We had a Stelton carafe for over 30 years, which we had bought in Germany and used daily. When it finally gave out, we decided to replace it with a new one. Comparing the two shows that there have been some changes in the materials in the last thirty years, but surprisingly not detrimental ones. The spout was redesigned and it is now absolutely drip-free, which is wonderful. You can just reach out, pick up the carafe with one hand, tilt to pour, and then set it back down again without looking. Nothing drips. There is also now an additional plastic screw-in cap which you can substitute for the free-floating pour cap, allowing you to use the carafe as a thermos and travel with it.

We make our coffee in the morning and drink the last of it about 6 hours later. It is still hot: not scalding (or piping) hot, granted, but hot enough to still taste good. If you need very hot coffee for longer periods of time, this probably isn't the right carafe for you. But otherwise, the beauty and stylishness of this product, the ease and simplicity of the pick-up-and-pour design, and the quality of the materials make this a solid 5-star buy.

I finally broke down and ordered one of these. I thought it was a little expensive for what it was. It's beautiful but it doesn't seem to keep my coffee as warm for as long as others that I've used in the past. It does have a glass liner which, though it's probably more fragile, seems to be easier to clean. I'm happy with it.

My parents had acquired our first Stelton Vacuum Jug from Design Research in Cambridge, MA many years ago, and it was such a success, not to mention elegant, I had to replace it when it finally showed its age....at least 30 plus years later. Based on that fact, I don't expect to need to acquire another Stelton Jug in my lifetime, but can leave this one to my children to use and enjoy.
