased this serving/cooking spoon specifically because it was made in USA. The quality of the spoon seemed ok, (I never used it for cooking), but the handle was so flat that it cuts into your hand when you grip it. The spoon it replaces was very old, but had a riveted handle similar to quality cutting knives. It was very comfortable; this replacement just did not measure up. As usual, Amazon/Vendor were great about the return/credit. Just wish this was a more useful product, being made in the USA.
