After viewing several steak knife sets and reading their reviews, I decided to try the Outset QL90 Curtis Lloyd steak knives because it was a good price for 6 knives made of quality material. I also checked out the Outset Company's website at and learned their business is high-end barbeque and barware products. Specialists in BBQ tools!

We grill year-round in San Diego so I needed a good steak knife set and I'm so glad I bought these knives! They fit the hand well with a good feel and 'balance'. I will follow the instructions to never put them into the dishwasher so I expect to enjoy their use for years to come!

i was looking for forged steak knives and i was attracted to the style of these knives. the walnut handle is a nice classic touch. for the price, i was hoping they would be better balanced, as the handle is noticeably heavier than the blade. also, i was hoping for a sturdier blade, as it's slightly flimsy, though it isn't an issue with cutting. additionally, i was hoping the knives wouldn't have been made in china! my parents purchased the same style (not outset) of forged steak knives from the christmas tree shoppe (discount/bargain retailer) and they are better balanced with a sturdier blade, and they cost much less.

i would give these 5 stars for style alone, but they lost a couple of stars for overall quality and the overly high price point.

This is actually my second set of these knives. The first set I gave to my mom as a gift to replace the steak knives she has owned for over 20 years. She really liked them so I decided to buy myself a set.

The knives are very sharp, as expected, and I really like the weight of the knives. You feel like you have something in your hand when you are cutting a steak or cutting some steamed vegetables.

The only thing that concerned me was the care instructions that state that the knives should be hand washed. I am certain that this is meant to prolong the lives of the wood handles. The wood handles is one of the main reasons I decided to buy this particular set. I have had the knives for a couple of months now and have found that I do not really mind hand washing them. There are lots of things that will last longer if hand washed and one just has to decide whether or not to commit.

Overall, these are great knives, great cutting edge, well constructed, nice details, great weight. No regrets at all.

I have better knives so I can see the difference in quality ! Not worth $55, maybe $35 ?

The handles seem to be unfinished wood. And the blades are a bit on the thin side. But they have a nice overall weight and heft. I would say they were worth the money I spent.
