Hampton Forge Silversmiths Swirl Mirror 90-Piece Flatware Set

We received this set as a 2011 Christmas gift.

This flatware was intended to supplement our current flatware which is Henckels in the Synergy style because we went from just me and my husband to a family of four and needed more flatware. Now I am looking for another Henckels pattern since Synergy is no longer being made.

I just do not like how flimsy this Hampton flatware feels. You definitely cannot eat a piece of steak with it for fear that your fork will bend. I really tried to like this flatware, but every time it is in the drawer with the Henckels I find myself fishing out the Henckels and leaving this behind. I just do not like the lightweight feel of it in my hand either.

The only piece in the flatware that I literally could not bend with one hand is the knife. I am dead serious. Either we just got a bad batch, or this is how it is supposed to be. The mirror finish is pretty, but the flatware is just too light and too thin, especially the tines on the fork.

To make my case, I weighed each piece on my Salter kitchen scale for comparison:

And before I forget, I have also noticed that the Hampton flatware has rust on it whereas the Henckels (bought around 1999/2000)does not.

I am very pleased with the Hampton Forge swirl-patterned flatware that I purchased last month. It was not only affordable but also attractive. I bought new flatware because my old set was leaving scratchmarks on my dinner plates and bowls. I have no such problems now with my new set. I am quite satisfied.

Very satisified. The silverware was for our church. We are growing so fast that we needed more silverware to serve dinners, funerals, etc. We already had some and we wanted to get the same pattern and I was able to find it on Amazon.com.

The first time we washed them in the dishwasher some of them rusted. I really loved the look of them but that doesn't allways matter. Make sure you go with 18/10 ALWAYS.
