Buy Wusthof Gourmet Paring Knife Now
It was OK until an inch-long piece of plastic handle (from knob to the blade) just broke off on one side. It was normally used for 7 months, we didn't hit it or drop it. Also the red paper square logo sticker starts to look bad after 1-2 months and if you remove it there is gonna be a nasty sticky spot for quite a while quite irritating.I guess their whole Gourmet series is kind of cheapish quality and there are better alternatives in this price range from less glorified brands. In the fall of 2006, I aquired a series of Wusthof Gourmet knives. They've all been great, with the exception of this 4.5 inch (12 mm) model. It has rusted and the blade has pitted so badly that the knife essentially is a serrated knife. Very strange. I think the Wusthof people bought a bad batch of metal from China when these knives were made.I was more than pleased to find that these knives were superbly sharp and beautifully made. They cost a bit more than many but the difference is there. I compared them to the paring knives in my knife drawer and none were as nice so now I find myself fishing around for the good ones instead of the old ones. Wonderful items. Good vendor and quick shipping.
